I have been waiting for the chance for my 5 year old son and I to get our Flu Shots. For some reason because of all the Hype I am thinking we are waiting for our chance to be saved. LOL.
I understand that the elderly and the babies need the Flu Shots more desperately to survive, because of lower immune systems. However I am concerned about this because the groups that are allowed Flu Shots are not the working class of people. I was talking to a lady at work and when I said "I can't afford to get sick" I meant it literally, she responded with the same. Well....if all the working class gets sick and cannot go to work how the Hell are we able to pay for the Social Security for the elderly or the Welfare to the mothers of the young children. If I get the Flu... I have To go to work, which will mean that I will infect 100's of people because I work in Customer service. If my son gets sick, I cannot put him in daycare and go to work, which also means that I am losing out on money, and the government is losing out on taxes.

I understand this may seem insensitive, but I believe it should be first come first serve, I know I will not be as available to go to the clinic and stand in line as a retired person would, so this should give them some comfort. I don't know what else to say other then the fact I feel that everyone should be allowed to get a Flu shot.

Are flu shots necessary for the whole population ? i doubt it.
Just think about it - many people (10-20 % ?) react badly to flu shots. And they are in fact not very effective - depending on the year and the flu virus, they are only 40 to 60 % effective. But, as in fact only a few percent of the population would in fact be contamined by the flu virus, that means much pmore people will be sick because of the shot than because of the flu.
Flu is not a deadly disease. let yout body fight it and produce its own defense rather that relying on a vaccine that has in many case proven to be harmful.

Astra is right, people do get sick from simply taking the flu shots sometimes. 10-20%, I"m sure that's probably the right number, but it sure seems higher. Personally, I've gotten to where I would rather take my chances than take the shot. It seems like the odd in getting the flu is the same either way, except one way, you don't get a sticker in your arm. :)

I'm middle aged and I've never(since a child) had the flu shot neither has my wife. The flu shot is just another hype to get folks wound up. I'm sure there are those few out there that need it, but for the other 90% let your body do what it is suppose to. If you are healthy no matter what age then let the natural course of life happen. Every time we inject or take a magic pill all we are doing is making ourselfs weaker. Pills are not the answer to everything and they get WAY to much credit, the body can and WILL beat many ills, just give it a chance and quit listening to the money makers.

Because of my heart attack back in August my Doctor advises me to get a flu shop. I have never had one. I know there are many stains of flu and the shot only protects you from a few of them. I have always been skeptical of the shot. I am hard headed and probably will not get one.
I hear pros and cons from both sides.

I also suffer from heart disease. I've had a few flu shots during past years but after having read more about them I decided not to get some any more.
But I guess it depends from your precise health condition.
I will try to find you more info about this.

It's probably mostly psychological anyway. If you feel like the magical injection will make you invicible, chances are you'll stay healthy. I heard that echinacea actually makes people more susceptible to illness, but those who take it believe it's wonderful... and therefore do not get sick. Power of positive thinking... I BELIEVE I can FLYYYYYY!!!!! :)
