George W. Bush (or more accurately, a recording of GWB) left me a voicemail this morning telling me to be sure to fill out the absentee ballot request that I'll be getting in the mail in a few days. I thought the focus on the absentee ballot was sort of interesting.

Our Senate primaries are tommorow and because my mom recently changed her party affiliation (repub to dem), she is getting phone calls from Betty Castor, Peter Deutche, Mel Martinez, and Bill McCullum. I think she is voting for Castor tommorow but these messages are getting hella annoying!

Dunno, unless they're trying to make sure every single person votes. I guess I'll find out in a week or so, but I bet the application for an absentee ballot will being mailed from GOP HQ, not the county election board.
I plan on voting live and in person.

Absentee ballots are for losers. There's no guarantee your ballot will ever be counted.
What's stopping a volunteer poll worker from simply tossing your ballot in the garbage right next to his Burger King bag?
And does your state really count absentee ballots every time or only use them as tie-breakers when the poll results are within some small, pre-defined percentage like 2% or 3%?
If you want your vote to count, then get your rear end down to the polling center and do it and when you get home you can ask TIVO who was kicked off the Island while you were out partaking in your constitutional rights. You won't miss anything.
Stalin taught us this -- except for the TIVO part. :D

I got my absentee ballot request form. Came right from GOP HQ, not from the county. My mom in Wisconsin reports that she got the GWB voice mail too and that the GOP sent my dad (who has been dead for 8 years now) and myself (who has never lived at my mom's current address) absentee ballot request forms as well. I'm just wondering why they're so sure that we'll all vote for Bush.
Anyway, I think it's clear that the GOP wants me to vote in two different states and of course stuff the ballot box with votes from dead people. A conspiracy!
