Do I sound too paranoid?

Just wondering.

What would online stalking entail ?

Are we talking like how hard would it be for someone to find you online............or meet you online and then stalk you in person?

Stalk you, hack you....get into your personal accounts....sabotage your machine......how hard is it?

ANswer honestly.......

With Microsoft anythings possible, If your using Linux your safer.

Theres been leaps and bounds in technology regarding this and to be honest the majority of threats youll run into and script kiddies or people who are downloading mass produced hacking tools designed to let them think they are these great hackers.

Unless you pissed off the owner of some elitest hacker site id say you were alright,

Take precautions such as using a decent firewall, never downloading random .exe's or .bat files and generally being nice (so your allright there) you shouldnt need to worry.

from my experience its the script kiddies that get their computers nuked most of the time, simply for being irratating in the warez sites and forums.

So chances are that no, it doesn't happen to the average, everyday person, but if someone wanted to bad enough, they could.
