I don't mind playing it and watching it...but it will never be as huge as American Football is right now!

We call it "soccer" with an 'E', not "soccor"...

i might watch it if it were on tv or covered at all. Over here in the states soccer isn't even mentioned.
I played it growing up, and in high school...but stopped there.

It's an incredibly popular game to play over here. Then once kids graduate from high school they never play again. And no one is interested in watching professionals play. Which is really quite strange, when you think about it.

You should of put right now IN AMERICA.
Football is the best sport in the world in my opinion. I love it so much. The world cup is such a good event, What other sports brings thousands of people from 32 different country's all to one city. To be honest im glad it hasn't taken off in america becuase if it does you'll end up getting really good at it.
Also not having a digg here but i find it really funny when i hear about an american football team being the world series champions and stuff. Exactly how many other country compete in this sport. Then again i suporse world makes it sound better!!

Any sport in the Olympics usally hails a pretty decent crowd.
Then of course theres Tennis World Championships which usually has an intial array of people from all different countrys.
In fact theres loads of sports that do the same thing!
Cricket doesnt, o well ill live :)

Yeah but NONE of them draw as many as football by a long long shot. Thousands and thousands of people from EACH country turn up, There are millions of fans there when a world cup is on, Look at the last world cup in Japan and korea, Each of those stadiums hold like 70.000 fans plus a lot more than half of the fans that turn up in the country dont have tickets for a match to go to, They are there to taste the atmosphere!!!
Yes other sports bring people from other country's to one city, But not even close to as many as football!!!

That's baseball, which is also played in Japan and Canada. In fact, two Canadian teams are in the league. Well, one now, since Montreal moved to DC. I agree that "World Series" for baseball is a misnomer, but it technically passes muster.

It's all about Marketing. Having now one Canadian team playing in our leagues somehow gives the sport international status. Besides, We consider the NFL and NBA winners "World Champions" as well.

No like i sadi i do understand why they call it the world series, just not exactly the world is taking part.
The World Cup brings in more than the olympics by quite some way, The olympics is a good sport but it just does not have the same atmosphere as football!!

This is a totally pointless post Steve, and also are you contractually obliged to misspell at least one word in every post.
What you really wanted to ask is, What has the better atmosphere, Chelsea vs Arsenal for the top spot in our uk leagues or the Americans SuperBowl Final.
Id be willing to bet the SuperBowl has a phenominal amount of people watching it, and the fans love it.
Think how patriotic and 'stand by there side' it gets about its country in the war. I imagine that same emotion is then turned on their favourate team come the Superbowl, Also Their college leagues and Uni Leagues in terms of Skill averages far outweighs the lower unranked clubs we have.

No, it doesn't...but the Olympics does attract a lot more people.
I see it as this...
Multiple sports and events + Multiple stadiums for Multiple people = Multiple people overall
(...ok, so I like saying "Multiple")

Yes but what you have to realise that europe and most of south america is all about football. Coca Cola's main ad campaign over here was, eat football sleep football, drink cocacola, Says it all really, Yeah you might get people from each country going, But you are not likly to get 5 thousand people all from say france going to see a man sprint 100 meters. Football is massive. More poeple watch football than any other sport in europe. By a long long long way. Including athletics.
This is why world cup gets more people goning to it!!
