At least that's what the two Twin Cities newspapers are saying. Sounds like some people are getting pretty tired of Moss' antics, but will this really be the answer for the Vikings in hopes to have a more balanced (or at least good-natured) team fot next season? Yours thoughts...

i don't know if the front office is ready to make that big of a step just yet. i think if tice stays, moss stays. if they overhaul and tell tice to hit the road, i think they'll send moss packing, too. but that's just my opinion!

I wonder what they could get for him. On one hand, he's just about the most talented receiver in the NFL. On the other hand, there are so many merely "really good" receivers out there that I wonder how many teams would be willing to fork over enough draft picks/players to make it worth while. Especially since he's a bit of a cancer. Probably the Raiders would go for it. Anyway, it makes lots of sense from the Vikes perception. They've got a kick-ass QB, so they don't really need a big-time receiver anymore. And the rest of their receivers are plenty good anyway.

and that's where the dilemma begins for minnesota. like you said, good receivers are a dime a dozen. culpepper is an amazing qb; they could mold another wr to be exactly what they need. but, like you also said, what team is going to want to put out that kind of money to get moss (and the reputation that follows him)?

Sometimes if a team publicly tries to trade a player, and recieves no offers, it can send a message to the player. In the case of Moss, I doubt that will work. They will probably try to get what he is worth, but if they actually want to trade him they will be forced to take far less than his value. Salary cap considerations will make it difficult for many teams to fit him on their roster. Perhaps if he were willing to renegotiate his contract something could be worked out.

If Moss goes, I see Nate Burleson becoming the next big reciever for the Vikes...either him, or I'm sure they'll be willing to give Marcus Robinson a little more play time. Just about everyone on the O-line has had a stellar performance somewhere in the year. It was Denny Green's belief that an overpowered offense could win games by running up the score...which could explain why our defense is so torn up.

you're right. but we all know that defense will win a ball game. have a killer "D" and an ok offense, you've got a good chance at being victorious. have all the offense in the world and no defense, you may as well hand the opposing team the win.

If I were sitting in the role of a perspective team...with the worst recieving squad in the leauge...I still couldnt see myself purchasing Moss.

It sounds like the Vikes would be up for it for a defensive starter and a couple of draft picks. With that in mind, the most likely trade I'd think of would be with the Ravens. The Vikes would trade some of their abundant offense for a little defense and the Ravens would trade their abundant defense for a little offense.

Thing is, the Vikes would get the better end of that deal, since what the Ravens offense really needs is a better QB. Even Moss will only be able to make up so much for lousy passes.

I agree that the Ravens could use a good reciever like Moss...but would Kyle Boller give him the attention that Culpepper did if he goes there...or would Moss have as big of an impact on that franchise? Not to mention that if he is traded and we get a couple high draft picks plus a good defensive starter or whatever, we could have quite a force for next year, so long as we don't collapse midseason.

Maybe the Vikes can trade him to Dallas as revenge for that retarded Herschell Walker trade 20 or so years ago.

i think the 49ers should make a run at him, someone like him would really help them and bring out rattay's ability better.

they can have him and his attitude problem too.

Speaking of the Vikings, I would also like to congratulate Reggie Fowler on becoming the NFL's first minority team ownerfor the VIkings, taking the place of Red McCombs. Maybe some younger influence in the office will spark a better understanding between officials and players?
