Since the last thread about Madonna got taken over by the ridiculous fight about the word gay…I decided to create another one, that is to specifically talk about her.

I really respect what she has done with music. Madonna always reinvents herself in every album. Although she changes, she still manages to pull out at least a few hits in every CD she creates. She talks a lot about our society, and drew a lot of issues to the mainstream. Such as when she had homosexuals kissing in her video Justify My Love. Or when she had a black Jesus, and burning crosses in Like A Prayer. Madonna has pressed society in every way, and has been influential in the musical culture we live in today. Any other thoughts...?

Well, I basically said this in the last thread, but unlike other artists, where they really seem to be making choices based on their artistic preferences, I still feel that everything Madonna does is strictly based on making money and has very little to do with developing as an artist.

I understand what you are saying, but she has to survive. In order to do so, she has to change and adapt to our culture we have today. Let’s not forget though, that she has revolutionized a lot of how our culture is today. But it is her job as an artist to make money any was possible. Which is why every artist since day one, does what they think will gain them fame, success, and money. So I think artists change all throughout their careers, which is why Madonna is no different in that respect. Every artist changes, and adapts to make money, for it’s their job. And she is still producing hit after hit, success after success. She is truly a wonderful artist. Cheers!
