Merry Christmas, oops, Happy Holidays.

Please don't say Happy New Year. Chinese New Year and the Hebrew calendar don't coincide.

Thank You ACLU

Same to you pal. Since we're in the Christmas spirit, you're the only one on these boards that will publicly change his mind on something. I'm hoping to be more like that for 2005 (don't hold your breath).

I will be spending the Planet-Earth-holidays, Christmas and New Years on assignment to the Jovian Institute of extraterrestrial studies in an undisclosed location many lightyears from our planet. At the moment, I am enroute to my assigned Deep Space Object (DSO) where I will act as an observer of the trial runs of new alien tracking test suites.

So far my trip has been wonderful, especially the flight north from Tharsis. The landscape passing below was stunning with the flat northern plains of Arcadia gradually giving way to harsher, more broken landscapes near the 'Polar Band' -- the collar of deep, dark dust dunes which surrounds the pole. Looking down on it from the shuttle I was amazed at the sight... row after row after row of dunes, with deep rift valleys between them, looking like a sepia-tinted snapshot of the Pacific, wave after wave of dunes, frozen in time... Soon we were over the dunes, and edging into the icy wilderness of the north polar desert, lit by the fading light of the sinking sun ... just a magical trip.

Having some extra time on my hands, I placed a call to Santa and Mrs. Clause to see if they needed Dop to help out with any of the logistics of delivering presents to 5 billion earthlings. They declined my help with endless thank you's and well wishes. They went on to mention how successful they were this year in developing some really kool toys -- so for all the little Dop-sters out there -- get a good nights sleep and chances are, in the morning you will find that special gift under the tree. The one you dream about and pray for.

For now, I have to reset all navigational, communications and defense systems for the last leg of our trip which takes place at xarp speed (warp speed to the 18181th power). The trip will take several years of Earth-time but thanks to the Roving Neutron Degeneracy Sensors, Dynamid Entity Cluster sets, Cosmic Back-ground Emissions tester and the Synchrotron Radiation detectors, the several years will be compressed into just a handfull of seconds. You will never know I have left.

So to one and all, I hope this holiday season finds you happy, healthy, and wise. May the true meaning of Christmas bless you with the peace that can only truly come from within, and as you celebrate our savior's birth, please take few moments out of your hectic schedule to pray for those men and women in our Armed Forces who will not be home for Christmas this year, and for the families of those who will not be coming home at all.

I bid you all Peace on Earth and good will to Man.

[IOW, the 180 degrees, diametric opposite of what the RightWing Conservative faction has planned for the planet.]

FT, like Shaman, apparently has no interests in life beyond complaining about politics.

merry christmas everyone!

i actually like christmas, even though I'm a jew. its kind of cool to go out and see everything pretty much deserted, and eat chinese food, and run into tons of other jews at the movies. most years people in my synagogue go out and volunteer and visit people at nursing homes and hospitals whose family aren't spending the whole day with them. i really like it, and unfortunately we can't do it this year because christmas is on a saturday and technically we're not supposed to drive anywhere. and last year our freinds had a party with bunch of jewish families and all these people got together and we had a really good. chrrismas is actually really cool for jews, if you look at it the right way, so nobody shuold be complaining. its really different from every toher day of the year and presents some pretty unique ooppurtunities.

Sorry.

When you find extreme Conservatism as unspeakably vile as I do, it's sometimes hard to refrain....

....but may all who post here have a merry Winter Solstice.

Christmas Mornin'

Good mornin' and HO HO HO...
Just put on a little Christmas music; Hendrix/Voodoo Child; helps set the tone for the day.
A quick cleanup from last nights big sloppy burger mess with tunes in the background and start another load of laundry. No tree this year. None of the commercial hoopla to celebrate today.
The Mrs is at work; later we'll have a nice dinner and open up a bottle of wine. For now a little blogging, surf the news and boards, some mornin' chores, drink some coffee and watch the birds...cool, calm, collected...

BTW..Have a nice day and great 2005.

ya overdose, if there was no line in the constitution that you intepreted to mean a "seperation of church and state" you would be fine with the government displaying large crosses on all building and vehicles
