View Full Version : Why No Support For Third Parties?

Why is there no support for third parties? All the taxes go towards the Democratic and Republican conventions. The Constitution Party convention, which is held in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, as well as other third party conventions have to pay for their own. I think no taxes should go to the conventions. Let each party, major or not, pay for their own. Its fair to everyone.

Another question. Why arent third party candidates allowed to be in a presidential debate? I dont think it is fair at all that third party candidates arent allowed to be at the debates. That is one major deal where presidential candidates in the democratic and republican parties get to voice their opinions and I think third party candidates have the same right as the major party candidates.

Third party candidates try their best to get votes, just like everyone else. They have platforms, just like everyone else.

Why most people vote Republican or Democrat, that is what I dont understand... If you feel like you want to vote for a 3rd party candidate, do so! If you like the platform of a 3rd party candidate, vote for them!!

Well, this is the longest post I have made on this forum lol. Ill just click submit and see what everyone else's ideas are on this subject.

I do not have extensive information on this topic, but it sounds fair enough....but it really wouldnt end up making much difference. The Republicans (ESPECIALLY the republicans) and The Democrats have enough money to cover their tab.

Perot was at the debates in 92 and 96. I do believe you have a point. Everyone that is running should be allowed to speak their mind....however I think they should have a certain amount of support, you can't have somone who represents 0.90% of the vote wasting everyones time.

I think the reason that most people vote Republican or Democrat, especially in the Presidential election, is atleast right now, they dont have any chance of winning, so they almost feel like for their vote to count, they have to vote Democrat or Republican.

I think that third parties definitely are needed in American politics today. The "ranking" system of voting would help achieve that goal...but really, American politics is a horrible mess these days. Third parties should definitely get a fairer shake.

Third parties don't work in America because we have a winner take all system. Whoever gets the majority in area X wins. If you come in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, you get nothing. This kills third parties because most people realize that when you vote for a 3rd party candidate, you simply end up throwing the election to someone that they REALLY don't want to see win.
