It is funny how most people don't know that fossil fuels are just made up of, well, fossils!
They are just old, old plants decomposed into a highly flamible substance.

I would be surprised if alot of people didnt know this... But of course I was shocked when a reporter went out on the street and asked a large number of adults if they knew what a homosapien was and most thought they were gay or lesbians.....

One redneck said that he would want any homosapiens in his family!! I am sure he got his wish.

You are absolutely right. I remember the first time I had ever heard about this was on a cartoon show named "Tenesee Tuxedo" back in the mid 70's. Later on (Much later) I saw this same thing mentioned again on the Discovery Channel. If I remember right, coal is also originated from ancient decomposed plants dating back to the Dinosaur era. :alien:

It has always struck me as rather a strange idea that all fossil fuel is from dinosaurs. One recent theory by Thomas Gold supports an alternative idea:

"Hydrocarbons have been in existence since the earliest times of the universe, and are part of the process of planetary formation. Their constituents, hydrogen and carbon, originated in the "primordial soup" from which Earth was formed. Earth's methane and petroleum, Gold says, are abiogenic - without biological origin."

Er... Coming froma site that advocates the idea that "chernobyl was not a nuclear tragedy" and that "no scientific evidences links HIV to aids", this does not look very convincing.

BTW oil and coal are not supposed to be made of "dead dinosaurs", rather on vegetal remains.
