Induction kick-starts your body into lipolysis/ketosis, switching your metabolism to one that primarily burns fat for energy.

The name Induction signifies that its purpose is to induce weight loss by changing your body's chemistry so that you will achieve lipolysis and the secondary process of ketosis. Induction is designed to do all of the following for you:

Efficiently switch your body from a carbohydrate-burning metabolism to a primarily fat-burning (your fat!) metabolism.
Stabilize your blood sugar and abruptly halt a myriad of symptoms indicative of unstable blood sugar, such as fatigue, mood swings, brain fog and an inability to function at your best.
Curb your cravings by stabilizing your blood sugar.
Break addictions to foods such as sugar, wheat or corn derivatives, alcohol, caffeine, grain or any other food. For people addicted to sugary, high-carb or high-glycemic foods—just as for alcoholics—moderation simply does not work.
Let you experience firsthand the metabolic advantage.
Demonstrate how much body fat you can burn, while eating liberally, even luxuriously, off the fat of the land.

The Induction phase is not going to be your lifelong way of eating. It will last a minimum of 14 days, after which you should see significant results. Later you will learn a series of steps that will enable you to craft your own personalized eating plan. This plan will be geared to create the best possible balance between your metabolic responses, your tastes and lifestyle and your total health profile.

I just joined this week. Anyone on a diet right now? I'm looking for some good 'eatable' low-carb recipes.

I don't know, no expert, but I'd suggest you don't do atkins until there's concrete evidence it isn't bad for you...just my humble 2-cents!

I lost about 40 lbs in two months. It works just try it. And remember, being fat is also bad for your health.

I think low carb diets are retarded. You do realize that you cannot keep this diet up forever, your body can't handle it. So basically why doesn't everyone just try to eat healthier overall instead of always going with the latest craze cause you know as soon as you get off this diet, you will gain every bit of that weight back unless you get on another fad diet asap.

Yup. The only true, proven way to lose weight is to eat right and exercise.

Atkins himself died of a heart attack. I think that right there epitomizes what is wrong with his diet...too much fat is not good. Moderation is the key.

I also agree... however. I am on the Atkins diet and I exercise regularly, well I stretch and do Cardio. However the atkins is a good start but you need to make eating right a lifestyle. I buy Non fat this non fat that, and low carb this and low carb that and diet this and diet that. When before I would never had even thought about buying fat free sour cream. As for the Atkins... yes it is ridiculous Carbs is what the body needs to survive, why would someone want to deprive their body of it's source of fuel... Easy... don't cut out Carbs.. just be mindfull how many you take in I mean In one can of Regular Pepsi there are 41 carbs and 150 calories.. well I drink a 6 pack a day and by switching to diet pepsi which has 0 Carbs and 0 calories, I am already taking a large step to healthier living. ::Grin::

I don't eat low-fat or low-carb anything. It puts too many good stuff off limits. I am blessed with the love to play sports, drink water, sleep enough, and the hate towards fast food. I am able to keep in great shape while not having a care in the world what (or how much) I am eating. I drink less than 32 oz of softdrink a year simply because I don't like them.
