Chinese Police Demonstrate Because of Job Loss
On June 29, beginning at 9:00 am, young police officers lined up in formation in front of the Beijing Ministry of Public Security. After two hours of demonstrating, no one from the Ministry of Public Security came out to talk with them.
They wore police uniforms and lined up in four rows. Nine policewomen lined up in front of three rows of policemen. According to some people demonstrating for other issues, these policemen and policewomen had already demonstrated continuously for several days but nobody had paid attention to them. At the location of the appeal, someone from the Beijing Ministry of Public Security was videotaping the scene.
According to reports, these police officers came from a police academy in Hebei province. They demonstrated because the positions at their assigned work units after graduation were sold by the local government officials, which resulted in them losing their jobs.
