Chinese Police Kill Korean Refugee

At a recent press conference, the Dulhania Church of the Association for the Support of Refugees, said that Chinese police had shot and killed Korean refugees. Oddly enough, though, the Dulhania Church emphasized that this incident was not manslaughter.
Another 44 year-old female refugee surnamed Li said that more than 20 Chinese policemen suddenly started firing at the refugees who had already stopped running, and they also shot at pregnant women.
According to North Korea Daily, the largest circulated newspaper in South Korea, on April 14, a Korean refugee Zheng Zexun, 19, was shot dead by Chinese Security Police while running away from Mainland China toward Mongolia with another 23 refugees. Dulhania Church published a statement saying that Zheng¡¯s death was actually accidental, was caused by misfire from the Chinese Security Police and was by no means manslaughter.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry of South Korea said the Chinese government had notified South Korea that refugees had attempted to steal weapons and in the process of resisting arrest, a 20-year-old refugee suffered gunshot wounds and later died after failing to respond to medical treatment.
In a public statement on the same day, Zheng Zexun¡¯s father Mr. Zheng said that the refugees had certainly not fought with China¡¯s police and also had not put up any resistance. They were escaping to Mongolia. Chinese Security Police opened fire from behind them. Zheng Zexun, suddenly fell to the ground after running five meters, and his waist and forehead were all covered in blood. There were altogether more than 200 gunshots. The policemen also used their bayonets to stab the refugees. Another report said that 330 gunshots were fired.
