The "New World Translation" by the Watchtower Society
Jehovah's Witnesses,
In my Opinion, their NWT is THE WORST Bible Translation of all time, they Mutilate the Bible countless times, in Both Old and New Testaments to support their False Doctrines, and to Deny the
Trinity and the Deity of Christ, every SINGLE verse has been altered to support their false doctrines,
Not only that, but their NWT is a BORING and DULL Translation, in places where it hasn't been deliberately altered to support their FALSE beliefs, the overall text of the whole NWT is
Boring and difficult to read,
It is a JOYLESS Bible Translation.
It is TERRIBLE
No offense to anyone who is a JW.
See the JW section on
Bible.Ca, for more on how the Watchtower has altered the Bible.

*chuckles* Point me to a version of the Bible that has NOT been twisted to support someone's viewpoint!
This is no better or worse than any other version.
And people say the Bible has been unchanged since the creation. *snirk*

Show me any religious book that is not just another HUMANS version of how things are or should be.

I think the greek version of the Bible is the most untouched by greedy religious leaders' meddling... Also, the verses, when translated into English, are so much more profound and beautiful than in the "standard" King James Bible. Although I don't have a religious belief system which resembles any organized religion, I am a casual scholar of the Bible and I find it very interesting.

DF96;
You still have to admit any book is just a persons opinion of what they believe to be true. If someone walked up to you today and said I just talked to God and he wants me to write a book. You'ld probably laugh and say have a good day. Well the guy writes the book and puts it in a box somewhere and forgets about it. 1000 years go by and someone finds the book, because it was written so well and told many stories, etc.. they start believeing it. Bang, new religion just started, whether it's true or not no one really knows.

I didn't say it was true. Personally, I don't think it is, but there's no way to prove either way so why argue about it?

Argument can be a bad thing, but open discussion of different ideas may lead to understanding. Communication is rarely a bad thing, but the lack of it is the cause of most of the ills affecting society.

The Watchtower Society's Version of the Bible along with such articles as "The Book of Mormom" from of course the Morman church break the last rule of the bible. ON the very last page it tells us, not to take away nor add to the sacred pages...
Now what the Watchtower and Mormans (to just name 2) have done here is basically reworded and even added and taken away to and from the bible in order for it to match their false teachings.
This is quite different from other newer translations, in that the words are just toned down into more era appropriate uses...the th's that are found"eth" throughout the bible are there because it was written in that period of Englands history...in these new translations like NKJV and New Living (which I use for study) the exact verses are just brought into our language and therefore easier to understand.
But no, adding and taking away is defantly wrong. Its a false too for false teaching.

No matter what the version, it is still probubly the worst historical fiction ever written. The plot flip flops worse than a politician, the characters have little personality, the dialog sucks and the point keeps changeing. Add to that the fact that it is long and written in uncommon english and it is right up there with bad foriegn films and jr high school plays for entertainment value.
The bush crime family wants to re-write the constitution, so what's so bad about re-writing the bible?

My grandpa used to tell me before he died, "Son, whenever the bible doesnt seem to make sense...just read on. It'll all make sense in the end."
