When I was probly around 3 or so, I used to say I wanted to be a bald headed baby boy when I grew up...hehe...I guess I didnt know what I was talking about. When I got a little older, I wanted to be a teacher. That didnt happen! What about the rest of you? What did you want to be, and are you doing that now?

as long as i remember I wanted to help animals and be a veterinarian. I still like them and all but now that I am a mother I know this is my purpose. Kids are the most challenging animals of all.
Very clever little things.
One of my twins has a neuromuscular movement disorder, which renders her without the coordination, yet to speaak. So my job in life is to find the keys that enable her to communicaate. I cannot picture another way to find purpose in life, this is it. She has a sharp mind, so these things we are learninng together, are enabling her to make choices, and to verbalize her thoughts. THe pride she feels is infectious and there is nothing more rewarding.........
Her sister affects me in this same way but differenttly. Her verbalization skills are sharp, and the whole learning to talk thing has me stupefied each day, so you can say that what I ended up doing has made me pretty lucky.......

Don't give up the dream. That's exactly what I turned out to be!
Actually, I wanted to be a firefighter. I also wanted to be a sailor. So, I joined the Coast Guard and got to do a little bit of both. I never should've left.

In first grade I wanted to be a mouseketeer. I wanted this so I could hang out with Annette Funicello. I pursued it to the point of writing to Disney and finding out what the requirements were. This led me to take tap dancing lessons. My mother carefully didn't point out that living in Los Angeles was also required.
These days I am a supervisor with a Janitorial Company.

When I was four and five I wanted to be Zorro. Obviously that fell through... I'm a regional manager for a well known non profit agency. I still dress up as Zorro on Halloweed every year.

James Bond. Something like Matt Damon's Jason Bourne character. Highly mysterious, adaptable to environment, dangerous, physically and mentally sharp, get hot chicks, can do almost anything, go anywhere, get anything I wanted, solve any random situation, have extensive intelligent network, speak 50 languages etc. etc. etc. All this is really cool to me as a kid even up til teen years. Basically a man who has a lot of things under control but does not need to be in a managerial position sitting in an office or run a company. Lots of freedom and power. Take a couple jobs a year, then boom vacation time.
Other options include video game designers/tester, food critic, travel writer (like Paul Theroux).

i also wanted to be an olympic gymnast. I stayed on that path for 10 years, (starting when I was four) and Mary Luou Retton was my biggest inspiration even though she was American. I got real tall and had several repettive injuries, messed up my knee and ankle and shoulder, and had tons of fun along the way. I'm not disappointed, (cause really how many people get to go to the olympics) it was good because every discipline i have in my life came from that which I learned in training. Plus i'm healthy and strong and did't get any concussions ever and am still able to show my kids how to do cartwheels and stuff, so I am thankful my parents encouraged me in my endeavors.....
makes me wonder where my children's interests will lie in the future, I am so excited for them......

Always want to be a doc, medical school just wasn't in the cards for me as life panned out. Oh well. Worked in the medical field for over 30 years before changing careers. I had fun most of the time.

i wanted to be a teacher during the week and an emergency veterinarian on the weekend. then, when i got older and realized that teachers don't get paid squat, i decided to focus on veterinary medicine.
fastforward 20 years and i'm a retired waitress/bartender that's going to school to be a corporate accountant.
didn't see that coming!!
