President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz expressed shock and condoled the demise of the president and founding father of United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan al-Nahayan.
Sheikh Zayed, was around 90 and governed the seven-member Gulf federation since 1971.

How will you go about chosing a new leader? I hope it is better than our last two elections.

We don't choose, the federal council does.
"Under the constitution, Vice-President and Prime Minister Shaikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, ruler of Dubai, will act as president until the federal council, which groups rulers of the seven emirates, meets within 30 days to elect a president.
Officials expect the council to elect Shaikh Khalifa president with power remaining in Abu Dhabi where 93 per cent of the oil wealth is concentrated.
Shaikh Khalifa, 56, has been increasingly running the UAE. He heads Abu Dhabi's Supreme Petroleum Council, which drafts oil policy, and is deputy supreme commander of the armed forces. The pro-Western moderniser also heads the UAE's economic body."

During the 70s, before His Highness Sheikh Rashed Al Maktoum, ruler of Dubai at the time, passed away, a document was passed stating the ruling of the UAE go to the ruler of Dubai in case the ruler of the UAE passed away. The current ruler of Dubai is Sheikh Rashed's son, Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashed.
Sheikh Zayed, ruler of the UAE, was also ruler of AbuDhabi, the nation's capital. His son, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed, would be the ruler of AbuDhabi in the case of His Highness's death. Now that he did die, Sheikh Khalifa took over the ruling of Abu Dhabi.
They announced it late last night, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed was elected as the ruler of the UAE.
We're happy with any result, they're all excellent leaders.
