“I won’t fail this time.”

How many times have you uttered those words, only to later find yourself going back to the old ways? Remember the last time? Maybe not too long ago, huh? Do you know why you went back?

I was just thinking about that the other day. I set out to do some research on the subject and found three main reasons why as much as 97% of the people will never reach their goals in life. Only 3% of all people who want to succeed actually do. Please allow me to share with you what I discovered.

1. A JOURNEY OF 1000 MILES DIDN’T START WITH THE FIRST STEP

No, it didn’t. With what, then? A Journey of 1000 miles started with the people deciding exactly where they wanted to go. That’s it. If this decision had not been made first, why in the world make such a long trip?

Are you with me on this? The number 1 reason why many fail is having no clear goals in life. No destination whatsoever.

There you have it, in a nutshell.

You have to know where you want to go, what you want to become, what you want to have or possess. Many people don’t ever get control over their time – let alone their lives – because they have never stopped to think what they want to get from life. They don’t have clear objectives. They are the reactive ones, not proactive like they should be.

Enough about them. How about you? What are your goals in life? What would you like to accomplish? What would you like to become? What would you like to have? Where would you like to go?

Say it! And say it out loud.

When you say your goals with a loud voice, something wonderful happens: You will start moving toward your goals, but your goals will undoubtedly start moving toward you. You and your goals become magnetized.

Your first step, therefore, is to set worthwhile and attainable goals. Your goals need to be realistic, and must take into consideration all the necessary things to do in order to make your goals become a reality.

So, where are your goals? What are they? STOP! If you don’t have them yet, do not proceed. Rather, ponder them first. Get a piece of paper and on top write, “These are my goals”. Purpose to write as many goals as you can possibly come up with.

Another thing while you write is, do not judge your goals. Don’t you ever say, “Oh come on, that’s too silly”, or “I could never accomplish this”, or “This is stupid”. Don’t do that! You’re killing yourself if you act that way. Instead, write whatever you desire to do, to get, to become. Anything. Write what places you want to visit. Write which profession you would like to be in. Write down where you’d like to live. Write down everything and do not judge your goals.

Do that right now and then return to the next section.

Does it sound ridiculous?
How do you think NASA put men into space?
Do you think your goals are too silly?
Not until you firmly believe in them...

You're right, fred_recinos. I agree with you.
