Besides, im my humble opinion, it was the players who were acting like idiots. No one charged them or threatened bodily harm against them. Thin skinned athletes....lmao. Whats the world coming to?

What about that cell phone upside Everett's head last season? This fans vs. Rangers fued has been brewing a long time. Just because fans buy a ticket to a game gives them no right to verbally abuse the opposite team all night long. Sure a little trash talk is fine but by the fans own admission they were harassing the team and over stepped the line.
Probably had lawsuit on their mind when they bought the tickets. Hell they figured if that old lady can get millions from McD's for spilling a coffee on her then they would be entitled to a handout.

Handout? What planet are you from? He broke her nose with a chair. I didnt see any of the fans out on the field threatening the players. The fans were in their area talking shit. Whats the harm in that?

If you and I disagree in a public place, we can talk all the shit in the world to each other and never get in trouble. If you pick up a chair and bash my brains in, in my opinion, thats stepping over the line a bit.

Man, people who hero worship these spoiled ass athletes should get a clue and realize they are only human and not perfect.

As far as the cell phone to Everett's head, i do not see the relevance to this incedent. Did any of the fans hit the Rangers players with a cell phone or throw a chair at any of the Rangers players? Because if thats the case Buck Showalter is selling his team down the river. He has already come out and condmned the actions of his team, saying there was no reason for it to have escalated to the level it did.

So you are saying it's alright for a fan to bash a player all night long to the point of escalation and then if the situation gets out of control you are all for lawsuits galore?
I'll gladly mouth all night then and take a broken nose for a settlement.
You are not a lawyer by chance are you?

A player can defend themselves with the same level of violence that is being directed at them. If they get verbally abused, verbally abuse them back. If they get stuff thrown at them, throw stuff back. If they get hit, hit back. But they get paid an awful lot of money to put up with stupid fans. They clearly went over the line here. And yes, I'm a lawyer.

So Lionel what we have here is a settlement awarded to a stupid party. Some fans just don't know when to keep their mouths shut.

That statement sounds like something from one of those macho, swaggering assholes who figures he has the right to smash anyone in the face that says someting he doesn't like. You know, the kinda guys that are too dumb to back away from a verbal insult.

Let me see, yelling insults verses smashing a chiar into someones face. Which is more stupid? Which is more harmfull? Which will cause the most damage? Which will cost money to repair? Which actually causes bodily harm

Didn't you mother ever teach you that little ryme...

Sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me?

Violence is the last resort of the incompetant.

I hate lawyers (hey lionel, lets make this a blanket exclusion where you know you're excluded whenever i spout my lawyer venom, ok?) almost as much as i hate spoiled athletes that think they are above the law and should not be held acountable for their actions. Thank God the majority of athletes are not like this because im an avid sports fan.

You are not a lawyer by chance are you? Yes, I am saying that as a fan you have the right to heckle the teams. If you become beligerent and make threats against the players, then that is crossing a line and security should escort you out. If you do not escalate it to anything beyond words then no physical harm should befall you at all.

If an athlete gets offended at ANYTHING that comes out of your mouth and hits you in your face with a chair and breaks your face, then IMO you should be eligible for financial compensation.

Not at all Echo, I just don't feel that the purchase of a ticket entitles a fan to verbally bash a player or REF for that matter the entire game which evidently happened in this case. The stupid fans should have been tossed before the escalation of events.

From what I have heard the fan was past beligerent and should have been escorted out then.

Ref, if he had gone into the stands, grabbed the guy by the shirt, lifted him off the ground, and told him to shut the f___ up, I'd honestly be behind him. Are you one of those people who defends sports personalities no matter what?
