We had to put our dog down today. He had lymphoma. Early in the year he had problems getting up and down the stairs and they couldn't figure out what was wrong with him. It got worse and worse and got to the point where his hind legs were completely paralyzed. They knew there was something in his spine but they couldn't figure out what it was. Turned out it was cancer. They never suspected because he was so young (3.5 years old). The vets at OSU gave him a 10% chance of ever walking again but sure enough, the next day he was stumbling around. It was pretty amazing. It was in remission for about six months but it came back again and he was obviously in pain. We wanted to see if we could get him past the holidays but we ultimately decided that we were being selfish, so I had to take him to the vet tonight. He was the most amazing dog. Completely mellow and gentle. Never nipped at anyone - even when the baby was ripping his fur out. Reese will be missed.

I'm sorry for your loss LionelHutz. Animals are the most amazing creatures. They give us inconditional love. No human can do that.

So sorry, Lionel. I remember when I had to put my cat Dakota down in...September of last year? She had cancer as well. I could never hope to have a cat as good as her again...well enough about me.
