The rumors are running rampant that Mike Sherman will lose his GM title in a few days. What do the Packer fans on the board (or anyone else who cares) think? I'm all for it. He seems to have a good mind for offense, but his drafts have stunk and his free agent pickups have been even worse.

I say its rebuilding time......Favre is not nearly the QB he used to be

The talent level of the Packers has declined a great deal during Sherman's tenure as GM. They used to be a deep and talented team. Now they have a pretty good starting team on offense, but the defense is dismal. The backups are not up to NFL standards. This can only be due to the poor drafts and free agent decisions. It is time to get someone in the GM position who will do what Ron Wolf did for the team.
Many coaches think they can be the GM as well. Most of the time it doesn't work out. I think one of the reasons is that they are too close to the players. It makes it hard to make the decision to drop someone who just isn't producing. It is also hard to make the evaluations of college talent. The coach is busy during the college season, and doesn't have time to see any of the top prospects play. Scouts reports are never the same as having seen the top prospects play.

He is indeed out, and Ted Thompson is in. Here is a link to his bio.

He almost has to be an improvement over Mike Sherman. Whether he will be as good as Ron Wolf remains to be seen. I hope he will, but my expectations are more modest.
