the word of God or simply a book of parables and mythology written by men for men???

I believe it's written by men for men, intended for making the society at the time and place of writing more stable, effective, stronger, when a significant number of its people follow and practice it. It also serves the double purpose of providing answers to philosophical questions that humans are historically known to confront and ponder.

I see the bible as similar to Confucious' "Luong Yuu"--anthology of his famous teachings--written by wise/smart person/people with benign intention. But not words of god--it depends on faith. I am confused when certain Christians tell athiests there are concrete "proofs" that the bible is words of god. I thought it's completely faith dependent.

Man-kind would have no need for Gods, if we would take the time to harness the abilities within each of us.

Lest we forger that in the earliest days of the church government and church were on and the same.

The bible was written by men guided by the holy spirit of God. It was written to show us God's love, Christ's love, our love back, and how and why we should live according to God's law and will.
