seeing the ambulance chaser pounce on the dead body of christopher reeves for political gain before it even goes cold does not suprise me. it is also not suprising to see him try and blame the death of christopher reeves from an infection on bush not putting even more government money into unproven stem cell research. I would like to hear one time the odds of stem cell research doing anything anytime son that will cure anyone alive today who is bound to a wheel chair. not once has anyone said what the odds were or what the time frame is. sure, eventually stem cell research may yield some results, but to say bush killed superman is a bit melodramatic, and irresponsible. Just as it is irresponsible to tell a bunch of crippled people that they are on the verge of being cured, only if we could get a few billion more dollars when nothing of the sort is even on the horizon.

another think was dick durbin on the floor of the senate with a pen, a piece of paper and a big portrait of poor old christopher reeves. he put a dot on the paper and held it up next to the pic of reeves, and said bush chose the dot, as in a group of cells, instead of poor old christopher reeves, who he just let die to save a dot. a dot of cells he said contained life, just like his skin cells, hair cells or an aids virus! imagine that, the democrats now say a human embryo has the same worht as an aids virus, thats wonderful

You have to take the whole quote in context, less you be accused of spinning"

'When John Kerry is president, people like Christopher Reeve are going to walk. Get up out of that wheelchair and walk again. Have you been injured in a wreck and are stuck in a wheel chair? Did your accident leave you with large medical bills? Call 1-800-EDWARDS. I'll fight to get you the money you deserve.'

Alright, looks good to me. The quote is a teensy bit different than first reported by Brooks, and that teensy bit makes it seem less like he's capitalizing on Reeve's death...but good enough.

"If we do the work that we can do in this country, the work that we will do when John Kerry is president, people like Christopher Reeve will get up out of that wheelchair and walk again," Edwards said.

I think my original quote matches CNN's. Nice job though, making me the issue.

As Ronco would say, "But wait, there's more":
We will do stem cell research," he vowed. "We will stop juvenile diabetes, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and other debilitating diseases.

Appears that the ambulance chaser is following his real guiding light in studying how to be a great VP ... that other star of screen & vp dom, the one & only...the self-proclaimed inventor of the Internet, al "bore" gore.

You know it occurs to me that when we are talking about this form of research, I have to ask the question, if you had a child with cancer and you had a younger child, a genetic match to the older one with cancer, and the younger could be used to save the older by going through endless transfusions, bone marrow transplants, and blood. Would you force the younger child to do this even if they didnt want to? Would you let the other child just be a harvest for the older? because this is what stem cell research is doing.
