For those of you who seen my beautiful and HUGELY PICTURED head on my sig pic tonight....I had to take it off, because the powers that be feared, it may soon take over the forum.
Anyhow,
Being the computer expert I am....I have no idea how to make the pic smaller...
So the first person that tells me how, will win a Jolly Rancher....how's that sound ;)

Open it up in ms paint and click up on the thingy that says "image" and click on "stretch/skew" and then put however big you want it to be (e.g. 50%) in the vertical and horizontal thingies under stretch... Ok, if you understood that, go for it! Maybe someone else is better at explaining things? Of course, that's only if you're on a pc.

Here's a tip for when you want to reduce the file size of a pic but leave it the same physical size and quality. This is handy for getting your web graphics to load fast and to get the size down to load pics on sites like this forum where there is a file size limit.
Open it in a good graphics software -- I use 'The Gimp' which is open source developed originally for Linux but there are now ports to win and other os's.
Once open ...
File > Save As
Give it a name
Click on 'save by extension' and choose 'JPG' or 'PNG'
Use the following settings
====================
Quality = 0.75
Smoothing = 0.00
Check the Optimize box
SubSampling = choose 2x2,1x1,1x1
DCT (speed/quality) = choose 'Integer'
Ok the form and it will save the pic with at least a 65% reduction in file size -- I've had some results of 90% reduction.
There will be no noticible lose of quality and no loss of physical size.

OK, heres the problem.
I am trying to put the pic in my sig....so I cant like upload it from paint, or anything, I have to copy the file from the internet and put Img coding on it, and then put it in the sig.
Is there anyway to make a pic off the internet smaller when you put it on your sig?

You can use the width and height attributes to size any image ...
an example would be ...
width="160" height="100"
google 'html img tag' and there are several sites that show examples of usage.

But HTML is not allowed in your signature. Only vB code.

www.photobucket.com go to that site, make an account. Then you can upload your pictures on that site. Once you do, copy the IMG code it gives you and put it as your signature. If you want to resize it, you can on that site, and click edit…and it should be self-explanatory.
There is a program called VuePrint that I have been using for years that allows one to easily view pictures, change their stored format (from say BMP to JPG), resize pictures, crop, make other corrections and of course print. If you change format, the original stays on your disk until you delete it, and the new format is place on your diskunder the new extension if you save it. You can find it at :

Over the years there have been numerous updates, which I have downloaded and used under the license that I obtained when I first purchased VuePrint. A license costs about $30. You can obtain a copy to try. If you like it, you then can get a license by paying for your copy.
My present VuePrint is Vuepro80, which has all the prior updates and is most current.
Trav used that same picture for a long time.
