Voter registration drives aimed at young people are turning 18- to 24-year-olds into an important variable in the presidential election, especially in decisive battleground states such as Michigan where nearly 100,000 young people have registered in recent months and Wisconsin, where the numbers are even higher.
Officials in several other battleground states New Mexico, Ohio and Florida among them see clear signs that more young people are interested in this election. And some election experts believe that polls of ''likely voters'' often miss young people because the population is so mobile.
Thank God for the kids! (I can all them that, being 50).They're not anywhere near as vapid or ignorant as many would like to claim. They see what is happening to the planet, environment, our political system and they are NOT happy, nor should they be.
I can honestly tell you that of the dozen or so young adults (18 to 25) in my life...NONE of them have a land line, they are all cell phone kids, so they are not counted in the polls....and each of these young people has friends that are all cell phone kids...they are all registering, they are all pissed, and they are voting Kerry, and they are all not in the poll pool, most are college graduates. They are all aware of the draft...every last one of them. Totally educated in it and informed...yes the girls too. Young adults from all across the country, completely educated on the deficit, the war, terrorism...etc. They are smart, savvy and highly informed on many fronts.
Young Americans everywhere. know that unless they want a new wardrobe, courtesy of the US government they had better vote democratic. They know dubbya will not stop with Iraq.

leave it to the democrats to try and scare people into voting for them. "if the republicans get in you will ahve to choose between food and medicine" " if the republicans get in you will be crinking poisoned water" "if the republicans get in you wil lose your civil libreties"if the republicasn get in you will get sent to iraq". It goes on and on. the reason the democrats are losing everything is becasue they no longer have only the left leaning mass media to help push their klies, people are more informed in this day and age and know when someone is trying to bully them into a certain point of view, such as, if you odnt vote for kerry, you will surely suffer under Bush, maybe even get sent to Iraq!and you old folks dont get a pass, either! its dog food or medicne, dog food or heat. you really need a new tactic, people are not as uninformed as they used to be.

Democrats don't have to scare anyone into doing anything. dubbya has anyone with half a brain scared, and the 18 to 25 croud knows who will pay the price if he is elected.
I don't see all you dubbya supposrters running down to sign up to fight in this war. Obviously they are willing to vote for it but not fight in it. Typical, talk and act tough but when it comes down to actually doing something....let someone elses kid go die.

your right, I am positive every single person volunteering for the military right now is an anti war kerry supporter. Republicans, and more specifically Bush supporters, never serve their country.

Well trav, you have been gung ho for this war since the beginning. Have you enlisted yet? Have any of your children? Immediate family members?
I served my country durring vietnam, and my daighter is of draft age right now.
Put your life where your mouth is if you are so anxious to have Americans die for the Iraqi people.

No, I have not enlisted yet, and neither have my children. since they are 4 and 2 years old respectively I dont think they are quite ready. I do have quite a few friends who have served in Iraq or are serving there now and some about to go for the first time. If my country wants me back they know where i live.

Sure Trav, leave it to the Democrats...
“It’s absolutely essential that eight weeks from today, on November 2, we make the right choice, because if we make the wrong choice then the danger is that we’ll get hit again and we’ll be hit in a way that will be devastating from the standpoint of the United States,”-- Dick Cheney, 9-8-04
Damn...I guess Cheney must really be a Democrat...

No, Trav, it's the Vice President who is running for re-election. It's not just a "republican"...but since he is a republican, it puts many flaws in your sad argument.

the statement isn't flawed OD...if you say the dems AREN'T trying to scare people to vote for Kerry than you're ignorant.
Listen to Echo...geez. Hey im 22 and im voting for bush. If these "brilliant' kids you hang around are so educated, than they would realize kerry's record is below average AT BEST and not just vote for kerry just to say they didnt vote for bush.
Look the campaign strategy!!! the democrats are desperate for people to vote!!! They want the dumbed down public who aren't in politics to come out and vote for them. Thats the way i see it...i dont see Bush's daughters campaigning around the nation to get teens to vote, i see kerry's. Echo, your attempt to pass off the notion that educated people vote for kerry is opposite of the truth in my opinion. why is it that more black people vote for kerry, and more poor people vote for kerry? because they are uneducated....bling!

My son in Minneapolis has worked the past two week-ends at polictical registration site there, and he tells me the young men and women are crazy about this election. He says about 73% that register are going for the Democrat party..
You are correct Echo2, those with cell phones, and there are millions out there, who I think will vote now.
It looks very good for the Democrats..

Having lived in Minneapolis, it's not what I would call a politically diverse community. Remember, the state as a whole was the only state that Mondale won . . .

That's an overly broad generalization, I think. But getting to your main point, I have to agree. I hear over and over again how educated democrats are and how republicans are all stupid rednecks. And then they turn around and tell us that CEOs and rich businessmen are republicans and good-ole union guys are democrats. I'm having a hard time reconciling these points.

The conception is that D's are made up of poor immigrants, college professors and students and union workers. And that R's are made up of wealthy elitists, military people and red neck good ol boys.
As with all generalizations there is a smatering of truth, but the fact is that our population has become so diverse that one cannot truly define either party.
Both parties have some good ideas and both have some bad ones. Anyone that thinks that one party is all good and right about everything and the other is all bad and wrong about everything has their head up a very dark, smelly place.
