As a Brit living in Canada I cannot believe the crap I read in one of our newspapers.

NEW YORK -- Evoking the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks at every opportunity, Republicans inaugurated their national convention yesterday with a portrayal of President George W. Bush as a wartime leader comparable to the likes of Sir Winston Churchill.

The GOP will say anything to make the idiot look like something better than he is.

Calling him the war time rat would be a step up in my book.:p

Looked on the net for further Bush-Churchill comparisons and found this beauty of a quote from George W when visiting London.

The President added, "Sometimes Churchill will talk back, sometimes he won't, depending upon the stress of the moment, but he is a constant reminder of what a great leader is like."

HEY NUMBNUTS. NEWSFLASH FOR YOU. CHURCHILL IS DEAD. TRY USING THE CORRECT TENSE NEXT TIME.

Sorry, am still p*ssed at the comparison.

Churchill was one of the greatest war time leaders of all time, a man with real backbone and determination. if htere had to be a comparison, I can see some comparisons being drawn to bush more then any other leader around.

The only thing Bush and Churchill have in common is that they are/were both white men. Any other comparison is a farce.

Very true Our draft dodging, AWOL, frozen in the headlights for seven minutes, can't decide whether to call himself a war pres or a peace pres, fauz leader is nothing like Churchill. And he should be ashamed of himself for denegrating Churchills name by even useing it in the same sentence as his.

This joker is reaching far and wide to try and make himself look good. His desperation is showing.

Hehe, Bush has now been compared to both Churchill and Hitler.

That is just plain wrong.

Hearing Churchill being compared to Bush is enough to make my ears bleed. Why is the comparison wrong? Churchill was a brilliant man who helped his country survive in its most dire hour against a clear threat from Nazi Germany. A legendary leader and inspiration to all Allies, Churchill was one of the key reasons Britain never fell to the Nazis.

Then there's Bush, who likes to think of himself as a war time prez. Unfortunately, he has none of the genius, leadership or judgemental capabilities that made Churchill such a great man. He ignored the advice of our allies, sent troops in undermanned, couldn't make up his mind why we needed to be there, went into Iraq without any concept of the reaction the world would have, used shoddy intelligence to back his claim, didn't let the weapons inspectors do their job.... Yeah, he's the Anti-Churchill.

To get just an inch or two off topic if I may....I think if there is any one leader in this country that could compare to Churchill....it would have to be Rudy Guilliani.
