Are their like Police and Military on each and every block of the country to guard against the Terrorists?

How do they protect all the citizens.

Imagine what daily life in a major Israeli city must be like. Not just cops, but heavily armed militia everywhere, a daily threat of real-live, in-your-face terrorism - wow - what a nightmare. Will today be the day the Number 18 bus is the target of a homicide bomber? If you live on the wrong side of the tracks, might a rocket blow through your bedroom intended for Uncle Anwar? Will your cousin Abdul (or you) get to wear the belt of martrydom and walk into a grocery store? Conditions such as that have not been seen in this country, not on the level they deal with there. What do you suppose draws people to migrate to Israel, knowing what they're walking into?
If (and that's a real big IF) there was ever an argument for gun control, certainly the entire Mid East is a dreamland target that should bring sexual excitement to the brain of each & every gun control freak world-wide. Just convincing that crowd to give up RPG's & heavy automatic weapons would be a leap equivalent to Armstrong's first steps.

yes, es it must be a nightmare that never ends.
As I have spoke of before, most of us Americans live a sheltered life. We get upset if the stereo next door interfers with our sleep, or if the guy ahead of us cuts us off in traffic. Just think of the places in the world where fear is the main emotion.

Nicely said....

In Kentucky people get mad over everything. Tonight at Subway, I ordered a footlong on two different kinds of bread, and before i got it, she had called the Subway franchise to ask if she was allowed.

I was so embarrased. lol.

having lived in Israel, and hvaing many family and freinds who do today, I will tell you what I can:
Israel seems a lot scarier on the news than it is in real life. yes, soldiers walk the streets with guns, yes there are checkpoints on the highway and bomb shelters on every street corner, every citizen owns a gas mask and school practice bomb drills. it's not a lir that terroirsm is a constant threat, and that the cloud of war hangs over every part of Israeli culture. there's a saying in Israel that nobody in the country is left untouched by the effects of the military on everyday life. but this doesn't mean that the whole country cowers in constant fear. terrifying as it seems, Israel is also an amazing incredible place to be. it's cultrue is communal and nurturing. it's a place where children are thought of not as property of their paarents but as the future of the world, to be cherished and cared for more than anything else. a place where hwne I scraped my kneee in the park strangers would make sure I was ok, a place hwere when my mom lost her sunglasses lense in the pool everyone around her helped her find it. it's place whrre, despite deep cultural divides, everyone helps cope with tragedy. Israelis live normal lives, they don't let themselves be paralyzed by fear. Israel is a country America can learn a lot from.
