We buy a small, live tree, in a pot, decorate it for the holiday, nurture it through the winter & then plant it in a good place.

You forgot to add flocked trees to the list.

We have a fake tree, but I gotta say the real ones are better. I always loved going out as a kid and picking one up with my dad....good times, good times.

fake.

But only because I read a children's story when I was little about this tree that was never picked, and always wanted to be, then one day he gets cut down, decorated, is real happy for a few weeks and then gets thrown out. Put me off real xmas trees for good. I feel sorry for the damn trees...

I don't celebrate xmas. But years ago when I did I used to have an "un-tree". It was a xmas tree stand mounted on the ceiling facing down and fishing line strung down so the lights could be hung circularly around it to the point at the bottom. With the house lights off and the xmas tree lights on it looked like an upside down tree.

Just never could get into the xmas thing.

Every year, we make our annual trek to the hardware store to pick out a Douglas Fir!

I would love to have a real tree. Need to buy a house first though,(in the process).

The thing about a real tree is that after it's been used, you can take it to your local lake, attach weights to it, and submerge it. The tree will attract fish. Kind of a second life for a killed tree.

ask sandy; it's kinda hard to feel christmas-sy when it's 80 degrees out. but real or fake, i'd take the fake. i can make a fake tree look real; and i don't get pricked until i bleed from those doggone needles!!

Beautiful tree with ornaments the size of volley balls and surrounded by palms.

We don't like cleaning up needles! Plus, my fake tree is pre-strung with lights. Woohoo!

overdose, i said that's real life. it sounds good to say you want a real tree; hell, i want to go out into a forest a cut one down and drag it home myself. but reality is, my friend, that i have 4 kids and go to school full time; where's the time? instead, my kids, their dad, and i take "old faithful" out and decorate it together. best i can do!!

I remember one Christmas when we went to this mountain and cut off a lot of twigs. Then, we arranged them to look like a tree. It was fun!

just to let y'all know...i took one of my sons with me today and let him pick out a REAL tree. he wanted it. he's having surgery soon (to remove a cystic mass from above his left ear) and he may be in the hospital for most of the holidays. so i made the time (4 lots, 2 hours) and we found the perfect tree.
