When Europeans first started settling North America there was no United States of America. There-fore no Americans. Yet, the people settling here sought freedom from their mother countries.
Sometimes people are so fed up with the conditions they disagree with in their home countries that they break away and try to start anew, with new chances of a better future. Sometimes they expend all and there is no going back.
This I think is the basic make-up of Palestine. Sure some may be there seeking a home base to strike against that which they dislike, as with any new younger settlement. This could have been the case in the initial settlement of what is now the United States.
