i dont think that it would be posible, but if it were it would take hundreds of years.
it would be benificial but every country would have to submit to one govornment, which most people would not apreciate.
(by the way im back from camp)

If you search for that on Google you get lots of information. I think it's SCARY.

I think that the algamation of currency is a definite possibility, but the whole world govt. thing would take a loooong time and a lot of cooperation. I don't see it happening.
Depends on what you consider a one world government.
If you expand this term to include one organization that controls the bulk of the world trade it is quite possible and not that far in the future.

I'll agree with Dan on the trade organization, I mean, look at OPEC. But as for a government like that? Not for a long time, barring any outside threat to the world. People would have to overcome prejudice, religious hate, and sexist thinking. I doubt that that will happen anytime soon. Not to mention that the USA would have to give up some of it's power and all Americans are way too arrogant to do that.

Not really. Communism's goal was an eradication of social classes.

The EU (European Union) is a case in point.
One head, 25 voices each with it's own agenda.
A bureucratic nightmare. It was established to be a Free Trade organization, but like the Monster that Ate Cleveland it just continued to grow.
Until its where it is today trying to impose standards on everything and everone.
Another case in point: the carrot:
an EU carrot is to be straight and linear,
a curved carrot does not live up to EU standards.
True story, absurd but true.

There are many rumors about EU trying to normalize every specific detail of daily life (most often food since it is something which is closely liked to local cultures and lifestyle). This is usually not true.
IMO the EU should be much stronger from a political, military and diplomatic point of view - and much more democratic too.

United Nations is already a form of world government, and it has plenty of room to grow in power. Are the United States one nation, or a conglomerate of states? What about the EU? I think we're evolving toward larger and larger nations. Perhaps we'll regress in some sort of Dark Ages event, but humanity will eventually get there, and rightfully so.

You're right about that, problem is trying to have 25 independent nations give up part of their soverignty to a EU parliament/Commission wracked by one corruption scandal after the other.
Where block politics is the order of the day.
A strong EU would be a decisive counter-weight to the USA in world affairs.
But for now, the prospects are dim.
P:S. The carrot story was true! Check it out!

The parliament is doing a very good job. Its is the only democratic institution, too bad it lacks real power (it will have more with the new reform).
The commission really lacks democratic control. It is influenced by various lobbies, amongst which catholics fundamentalists (the Opus dei) which have nothing to do in a democratic organization !
