View Full Version : A Little Board History

Few current members will remember this guy...but when he was around, he was the ultimate in clogging the board with useless posts. His were long and annoying, and he was very troll-ish in nature. All board members hated him.
His name was Tentmaker.
I post this so all you more-recent members can be educated as to how, exactly, a user can destroy a board. Tentmaker scared off some veteran members at the time. He also made the Allforums much less enjoyable. In short, he was TAF with less stupidity and more troll. Here are some excerpts from his 526 posts...

The mini-scum-sucking liberals getting out at McD's with their pants down around their knees (see their obese asses hanging out?) are the future of America.

Of course, the rational know the SCUM-SUCKING LIBERALS have their heads at maximum depth up their ASSES.

BORG AS MODERATOR OF ANY BOARD IS AN INSULT.
That last one was posted right after I became a mod. This rattled him enough to leave for good. He never was banned, but luckily he hasn't returned since he left. I assume that's because of his hatred for me.
So there you have it: the low point in Allforums history. The guy who would insult people post after posts and thought he was head-and-shoulders above everyone else, when in fact he was not. So now you know...the rest of the story. ;)

Cool.
Was this "scum sucking liberal" thing kinda like TAF's "Rabbi Kahane, rights for mentally ill, and Pam in Heaven" ???

Ha, or Perry.
If Perry posted more, I think he would irk people as much as he does me....lol.

His constant mix of personal insults and very argumented posts with unacceptable ideology made most people sick. It was hard not to play his game, and not to lose temper. I eventually put him on my "ignore" list, an option I never used, and I think it's the only solution with people like that.
His positive contribution to this forum was the fact that he forced us to a better moderation. I guess he would be banned quite quickly today.

wouldn't the short-lived, but still irritating, manlyhose era be another low-point?

Very true, astra, he is what caused me to become a mod in the first place, because he caused Drew to realize that he wasn't doing all too good a job moderating the forum by himself. And as for whether he would be banned...probably so. I don't like to ban, but I do when a member disrupts the board in an extreme way, and/or seems to have nothing intelligent to contribute. I am leery of banning anyone, even if they fit that criteria, since I believe very strongly in freedom of speech. Hence why AuthenticFan lasted as long as he did.
And silverbullet...yes, I suppose that would be too. ;)

Tentmaker was quite the character, as were many others. Banning works short-term, the best solution though is using the Ignore feature.

Holy post counter jerejere ... you've only been here Aug 2nd and you have nearly 700 posts? At this rate, by the time you're 21, You'll be in the Guinness book of records or drinking Guinness from posting so much.
Go for that record dude -- I always wanted to be able to say I know someone famous.

Yeah, its kind of pathetic really, lol. But I do this thing where I dont stop posting until all the sections on the mainforums says I was the last to post...at that moment, I get a little school work done, and then come back, lol.
Its nice to post that as my 700th post.:D
And Dop, I'll send an autograph when Im inducted.

Guinness, I wouldn't mind a couple of those, a good way to end a hard day of posting. I know very few people who like it. It is an aquired taste. Bottoms up! :drinktoth
Post on Jere, but it sounds like Borg means business!

I drank Guinness when I lived in the UK 007 and you're right -- the first few don't go down as well as the last few LOL
I don't want no steenkin' autograph jere -- I wanna be there when the film rolls as your agent or some other non-rewarding, high-profile, camera hogging position. I'll even carry your briefcase.
Looks like trav may have something to say about the record BTW -- he's up there too.
And now that I know the trick to building up posts is to not have a girlfriend -- I'm writing a Dear Jane letter as we speak. Only kidding -- no girl in her right mind would have anything to do with me.
ROTF.

I have an excuse Borg -- my attitude. LOL
Now, you live in St Pete -- get over to clearwater beach or Indian Rocks or Madiera or st pete ... they used to be the hot spots unless things have changed.

LMAO!
I have a girlfriend, but I post while she is doing her Marching Band practice all that jazz. For some reason though, I was told my posts are pointless, (I beg to differ), so maybe I'll have to slow down....ah nah, I'll keep going.

I seem to remember posting a thread, asking members who they thought was the worst member of allforums. I got many replies relating to people such as tentmaker, manlyhose, ugababe117 (my favorite, and the only one I was around for)...might have been a few others. But anyway...search for it to discover some OTHER low points in the AFN lifetime.

TAF is the only one I ever got to see but he alone was enough to leave a lasting impression on his type.
