i caught some of it......I like how Bush approached it. He didn't back down and beg for help, he told all the reps that this is what we are going to do.
He explained that democracy isn't Just american, but a way for people to have rights and be free. Democracy lets the people decide(supposedly).....
He started a United Nations fund for help in the war against Iraq. After a big initial addition from the U.S...hopefully other countries will help us calm down the most war-infested area in the world(the middle east), and give funds or military help.
Too many people are so quick to say that Bush is taking down our international relations...but should we be peer pressured to not act just because other people don't want to do it? I say its good we took a stand, and if other nations actually care about what goes on over there maybe they'll come around. I think there's just too much money that saddam was making for other nations, and they are all mad that we took him down.

We were coerced into going into vietnam with vieled threats that communism would spread and eat us up.
For over a decade durring the vietnam war, we heard the battle cry of "Stay the course, stay the course".
When we finally came to our senses and stopped "staying the course", communism didn't eat us up.
I suggest that all the people that believe we need to go to Iraq and fight, pack their bags and go fight in Iraq. But alas, most of them have excuses, they want someone else to do it.
Ever notice that the ones that cry war the loudest are the last to march off to a foriegn soil and die?

We didn't stay the couse in vietnam. Read your history. We realized we were fighting a battle that couldn't be won and we pulled out.
Communism in Russia was not brought down by tanks. It was brought down with economics.

we stayed long enough to let them know we were not playing games, and in the end, we won

Were you around when Saigon fell? Are you aware that we just gave up and pulled out after a decade of death that didn't accomplish a thing? We went into vietnam to keep the North vietnamese from spreading their communism to the south vietnamese. We failed and Saigin fell March 28th, 1973.
58,156 Americans lost their lives and we did not achieve our goal.
I would not call that a "win".

We won? I think the people living in Vietnam would disagree with you.

once again you cant see the forest through the trees. Yes, we pulled dout of vietnam in disgrace, yes, we lost a lot of men. Militarily we were defeating the North Vietnamese, politically, with the help of John Kerry and the others, they defeated us. N Vietnamese General Giap, commander of communist forces, even said that they were about to call uncle, but the anti war supporters did enough to keep them in the game and eventually force us to leave. Be that as it may, in the end, its the capitalist americans, not the communist vietnamese or russians, who are the world power. so, we did win. you have a real problem with seeing the big picture echo. I know you want to save ameican lives, and that is a noble venture, but there are things worth fighting for. In the family of nations, credibility and being know for backing up what you say is very important, probalb yt most importtant thing there is. without respect from other nations you are nothing. look at the N, a whole collection of nations that wont back up its on threats. the world may not lik eus, but they respect us, and know f we say you got a deadlie to meet or wea re attacking, then god damnit we will attack, so you better do it.

The problem with vietnam is that the thing we were fighting was intangible, and could not hurt us anyway. Terrorism is very real and very dangerous.
