I do not think it might give direct results, but you are using your muscles again and they require your body to use resources. So that helps .. Maybe not to loose weight, but definitly not to gain any. And it does help your 'basic' condition to improve, which will help your personal emotions to be more positive and that also helps with eating more right and more regular with bigger times in between. Eventually you are able and willing to push your walks to bigger miles and push your eating habbits down by just three regular meals a day and a treat in the weekend or whatever.
I have been doing the walking for a while now and I have not gained weight, nor have I lost any, but that is because I am doing to many other things that require me to build more strength then burn muscle.
If you are walking now, and even if you do not notice a difference, keep doing it. Your body does need it and it will help you, every little step helps. No matter how.
