anyone who thinks there is not a powerful gay lobby aving thier way with american society listen to this:

first of all, gays are a mere 5% of the population, yet, we hear of the constantly in magazines, movies, TV. I believe there are more gay characters on sitcomes then blacks, mexicans and asians combined.

Why is it that SF issuing gay marriage liscences was front page news for weeks, yet when those liscences were revoked by a majority supreme court ruling (supreme sourt of CA) there was a blurb.

why when the state of missouri overwhelmingly approves a constitutional ammendment bannign gay marriage by over 70% it is also a blurb?

how come the living constituition doesn tapply to an ammendment banning gay marriage? any othe change its a living constitution thing, a natural proccess, but if someone suggests a new ammendment they dont agree with they are trying todestroy the constitution? WTF?

I think it is a combination of having a very strong lobby like you said and that the majority of people in Californis just don't give a damn about who sleeps with who and whether gay people get married.

You are right about their lobbying power.

I think you're mistaken.

Why is it that SF issuing gay marriage liscences was front page news for weeks, yet when those liscences were revoked by a majority supreme court ruling (supreme sourt of CA) there was a blurb.

I don't know Trav, do you think it's part of the "gay agenda"?

how come the living constituition doesn tapply to an ammendment banning gay marriage? any othe change its a living constitution thing, a natural proccess, but if someone suggests a new ammendment they dont agree with they are trying todestroy the constitution? WTF?

How come you make a statement about "destroying the constitution", that nobody on this board said, and then ask them to defend it?

Trav, I'm sorry it bothers you that gays are politically organized...all I can say is...deal with it.

I'm wondering if you can explain your opening comment:

anyone who thinks there is not a powerful gay lobby aving thier way with american society listen to this

How is the powerful gay lobby "having their way" with american society?

I understand you think gayness is overly represented in the media, but how do you think this is being arranged?

If the gay lobby is as powerful as you propose, why isn't gay marriage legal?

Why aren't there more openly gay politicians?

It's getting there....if things don't change, there will be more Gay Marriage, and more New Jersey Governors coming out.

I fear soon politians will make Washington DC into Hollywood, were homosexuality will slowly mode into acceptable among the ranks.

The gay lobby is about to get even larger.

When the draft kicks in April 2005, watch how many gays step out of the closet and announce themselves. Once they are comfortable being publically gay, they will next join in the gay lobby, swelling membership by 2 or 3 fold.

Yes I know some will claim to be gay just to beat the draft but that will be a small number.

How is it good Borg???

I am not saying we would die if we had more Gay leaders, but it wouldnt be good for our country.

I am not going to turn this into a religious debate and mess up the flow of the thread, so I am going to stop here...

Why stop? Is your only reasoning as to why it's bad religious?

Why would it not be good for our country? The vast majority of our issues in America have been because of our Heterosexual leaders, if you really want to get dumb and stupid about this. Gay or Straight leaders, who cares? Everyone has the same capability of getting good or bad things done in this country. Sexuality has no affect on how intelligent you are, or how qualified you our for a position.

I agree with you that it doesnt change their qualifications....

It wouldnt be good for our country, atleast today, because of the animosity it would create. There would most likely be riots and everything....being as though say someone got elected, and then said they were Gay. (Which I Predict Bush Would Do, If He Got Reelected, lol jk)

It's distressing when anyone tries to boost themselves through revealing their homosexuality. Is society supposed to be impressed?

If true I guess you'd have to ask yourself who would be doing the rioting...

The very large percent of people who not agree with Homosexuality I would imagine Pagan.

I am sure there would very outspoken people against it, and there would be people that took it even further.

i myself believe in jesus christ and his word. but people often ask me why i dont find anything wrong with gays getting married. well, god gave us free will, and an order not to judge, so i excercise it and give everyone else that right. but i think that a lot of our most powerful are lying to the public..(i think some of the most powerful men in this country are gay ). i remember the quickly open and shut scandal in the white house with the pageboys, i look at geffen of geffen records and movies.....gay, i live in buffalo, bruce smith, the best defensive player in football period......gay, i believe that ricky williams' dilema is because he's gay. we have this problem with black men who call themselves the "downlow brothers". a bunch of so called str8 men who are married, but often screw other men, but say that they are not homosexual, but are giving black women aids in record numbers. i dont know what to make of it, i just love thy neighbor like the bible says and let god worry about what i consider his business..........oh, im very str8

first of all, gays are a mere 5% of the population, yet, we hear of the constantly in magazines, movies, TV. I believe there are more gay characters on sitcomes then blacks, mexicans and asians combined.

Name a gay movie please, or a gay character in a movie since you think they "constantly" appear. The second half of your statement is so factually wrong I can't believe it needs to be explained to you. There is an entire network aimed at blacks, there are shows where most of the cast is made up of black people. Name ALL the gay characters you know of (or if you don't know the names, just tell me what show they are on). I'm positive its less than 5% of all the characters on TV.

Why is it that SF issuing gay marriage liscences was front page news for weeks, yet when those liscences were revoked by a majority supreme court ruling (supreme sourt of CA) there was a blurb.

The supreme court ruling was in the news for a couple days. But even so, the issuing of the licenses was a bigger story because there was more to report on...there were people lined up at the for days to get married, while the supreme ruling was just a ruling...not as much to cover. The entire issue of gay marriage get coverage because people feel strongly about it. Right-wing radio show talk about it all the time too, does that mean they are part of the gay agenda because they mention it.

how come the living constituition doesn tapply to an ammendment banning gay marriage? any othe change its a living constitution thing, a natural proccess, but if someone suggests a new ammendment they dont agree with they are trying todestroy the constitution? WTF?

Just because we believe its a "living constitution" does not mean we agree with all proposed changes. The real hypocrisy comes from those who think the constitution is NOT a living document but now they want to make an amendment. To "amend" means "to change", so if you don't think the constitution should ever be changed, how do you support this or any other amendment? Please explain.

Maybe 5% openly gay but I would AT LEAST double or triple that number to get a decent estimate.

People are finally starting to not be afraid about coming out. I would say among young people, at least 1 out of 5 or 6 would consider themself gay or bisexual.

Wow, that is just an amazingly brilliant response to the many points that were brought up (end saracasm).

Did you come back with this response because you could not come up with any good answers to any of my points? Was the concept of naming some of the "many" gay characters too challenging for you?

What are you stupid or something? Nevermind, consider that a retorical question because I wouldn't want you to have to actually answer a direct question.

By the way, the answer to your question is "something".

Trav, I'm sure you have not replied to the challenge to back up your original claim that "there are more gay characters in sitcoms than blacks, mexicans, and asians combined" because there are just TOO many to name. Lets see, looking at sitcoms only and only on the main networks ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, WB, UPN that would give us about 630 sitcom characters in a week on these six channels (assuming 3 sitcoms per channel each day of the week with 5 characters on each show). So, 5% of that would be 32 gay characters....can you come close to telling me 32 gay characters on sitcoms on these 6 networks?

And to reach your claim that there are more than blacks, mexicans, and asians combined you would have to name about 90 gay characters on these shows. Can you?

And by the way, why are you of all people comparing sexuality with race?

The only ones I can think of are on Will and Grace....

The only black ones I can think of are My Wife and Kids and the Bernie Mack show.

Latin.....uh George Lopez if he is from there, Idk.
