Just wondering who may know for sure ? I don't know the three I picked were the richest I'm just guessing.

it is actually george washington. he owned half of virginia, in his time he was richer than anyone, and easily the richest president of all, thanks to martha of course. So kerry wasnt our first gold digger i guess. (I apologize to george washington for mentioning him and kerry in the same sentance in any context)

According to Forbes, if elected John Kerry would become the 3rd richest president following George Washington and John F Kennedy. Currently in 3rd is Andrew Jackson.

JFK was only rich because his father had a lot of money - in terms of actual cash he had himself - he had npthing much, apart from what his father transfered into his bank account. JFK never held an actual non political job in his life apart from being hired as a newspaper correspndant after the war for a few months. He wrote a couple of books that sold fairly well.

LBJ had a fortune of approx 15 million when he died.

My guess would Bush Sr would be by far the richest of the 3 listed above
