I was listening to the radio today and there was a ABC radio news story about how 4 execs from CBS got fired over the fallout from the phony Bush NG documents story. At the end of the story the reporter asked "so does this mean the entire media is biased? Well So and So Joe Blow from Syracuse University, an expert in media relations doesnt think so....blah blah blah...(long quote about how many good things the alphabet channels have done form Joe Blow)" then they went on at the end to say there was no need to take any action against dan rather since he was retiring in a few months anyway. What a crock of crap! the media gets an expert of their choice who happens to agree with them on to prove to us they are not biased. Whatever. then they say there is nothing they can do to Rather since he is retiring soon anyway. BS, how about firing his sorry fabricated document waving ass now, today, before he retires! Send a message to all those other journalists who may try to pass fake documents to bring down a president, if Dan Rather can get fired in shame at the end of his stellar carrer, you are not safe either.

I agree that the American mainstream Media is biased.

Collectively they are, for all intents and purposes, a virtual subsidiary of the Republican Party.

It is wrong to say that the *entire* media is biased in any way.

I do agree that most of the media is right wing in most situations. (And why not? Do you know how much money those reporters make??) But, studies have shown that journalists (therefore we can say, newspapers in general), while fiscally and militarily conservative, are usually socially liberal.

There is also the fact that some media outlets are (duh) biased in different ways and to different degrees than others.

I take it there is a good reason why the right wing media ran twice as many pro kerry pieces during the election then pro bush pieces right freethinker?

and darkfantasy, if being right or left wing is based on how much money you make, why is micheal moore and the rest of his communist hollywood mega millionaires so left wing? why am i right wing, i dont have milions of dollars, far from it.

Media is always biased - the hope is that there is always enough equaly biased views so it cancels itself out.

The firing of people at CBS was justified - they reported a load of rubbish and made the network look like fools - of course there should be discipliniary action if CBS are to maintain any credibility.

Source?

Most of the pieces that I saw were either neutral or --if they made any sort of independent value judgment at all-- a bit negative toward Kerry.

Considering the huge decline in the US economy over Bush's four years, the massive decline in positive world opinion toward the US under Bush, the 1200+ young people's lives he threw away for nothing, and the prospect of a never-ending and insanely expensive war effort, I thought it amazing just how little critical coverage there was about Bush.

But i am anxious to examine your source anyway.
