My colleagues’ son was killed yesterday in Iraq. He was 19 years old and had barely begun his life. A young man who was proud to defend his country and signed up after 9-11 to fight terrorism. He wrote many letters home questioning being sent to Iraq rather than after the terrorists. His letters about how the troops felt about being in Iraq where full of confusion about the mission there and regret for signing up to defend America and ending up invading and colonializing other nations.

He was a hero, and will be remembered.

Sorry to hear about the loss, echo. Serving your country- no matter what the reason - is one of the greatest things one can do. May he rest in peace.
