Teacher Sends Boy Home With Feces in Bag
DALLAS (AP) - A teacher is on paid administrative leave after sending a first-grader home with feces in his backpack because the boy soiled the classroom floor.
The teacher apparently was frustrated with the 6-year-old student's actions so she wrapped up the waste and sent it home with the boy Tuesday along with a note, Dallas school district spokesman Donald Claxton said.
Claxton declined to identify the teacher at Gabe P. Allen Elementary School.
"It generally appears the teacher was trying to help raise awareness with the family," Claxton said. "It's just an unfortunate incident. Unfortunately, she took this course of action."

The kids at school are going to have a ball with this. We can thank his teacher for getting him off to such a fine start with the educational process. What child woulnd't eagerly go to school the next morning, for the next 18 years or so?

Maybe she was trying to tell the parents it's time to do something about their kids bathroom habits. I suspect this isn't the first time she has had to deal with this kid crapping in her classroom. Notice he didn't do it in his pants, but on the floor.
Teachers should not have to clean up after children who crap on the floor of their classrooms. If the kid won't shit in the toilet he shouldn't be attending public school.

Such behavior by an adult is unacceptable. The fact that this individual is entrusted with the smallest of the kids makes it doubly so. Nothing about her reaction to this incident is going to help that kid one bit. We aren't given enough information here to determine if this is a display of encopresis, or if the child had an immediate call from Mother Nature and the bathroom was simply to far away.

He basically has to transfer to another district. Otherwise he's going to be a basket case for life.

I don't think transferring to another district would help. This story is already out on the news and whoever hears about it could eventually embarass this kid for years on end. But I agree too, why hasn't the teacher been fired? This is no way to treat a child.

What would you child lovers do if a kid purposely took a dump on the floor of your classroom? Notice he didn't do it in his pants. He did it on the floor. Big difference.
And what if this wasn't the first time this kid crapped on your floor. What if this was the 9th or 10th time and his parents were doing nothing about it? How would you respond? How would you get the kids attention? How would you get the parents attention? Remember, teaches have no authority in a classroom anymore. They cannot discipline a child, raise their voice at a child, or isolate a child. How would you get the parents to do something if they had repeateddly ignored the problem each time you informed them that their kid was purposely crapping on the floor of a public building?

You appear to be drawing a lot of conclusions here. IF the situation is as you describe it, then the teacher certainly has means through the school administrators, the school health staff, and if necessary, reaching outside of the school to resources within the community.

Obviously you don't have much experience with school administrations. They will do nothing. They have no power to force the parents to do anything and they cannot do anything to the child. Most schools don't have a health staff anymore because they can't afford them. As for resources within the community....what resources do you propose a teacher go to for help with a child that purposely craps on the floor?

You know nothing of my experiential resources.
If the school administration lacks the ability to respond to the type of situation you describe, then the teacher can reach out - Child & Family Services & the County's Public Health Service - come to mind very quickly.

I'm all for tough love and standing behind teachers, but the kid's obviously got some sort of mental issue that this isn't going to help. No six year old craps on the floor to be cool - there's obviously something else going on here and this isn't helping.

you say child lover like it's a bad thing. i can think of very few things more despicable thna someone who is unmerciful with children. it's exceedingly important to treat young kids properly becasue what happens early on in life effects a person for the rest of their life. children are the future of our society and it is sooo important to take care of them.

I think our society has come to a point where children can do no wrong. Been to a grocery store lately? Children screaming and yelling and throwing things, running up and down the isles knocking old people over and their paretns do nothing. Probubly because if they did the child lovers would have them arrested for child abuse. You can't even swat your own misbehaving kid on the butt anymore. I don't advocate capital punishment or beating children, but the lack of discipline kids get today is appalling.
This kid should have been put in diapers and sent home with a note that he would not be welcome back without them. Teachers should not have to be cleaning up human shit from the floors of their classrooms.
Is it any wonder the kids don't learn when the teachers have to deal with crap like this? No pun intended. Teachers are there to teach, not scoop manure.

Nothing in the news article provides you with any evidence as to just what the situation with the kid & that teacher involves, Echo. You've gone off the deep end here.

It's a wonder anything can still be considered to cause trauma to this child. We are talking about crapping on the floor, 6 year old here. Suddenly having to pack up his own crap home is "traumatic." It sort of pales in comparison to what his peers had to endure...
For all you know the kid was probly some foriegner.. they are used to doing that sort of thing.
My question is why didn't the teacher notice when the kid first started pulling down his pants and lead him to the bathroom then. Nope. Instead let's the kid go on about it and finish.
And yes..what about the fellow students around the kid? I for one would be pretty pissed if I had a daughter and she watched some boy expose himself in school.
