Can anyone think of any way to stop a nuclear weapon? I've heard from a semi-reliable source that Carbon could stop a nuclear reacton, so if that was true, could a country shoot continuous streams of Carbon into a nuke to stop it from going off? Or might that the country could create a sheild to protect themselves? I've just been wondering about this for some time.

MY understanding is the on;y way top stop a nuc,ear weapon is to blow it up BEFORE it hits the target. Unfortunstely, whoever you blow it up over is going to have to deal with the fallout.
Think about what would happen if one was blown up in the earths stratasphere?
If the terrorists get ahold of one of these weapun we might as well kiss large portions of the earth goodbye.

I believe carbon absorbs the various nuclear particles that go shooting around during a nuclear reaction, which is why they use carbon rods to control fission. They pull them out to really get a reaction going and they put them in to slow it down or bring it to a halt. But they wouldn't do anything until the reaction started - i.e. after the bomb went off. But I guess if you somehow managed to instantly transport massive amounts of carbon around a bomb that began fission a few billionths of a second ago you could absorb all of the particles being emitted, preventing them from continuing fission.
So basically, no, there's no way to stop a nuclear bomb.
