I was listening to the Randi Rhodes show last night and heard some of the dumbest things I have ever heard. When I tuned in she was talking about Christians and how evil they were. she was complaining about how Christians want to teach alternatives to Darwinism alongside Darwinism in schools. She went on about how evolution was a FACT. how did she say it was a fact? she said plate tectonics and carbon dating of fossils and rocks proved it!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF???? that's not all though! seconds after that, she went on to say one of the stupidest things I have ever heard. She was talking about the holocaust against the Jews in WW2, and she went on to say how Hitler murdered them all in the name of Christianity!! I almost drove off the road. this lady really needs to do some research before spouting off like this. she looks like an idiot. and saying things like "Hitler killed the Jews in the name of Christianity" to impressionable mush heads like OD is not a good idea either, he may wind up a rabid anti-christian like echo and freethinker.

Actually, I heard that show also. Funny though, I heard it very differently from you. Randi said that the good german christians not only supported hitler but went along with his policies. Which is true. Very few of them did or said anything against his killing of the Jews. Agreement by complacency? Or was it just turning the other cheak because they were jews and not christians?

She also said that the religious right wants to teach superstition alongside scientific fact. I don't want to get into the whole creationism/darwin argument with you. We both know where the other stands. But I agree with her. You should look up how the word 'theory" is used in scientific circles. It is not the same as the general public. Evolution is a FACT. It has been proven. We see it everyday.

the goal was not to kill jews. Jews were killed I am sure but they didt go to jeruselum to take it back from the Jews.

The regular german army was not nazi. most german soldiers were religious men fighting for their coutnry, it was the nazi party and the deaths head SS units that ran the camps that were pagans and killed the jews in the gas chambers. dont get the SS units and regular german soldiers mixed up.

Hitler did not kill the jews in the name of christ, period. And the god is with us on the belt was a WW1 carry over. Hitler knew he could not remove god from the lives of his fighting men entirely, oand had to carry on old german traiditions as well. While they wore "god is with us" on their belts on the front lines hitler was closing up churchs and shipping off priests all over germany. Its a very intricate history, one a mush head like you should not be expected to understand.

From what I can glean from Shaman's link, apparently the existence of tectonic plates on Earth precludes the Earth being six to eight thousand years old.

I fail to see how. Don't get me wrong, I find it an irrefutable fact that the Earth is at least 4 billion years old. But I don't see how plate tectonics proves evolution at all. Especially considering that the former falls under the umbrella of geology and the latter relates to biology.

I never claimed that plate tectonics proved Darwinian evolution---and I HIGHLY doubt that Randi Rhodes made any such claim either.

I said that things like plate tectonics ---which serve to confirm current scientific theories as to the age of the planet--- and carbon dating provide evidentiary support to the theory of evolution.

If the Earth is ---as everyone here except the superstitionists would probably agree-- several billions of years old, it dovetails nicely with the Theory of Evolution while it totally discredits the Creationist claim that the Earth and everything in it is but 6000 years old.

I believe that that is what Randi Rhodes was alluding to on the radio show in question.
