There is no justification for humans mistreating living beings to the point of causing pain and misery. Saying that it happens in nature is not really a justification. However eating meat is perfectly natural and even necessary as it is the diet we have evolved and adapted to.

im not saying we shouldnt eat meat, there are humane farms out there.the animals have nerve endings and even call out in pain as they are tortured.its just unnecessary.in nature, wen a lion is hungry,it will catch its prey and sink its teeth into the prey causing a fairly quick and almost painless death.humans do the total, uncivilized, opposite.and thats not the way it should happen in my opinion.

Excellent post.

You've done a good job of highlighting many people's cruel and thoughtless attitudes toward the abuse of animals raised for meat.

Why, thank you.

This is a subject I feel strongly about and reading the inane prattle that was taking place was more than I could tolerate, so I had to fire back.

It's good to know there are others around who understand the horrors of factory farms.

You only have to see one once to realise how cruel it is.
Although there are many bigger concerns in this world, that is no excuse to ignore stuff like this.

He said that his wife cooked them food which they ate there at lunch to keep from closing the store down to go eat.

He said that construction workers, working close to them, started coming in hunting something to eat for lunch. He only had drinks, crackers, sardines, potted meat, etc.
The workers would smell his chicken brought in for him and his wife and asked for him to start bringing extra for them. Which he did. Soon he said word got out about his fried chicken and he was selling far more chicken than gasoline.
He told me that eventually a man approached him about selling franchises on the chicken. He said this was how his money was made. Said he had to wait until he was an old man to make any money.

He was very pleasant, enjoyable, and had a great sense of humor. I remember well the old man in a white suite and hat carrying a cane. Sitting there, 40 years ago, fasinating a young fellow that was hanging on his every word.
Very cool story Dan!

Yes, but every chicken has a right-wing and a left-wing, so at least he's being moderate about it. ;)
O M G that was really witty.
