Okay, I am going to try and attach a pic of myself and my cousin's daughter, Bianca...and her daughter Lauren (lauren is lying down in the small crib...they are playing "put the baby to sleep")

If when you see this post there is no picture attached, its bc it was too big that I removed it! :-)

Hi Kids:

Just a quick good morning!!!

DEMI, the collage is sooo terrific, you clever girl! Can you add me to the buddy list for journal keeping? I tried to e-mail you, but for some reason, it was really slow and wouldn't send, so that's why I'm asking you here! THANKS!

Molly, you are a stunning bride - such a cutie - Dana and Amy you and your hubbies are very nice looking as well-I was so glad to finally see your pretty faces, Cara, okay, you remind me of Natalie Wood - she was sooo beautiful, Patti, love the family picture-very good looking family....we are a STUNNING bunch if I do say so myself! LOL!

Kimmy, keep trying to send that gorgeous picture of yourself so we can add it to the collage
Well, I'm off to Home Depot to do some damage - my poor husband is cringing! Okay, I'm adding an updated picture of Lyss and Maxine Louise at Christmas time - hopefully this one's a normal size! xoxoxoxmaria

Happy Friday everyone!!! TGIF!!!

I absolutely love everyone's pictures!!!

Patti - What a lovely looking family...I agree with the rest, you're Ryan is a cutie...don't let him date until he's thirty. (that's what I tell my Max)

Dana - Love your cruise picture, I have one of Bill and I on "formal" night also....it was one of my favorite evenings on the ship.. they should put your pciture in the next brouchure.

Molly - You skinny thing you!! Love the "candid" shot!! You made a beautiful bride...you're husband is very lucky!!

Maria - Love the picture of Lyss, I too anxously await a full custume Fiddler picture.. How are rehearsals going??? When is the show?? I also agree that journaling is a dieter's best friend.

Demi - Absolutely loved your picture album, I wouldn't know how to even start that. I'll email you later in the day for the Buddy system. How's the BFL program going??

Dana - Hang in there....remember work is a four-letter word!!!

Kathryn - Do you live in NY???
Hi to everyone else...I'm going to post on the ediets thread next.

Patti - I took the picture - I held the camera as far away as I could and snapped. That's why I looked like an ego-maniac nut-case at work!! We have all these windows and there are tons of browsers. and I'm taking picture after picture hoping to get a good one without my head cut-off. I felt silly but thought "oh what the .... "

Patti I'm in Charlotte, NC - Where are you?

Dana you are a doll!

My co-worker likes to read over my shoulder (drives me crazy) but she saw all of our pictures and said "who are these beautiful girls?" - I said "My Friends!". I didn't say anything about ediets, she would think we are all crazy for wanting to lose weight. Maybe we should call the new thread (if we get one) - The Maintenance Crew! ha ha

Demi, thanks for the info on Uzebekistan, I forwarded it to my sis-in-law to forward to my future brother-in-law.

Kari, When I have a second I'm going to email you my food journal. I've been good so far today (It's only 10:20 so that's a pretty funny comment!)

Cara
PS: I could be Catherine Zeta-Jones kid sister except I think I'm 7 years older than her!!

Maria-what a great pic of Lyss. They sure grow up fast, huh?

Amy-as for BFL well......this whole packing up, then not leaving phase has gotten me a bit behind, I am determined to get back on track tonight, though, now that I know you are asking!! Thanks!! I've been blowing it with binging, and not working out as much, Ithink this place is just getting me down. but....will get back on it. Thanks for asking.

I have the following so far for Buddies. They will be from Saturday, 29 June, to Friday. 5 July. We will all switch buddies starting the 6th of July, if that is ok. I will send a private message to each buddy, who doesn't already have the other's email address. Or....you can just click below one of their posts here, to send a pm. (private message) How convenient, huh? I really like this site....

starting 29 June:

Cara and Kari
Molly and Kim
Kathryn and Dana
Maria and Amy

someone else PLEASE sign up, so I can get a buddy, too!! (Or else you might ALL have to hear my woes!!) LOL

I have saved the new pics, and will make another collage when I get some more. I thought maybe one of US, one of our fams, and one of our pets?? This is FUN!!!

Never done that before but it shouldn't be so difficult! I'd love to do you buddy system but I think I was too late! Dana, you look awesome in your picture and your hubby - what a cutie!

Molly - Love the wedding picture. You are enjoying yourself and that's what counts!

Demi - So cool with the pictures. I was cracking up when I saw my "Allie Girl" named "Academy Dog". She's sure is a show off! I don't think anyone is bored with the pictures. They are so much fun and sure has given this group some new energy! Please add me to the next buddy list for the next time around. I should be back home from vacation on July 6th. Sorry to hear you are feeling down in the dumps! I hope you get to go home real soon.

Kim - I live in Cumming, GA. It's about 50 miles north of Atlanta! Yes we seem to have a lot of southern on the thread. Do you think it could be the good ole southern cooking??? My family picture was also huge when I first posted it. What I did was save it to my desktop and then opened one of my picture editing programs that I have. I changed the height and width of the picture. You might want to give it a try! Took me about three try's before I got it right. I see you got a picture posted! You guys are so cute!

Maria - your dog looks alittle like Allie. What kind of dog is she? Nice picture of Lyss. How's the rehearsals going?

Cara - I'm laughing just picturing you at work trying to take your picture. Hey you did a good job! I still think you could be Catherine Zeta's sister!

Melisa - please scan some pictures. I'd love to see more of your family.

Tom - lets see that picture!!!

Thanks for all the compliments on my family picture. Yes I agree that Ryan is a cutie! He's also a good kid. I am very blessed.

I'm at work but when I get home, I'll find another picture to show you all!

Good Morning All:

If you are so inclined, visit the Department of Defense web page below and sign a brief message thanking the men and women of the U.S. military services for defending our freedom. The compiled list of names will be sent out to our soldiers at the end of the month. So far, there are only about 131,000 names.

Hey I know there have been some comment about how often you are notified that someone has posted on the thread, but I have been getting notifications each time someone new posts ( 3,4 5 times a day) It seems everytime I turn around to get work done, there is another popup telling me someone has responded on the thread, great isnt it? But tough on getting work done (am I supposed to get anything done?):)
Well I will really try to log on at home, but my computer is really slow but i know i have to keep in touch with my journal buddy.

GREAT family pix Demi - gorgeous family, yes indeed, and Stacey, thanks for the link - I sent my thanks to Demi and the rest of the troops. Still looking for a nice family shot - it's been a while, but I think I may have one...I'll keep checking.

Good evening, all. Well, I not only didn't get the job, I didn't even get a flippin' interview! I am so bummed. I wouldn't trade my "mom" years for anything, but it sure makes the resume have a big hole in it. I am just bummed, bummed, bummed. My daughter is working at the front desk at a Country Inn and Suites this summer. I told her maybe I'd take her job when she was done with it, and I'll be done with my summer job. The general manager is 25-years-old and the assistant manager is 19. Great. Grandma-on-duty can fold the guest sheets when they come out of the dryer. Brother.

What I'd like to do is market my quilting skills to the right people. I am really good, and would like to make one-of-a-kind quilts for specific people, who can afford to pay me what these quilts are worth. Mine are my own designs, and usually involve a lot of hand work at the level of fine art. They would make great gifts from American companies to their foreign interests, for instance. Or, a great group gift for a specific and special occasion. I have made several of this ilk, so I have a track record. Sigh.

Tom, good pic. Yeah, you look like you "sound".

I'm going to bed early tonight, since I have the chance. I hope to check in again soon!

Love,
Kari

Maria,
I have no idea who the baby is, my SIL sent it to me, bc we know a lot of people who work at Michelin, in AL. cutie, though, isn't he??

Still need more people to sign up for buddies, so I can get the final list down. I'll tell you, knowing I have a buddy now sure helped at breakfast, I avoided the potatoes on the plate altogether, and walked right on by the milk. (They ACTUALLY had white milk and real Wonder Bread today, and I breezed on by both of them, didn't want Stacey to have to see my weakness!!)

Hope we all do well this week, although I have blown my first week of UC, just means I have to try harder the next 2 weeks, huh? My CDR and I both slept right through our run, today!! MUST run this afternoon!!! Maybe I'll zip to the gym around 1000 to do the stepper. Maybe not *zip* as we walk everywhere, but it can only help, right??

Later!!

I wanted to share this with all you beautiful people:
MEASURE OF LIFE

1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctor worry about them. That is why you pay him/her.

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down. If you really need a grouch, there are probably a few dozen of your relatives to do the job.

3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Just never let the brain idle.

4. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath. Laugh so much that you can be tracked in the store by your distinctive laughter.

5. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person who is with us our entire life, is ourselves.

6. Surround yourself with what you love, whether it is family, pets,
keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

7. Cherish your health. If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable,
improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

8. Don't take guilt trips. Go to the mall, the next county, a foreign
country, but not guilt.

9. Tell the people you love, that you love them, at every opportunity.

Remember, Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away!!! (I really liked this part!!)

Have a great one, folks!! The final buddy list gets *published* in 90 minutes....down to the crunch, folks. but don't worry, if you miss it, we can always add on. :-P

Hope everyone has a great weekend. I will be working on my Due Dilligence that has to be done by Monday. Got one package out Friday and will do the other package this weekend. Boy it is nothing but fun at my work!

Here is a picture of my daughter at Halloween! She was Brittney Spears (my husband was not too happy about that, but she said if she couldn't be Brittney she would be a Teletubbie. Yeah, great an 8 yrd old teletubbie. Needless to say she won that battle:D )

Hi everyone!!! Happy Saturday! Yes, it's a beautiful day here and yes, I'm inside. I decided not to work today but need to "find" that thing they call a desk in my home office. Which currently looks like a storage room!!!

Demi - I love the pictures and your sit up graphic. thank you for putting together the buddy list. I will contact Maria today in some way, shape and form so I too can report my list of sins. Only Kidding. I've been good so far. Tomorrow is my BFL "free" day so I will spare her the goorey details.

Dana - I agree with Cara, your daughter looks 'exactly" like you!! Maybe she and my son can get together when they're 30. Wait a minute, I think that he may be waiting for Melisa's dau (we'll have to see) ;)

Kari - I'm so sorry that you didn't get the job. I know how you feel. A "headhunter" called me several months ago about a job I really wanted (CFO for a high end landscaping co on the east end of LI) and I never got a call back. I'm not even sure if they interviewed anyone bc they were going to fire the current person and maybe got cold feet. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. I know I asked you if you quilt for others??? I do belong to a quilting group that very often "send out" their quilts. Email me if I can be of any help!!!

Tom - love the picture, you don't look like the madman the cops thought you were earlier this year at the park. ;)

Kathryn - Your job sounds very interesting, we have done work for the NYCDPR and other agencies. I'd definitely love to get together for lunch sometime (I'll have to wait for a day that I'll actually be in the city)

Hi to everyone else...I'm procrastinating (I am the Queen of that)and DS has to go to a party in less than 2 hours!!!

Good heavens, Dana, your darling daughter is your clone - what a sweetheart - sheesh, with my Alyssa, not only do people tell me she doesn't look like me, but they tell me she looks like my sister's kids! Now where is the justice in that?

Kari, that really sucks about the job. But I think you're on the right track about the quilting. When you have a talent like that, the sky's the limit...I hope something good comes of it.

Demi, thanks for all your thoughtful insights and posts. I enjoy reading them.

Amy, I'm here for confessing!!! As long as you let me confess to you!!!!! ATE A BAG OF HERSHEY KISSES LAST NIGHT, but, the buddy thing started today, so it doesn't count!

I better go. Mark's brother, wife and kids are coming here after spending the day in Kittery, ME. Ever been, anyone? Love the outlet shops - Crate and Barrel, GAP, Banana Republic, et al....I think we're going out to dinner after that, which means, GASP, LIQUOR!!!!!! UGGGGGHHHHHH!!! Can we start this on Monday? Dana-your daughter is cute!! So, does your dh have a shotgun ready?? something tells me he's gonna need it whenthe boys come knockin!! ha ha

Amy-you did well by carrying a cooler bag, and resisting the stuff at the party. I think a little alcohol would be a nice splurge. Like yesterday-'we had chicken for lunch, but I really wanted the 3 muskateers, so I rationalized that by eating only the wing, and giving the breast away, I could have (and did) the candy bar. It had to be better on the calories and fat anyway, than a piece of fried chicken, huh? It figures the closer we get to leaving here, the better the food gets. (excpet for b'fst this am, which I wont even GO there!!!-worm in orange and all. now, that's a way to not eat!!)

Maria-a bag of kisses? Does that cancel out myhalf package of ELFudge double fudge cookies the other day?? Hey, chocolate comes from beans, so it it a "vegetable", MUST be good for you, in SOME Way??

well, academy, all for now. I am almost done with the second collage, will try to post it later today. Molly,
beautiful area you live in!!
How far are you from San Luis Obispo? My daughter and son in law live in Jolon, which is near there. Donald is in the Army as well, and stationed near Fort Hunter Ligget. You might be further up north than that, though. It takes them about 3 hours to get to LA.

I am ALL for counting wine like grapes, I, too love wine!! We got spoiled on it when we lived in Germany, since we were there 3 times!! (total of over 11 years for me.) I even had a full blown wine tasting party for my birthday one year. What a blast!!

hope everyone's weekend is going well. I personally like Mondays, because it gets a little lonely here on the weekends, there isn't too much posting going on.

Molly, can I come and live with you??? I love wine also, we have a nice selection of wineries on the North Fork of LI but not as many as you do out on the West coast. BH and I were going to come out and play on the West coast in the fall but due to time issues decided on Salem, Mass for Halloween Happenings instead. Oh well, better luck next year.

Demi - I too want to count wine as fruit and chocolate as veggies!!!

Alright, hi everyone else. I have to go....pack the car, 'cause DS and I are hitting the beach as soon as I'm done working out.

I lived there for four years through college, but grew up here in Sonoma County (where the picture is from) and it's very similar, but a little more populated up here. I never thought I'd end up moving back to this county, but I appreciate it so much more as an adult.

Amy - we MUST find a way to wine taste in our respective regions! How was the beach? It's supposed to be 90 here, I wish I had a pool! Unfortunately the beaches in this area (about 45 minutes from my house) are usually cold, windy and foggy

Maria - how was your dinner out? I had a glass of wine at three different places yesterday, so I hope you at least sinned with me!

Computer Guy - Are we crazy or what???

Tom - glad you're still around, haven't heard from you in awhile!

Cara - Do you work at the gallery on the weekends?

Everyone, enjoy your last day before another Monday! At least we have a holiday this week!!

YoooHoooo! Anybody home?? I have had a fun weekend, so I'm ready to go back to work on Monday refreshed.

It probably won't sound that way to you, but I really did have fun. After I got off work at 2:00 yesterday, I went quilt fabric shopping with one of my friends. It was a road trip, so that made it even more fun. I got home in time to go to church, so I had today free! I cleaned house! Now, that my sound yucky most of the time, but I haven't been home long enough to clean it for a couple of weeks, so I love that it looks so nice around here now!

I was going to invite some friends over for the grilled chicken sandwiches (eDiets), but my husband came down with a fever this afternoon! It is really hot here, and was 77F at 6:00 this morning when I was running. He went out for a bike ride at 9:00, and thought he just felt wobbly after that. I took his temp after lunch, and it was about 101, 2 hours AFTER he'd taken ibuprofen. So, he's in bed and I'm getting a handle on the laundry. I can go to bed early tonight

Okay, I'm pathetic. I just re-read this thing. That is FUN? LOL I guess it's all in one's perspective. I gotta go e-mail Cara with the good news that I didn't blow it all to hell at dinner last night! So proud of myself!

Love to you all!

I can't believe this thread has been viewed 1066 times as of this moment. Crazy!!!!

Cara - I meant to mention before, that picture is not a view from my house (I wish), but it is from a winery a few miles away. It's a typical view of the outlying areas here.

Kari - I also forgot to tell you that I'm sorry you didn't get the job. They must not deserve you!! If only you can find a way to sell your beautiful quilts online or something? hmmm. . .

I see it's hot just about everywhere in the country right now. We're checking in at 97 in Windsor, CA. Hope everyone else is staying cool!!!

Molly, I'm so jealous of the area you live in! You know how small and crowded Hong Kong is? Accia and Sheri came here before. They know!

Well hello everyone, welcome to Monday! Quite frankly the weekend was terrible. I had to work all weekend and then my boss called last night and my trip to Germany is off. I am very bummed! Not a good week at all :(

Kari - I am sorry about your job opportunity. Better things will be coming your way!

Molly - Gorgeous view. I am so envious. Atlanta just looks like tons of roads that intertwine! Not as beautiful as your area. How lucky you are to just pop down the way and see this!

Melisa - Aren't kids great. Fighting is the major communication between siblings. It's amazing we survive our childhood when we fight so much with our brothers and sisters.

Demi - Did your weekend go quick? Any news on when you get to go back home? Our friend just got back last week so he is kicking back now. Hopefully your turn is next.

Sorry I could not get everyone this time. I have to get ready for the big meeting today regarding our sale of the business.

Take care everyone.

Good morning everyone!!!

Quick post!! I have to take DS with me to work, but lucky enough I have to run "office errands" along the way. I'll post more from work. Kimmy - one word- "awesome"!!!!!!!!!!

Beach was awesome!! 82 degress and perfect! Enjoyed the time with DS and parents and youngest sister.

I was a very bad girl yesterday....ok I way good until about 3pm (M & M cookies....need I say more). But, yesterday was "free" day and today, I've rededicated myself. I'm afraid to weight so I'll do it tomorrow morning. I hope that't okay.

Gotta go.

Hi Everyone...I finally made it here. I changed to wanna wear6...hope you don't mind. Busy busy day here today. So just wanted to check in quick. Sorry about Germany Dana...hope the meeting goes OK today. Kari, sorry about the job. They don't know what they passed up!. Hope your hubby is feeling better. Kim - you look great...I bet CB was fighting off those other guys in the picture with a stick! Amy - glad the beach was fun. I'm jealous. That's a big disadvantage to landlocked Atlanta. The beach is five hous away! Tom- great picture. I need to post some too. I'm going by memory, hello also to Cara, Melisa, Patti, Demi- hope you get to go home real soon! If I forgot...so sorry. I'll write more later.

I wish we could do sound effects on here, if I could I make a cat call whistle to Kim for her sexy photo. What a dress!

Well I'm home today, I have mondays off since I work Saturdays. Taking my little boy shopping to the hardware store. And my hubby needs his computer so I've got to run.

Proud to report the scale has slid down to 126, I'm glad to be getting farther away from the 130 range.

Enjoy your days everyone!!!

Just a quick note this Monday morning!! Don't forget to post your stats for the week on the challenge thread! I will post the standings on here & at ediets. Everyone on the scale this morning!!

Kari - have you thought about selling on ebay? It's great national exposure... :what: never know what you might start :D

Kimmy/Halle - why would CB be upset over the pic? It's a great shot, and everyone looks good

Melisa/Christy - hope your "anniversary" celebration is great! We are also celebrating State-side this week on Thursday, July 4th. Most offices shut down, only the retailers work on the holiday!! ;) I need to get some fireworks for the kids :( , do you do something similar?

check in with you later!

Stacey: The reason why CB would kill me if we put the picture up on the collage is bc he is not in the picture! It is BEFORE we started dating...so I know I wouldn't be happy to see him in a picture with tons of women....i know he would feel the same way! :) But I thought you guys would get a kick out of seeing it...i like it bc there are a million cute guys and me and one other girl. Thanks you guys for all of your compliments!! :D

Kari: I agree with everyone, you should definitely try to sell your quilts. I know it sucks to not get the job you wanted, but it may be a blessing. Especially since you love to make quilts and if you can find a way to make money doing that, you will be much happier. Most of us have a hard time figuring out what we love to do, since you know, you should try to find a way to make $$ doing it. I'm sure if we all put our heads together we can figure out something. Ebay sounds like something to check out.....Hmmm....lets put our thinking caps on! Definitely if we know someone that wants a quilt made, we will forward them to you!

I had a pretty good weekend, we went to see Minority Report...which was good, we both enjoyed it. It was about 15 min too long, but i would definitely recommend seeing it! Good summer blockbuster movie. I went to a cook out on Saturday and did okay but the one I went to on Sunday I ate more food that i have in a long time! So, we'll see if that affects my weigh in on Wed...even tho I am maintaining, i still weigh in each week....so hopefully it won't affect me.....But no biggie, i am back to my ediets meals today.

Tom: Good to talk to you today! Good luck with law school. While it isn't the most fun (according to all my lawyer friends) I'm sure you will do really well and learn a lot!

April: Glad you found us! Size 6 is great!!!

Cara: Thanks for the compliment on the dress! Its one of my favorites! Also it looks like I won't be in Charlotte for my bday, but i am going to try to come the weekend of the 20th. Will you be around? I am gonna get my highlights that weekend! We should definitely do lunch or something!

Hello to everyone else! You guys have a great Monday! :-) Remember it is a short week!

Hahahahaha! Stacey, you naughty thing! Kimmy, I agree about the dress and the picture. You're sweet to think of CB's feelings. I am married to someone with the same sweet sensitivities, and I try to remember how he feels, too.

Thanks for the encouragement for selling quilts. However, I don't make "random" quilts for sale. My specialty is making specific quilts for specific people. So, I sell my quilting services -- design, layout, stitching, etc. The results are one-of-a-kind, not production-type quilts. I had a really good commission last winter where I designed a quilt using the clothing of a young man who had died in a motorcycle accident. The family also sent some novelty fabrics that depicted his life. I designed lots of applique that further depicted his life (i.e. a computer with Elvis on the screen, a dandelion, a wishing well). It turned out to be a quilted biography of the guy's life. The woman who hired me was in Maryland. The quilt was for her sister in San Diego, who was engaged to the guy who died. I'd like to find more of these, and just need to know how to find accounts. I'd be great at making quilts for coporate clients who want to give something "American" to overseas business ties. Any ideas?

Lunch time. I'm gonna grab a great salad and eat outside. More later!

Love,
Kari

Stacey/Julia: That picture is HILARIOUS!!! Okay, now i'm being nosy....who is the guy? An ex or something?? Ignore me if you don't want to go into it. I understand!! =p

Kari/Bette: I completely understand that you only make quilts for geared towards individuals, and that you don't just have bunches sitting around to sell. I was just thinking that you could sell the service on Ebay (i'm not sure how Ebay works...it might not work) or somewhere else...and show an example of the ones that you have made for people in the past. I mean, if I know someone is looking for a gift and is thinking of a quilt, i would totally refer them to you, you could call them and find out what they want, tell them what you would charge and make it. There has to be a way to sell it, we just have to think about it for a minute to try to help! Anyone else with ideas??? I know it would be an AMAZING gift! How about for a wedding present? Maybe I could have one made for CB?? That would be cool! (would guys like them) I know my sister and mother would LOVE it! How much does it normally cost to have them made? (you can email me if you want! :)

Amy: Glad you had a great time at the beach! It sounds wonderful! Don't worry about the food, you will get back on track this week!

Dana: Sorry about Germany! We were SO looking forward to hearing about your trip. Don't worry, i'm sure you will get to go someday!

HI! Just a quick funny story for everyone.

Today my husband took me and our little boy out to lunch.

I knew I should be good and order the grilled chicken salad with dressing on the side, but the BAD side of the menu kept whispering "cara, cara, you know you really want the fried chicken tenders with french fries". FRIED CHICKEN TENDERS WITH FRENCH FRIES! WE ALL KNOW WHAT THAT WILL DO TO A DIET! So I kept trying to look at the salad side but compared to FRIED CHICKEN TENDERS WITH FRENCH FRIES all the salads seemed lame.

So I compromised I got the FRIED CHICKEN TENDERS over a salad and thought well at least I'm by-passing the FRENCH FRIES. So I explained to the waiter that I wanted the FRIED CHICKEN TENDERS cesaer salad. But asked him to put the cesaer salad dressing on the side (because we all know how fattening that stuff is!) at the last second I switched my dressing to something more low-fat. Well I guess that confused the waiter because when my lunch came....

I had a GRILLED CHICKEN OVER PLAIN GREENS WITH THE LOW-FAT DRESSING ON THE SIDE.! ! !

I guess fate took over and kept my diet on track.

By the way, it was delicious and I didn't miss the fried stuff anyway. (ok, I did sneak a few of my husband's fries - shush, it's our secret!!)

Thanks for reading my saga.

Hi all!!

UGHHHH!!! Long day. My DS is a saint. He ran work errands with me all morning and then got stuck with me in the office for the afternoon. I hope that my sister will entertain him for an hour later so I can work off the M & M cookies I ate yesterday. I ate them all until they were gone....now I can't be bad. :)

One could only hope that it was that easy. I've been a model edieter and BFLer today.

Cara - It's funny how fate works it's way into our lives, even with the "small" stuff.

Demi - I like the latest picture gallery.

Kari - Touch base with me via email if you want me to see if I can "advertise" for you. Will you quilt other people's quilts???

Stacey - love the picture...what's the story???

Dana - Sorry to hear about Germany....

Opps gotta go....need to find something else to entertain DS.....and I haven't posted on ediets in ages so I should hop over there before the end of the day.

What do you guys think???

Hey Jimmy - I think starting a fitness area is a great idea. Thanks for letting me know the other threads don't bit :D I was kind of scared!!! Thank you for thinking of us with the fitness idea!

Cara - love that story! It's funny because after the fact, you're probably GLAD that you didn't eat the fried tenders, but at the time you knew they would've been so good. Bad waiter ends up being on your side!

Dana - very sorry to hear about Germany, what a bummer! I hope things look up soon.

Amy - you're like me, I tend to eat ALL of a bad thing so that there is nothing left to be bad with the next day. I guess it just ends up doing the same thing to the body, eh?

Kim - i'm going to email you my food for the day right after this, I have been excellent through breakfast and lunch. Night is the hard time! We're also out of fruit so I need to shop. The fruit lately seems not to be fresh or juicy and it's really annoying!

April - glad you found us over here!

I'm outta here everyone. I start teaching summer session Tap classes tonight. I'm only teaching 2 classes just through July. I'm looking forward to meeting some new kids, I'll hopefully have some good stories by tomorrow!

Here's my kitty again, he likes to help me finish my yogurt, but gets so into it, he can't get his head out!!!

OK BFLers- week 6 starts today- I cheated AGAIN this weekend and regained the pound I lost.

So no jobs for me in NYC yet?

I kind of played around on this site(checked out a few other threads) and have come to the conclusion that we are probably the oldest folk out here- I'll be 34 in September (the 26th- please send gifts through my agent)- But that makes me verrry old compared to many!:=)

hi, all.

Tom-you mentioned you are 34, and old?? Well, I turn 39 next week!! (the 12th) talk about old!!

my son turns 4 today, and we had agreed to NOT tell him till I get home, I am sure I have tld you all the reasons why. welllll.... my dh is officially on my black list. He told my son it is his birthday in "one day" (this was yesterday) so....when I spoke to my son, he said, "my b'day is in one more day, mommy, and we're gonna have a BIG party, and you're coming home and your're gonna be there, and we're gonna have FUN!!" I told him when I left, that I would be home for his birthday, (as he was wailing at the airfield, watching me leave with all my gear on.....) and we'd have a BIG party. I figured he is only turning 4, what is the harm in delaying his big day for a few weeks, if it meant his mommy kept a promise.? I am SO mad at my hubby, I could just SCREAm. He says it wasn't "FAIR" to not tell him it is his birthday. I am wondering, ok, little Joe doesn't even know what a CALENDAR IS,Now all he knows is his mommy can't keep a promise. So where is the fair in all THIS???? aarrrggghhhh!!!

ok, gonna go sulk again, now. (besides, I need to weigh in) Does being p-o'd burn calories??? If so, I'm SURE to be down about 5 lbs!!

Hi everyone,
Hey listen Thom, you are only as old as you feel ;)

I turned 47 yesterday. I went and had a manicure and pedicure and they have those chairs that massage you as you sit. It felt great :D My Best friend and I were born one day apart, and we had planned to go together, but she had an emergency at home so I went alone. My sons were both oblivious as to what day it was. Today we plan to go to Lincoln Center MId-summer swing and listen to a Salsa (Latin ) Band to celebrate our birthdays. WE went to one on Saturday night and it was really great, being outdoors and listening and dancing to the music all for free!. :dancer:

Demi the pictures were great again, hope you are okay in Kandahar, I heard the news this morning about the bombing.
We are just praying that you come home soon to be with your family. Too bad your dh didn't wait for you to come to tell your son about his birthday, I would be  too .

Well considering it was my birthday, I think I did pretty good with the meal plan. I didnt cook but I ate some leftovers that I made last week, and I didnt have a cake so I ate a lowfat yogurt ice cream sandwich!:)

Well let me start this day as I know I will be very busy, so if I dont check in again today, I will talk with you all tomorrow,

Amy, I'm very sorry to hear about your Amanda. My cat ... left me in 1995 after joining our family in 1974. She's a great cat that we all loved. I still miss her today.

Demi, I know how you feel. I agree with you. Your presence on your boy's b/d would have been very important to him and that you're expected to have kept your promise. Strange, guys think differently.

Oh I love your collages! They are cool!

Molly, okay, I'll check the new fitness thread. But I don't understand why we need another one... mostly for others????

Cara, oh, your story cracked me up! Let me tell you something.... I had Kentuchy yesterday lunch ..... no french fries, but fried chicken and tea with milk and sugar. I really love Kentuchy, LOL!

Stacey, sorry, I mixed you and Kimmy up about our anniversary here. Yes, we had fireworks last night. ... only 5 years after the turnover. We did have fireworks every Chinese New Year. The fireworks cost HK$3 million last night and I wondered if it's worth spending the money at this difficult time ... (poor economy I mean). Hey, thank you so much for giving us the stats. on our UC! I think we should all have more 'yes' for our meals, right, folks?

Tommy, you know my age... so it proves we're the oldest here! LOL So the young people should be jealous of us!

What a great group we're!

Kari, I won't say anything more about selling your quilts. But I agree with our team that it would be nice to make money from our interest/hobby. Hehe, I failed in negotiating with two clubhouses on giving a talk on keeping fit and healthy. I'm thinking if I can become a personal tutor ... on the same thing! I am quite 'inspirational', am I? LOL

Have a great day, everyone!

Love,

Melisa

p.s. I must sleep soon because I miss my early morning workout and I feel tired. Oh, I worked out for 1 hour 10 mins. after work and spent most of the time on weight-training. The last time I did it was last Thurs. if I remember correctly. I can sweat a lot dancing, doing Taebo, etc. at home.

Quickly - the story behind the photo with the guy sticking out his tongue... 'twas the night before Thanksgiving, and all through the bar not a turkey was baking... :D

A couple years ago, a group from work went to the bar at the end of the day before Thanksgiving. The guy is an accountant, and we had a bit of a flirtation going (I was "7 year itch"ing) ;)

Nothing happened, but one of the IS guys brought the new digital camera to the bar that night and caught this "great" pic. Needless to say, DH knows nothing about it.

It was cute thing with a dove sitting on top of the flagpole chirping and singing to another dove in a tree "raise the flag, raise the flag" and then a beautiful black Lab pulls the cord on the flagpole, and the flag raises and billows in the air and it plays God Bless America. U.S. Soldiers Fired Upon in Kanadahar
Tue Jul 2, 1:59 PM ET

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A group of U.S. soldiers visiting a hospital in Kandahar came under small arms fire while returning to their base near the southern Afghan city on Tuesday and one was slightly injured, a Pentagon ( news - web sites) spokesman said.

The soldiers had gone to the hospital to check on about 10 civilians who were apparently injured in a possible friendly fire incident earlier this week.

"Initial reports are that we did not return fire," said Navy Lt. Cmdr. Jeff Davis, a Pentagon spokesman

Hi. Just a quick note. This computer is really slow, but I need to get going to be with my dad.

My mother died unexpectedly from complications duirng a simple surgery she had on Monday. I was able to get here before she passed away, which happened at 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2. We are in shock, and the grieving my dad is going through is considerable.

I need to go now. It will be harder for me to check in on this thread because of the slow computer. I can check in on eDiets easier, so if some of you over there could keep the ones here posted, I'd appreciate it.

I got some very loving emails from some of you already. I put them in my "Family" folder of my e-mails. Thank you so much for all your love and support. It touches me and helps more than you'll know.

Love,
Kari

I see that this thread was moved over into the "fitness" folder with our other thread. Which one do we want to use? This one is getting kind of long...

Kari - We are here when you need us. We can wait until Monday to hear from you since you are out of town.

How does everyone like the buddy system? I think it helps alot to be accountable to someone. :what: Hope everyone doing the challenge got my post this morning!

Have a Wonderful Wednesday! :D

Stacey

BTW - does anyone know how to "logout" of this website? I've just been changing the page, but I know that is not the most secure method. Thanks!!

Hi all,

You can click on the (logout) beside your name, I think it only appears when you start to post a reply. Try that, that should work. I am sure the option to logout is also elsewhere, but I havne't been looking for it. You are right, though, we should really log out, to keep it secure.

enjoy your day, everyone. I'm off to finish my book. (last chapter of A painted House, by John Girsham-awesome, by the way.)

only problem-the heat here melted the GLUE that holds the pages together, so they fall out in chunks, almost as quickly as I can read them. At least they haven't fallen out BEFORE I read them, that would be a nightmare!!

I've even had a chance to tan here , albeight in shorts and tshirt cuz of all the guys, but tanning, nonetheless!! so....am trying to make the best of it.

PRAYER REQUEST for our armed forces in the Middle East........

We forget that they are really fighting a war as we go on with our daily
lives..... Have a great week, this 4th of July............be proud to be
an American............... This was
received from a friend in Pennsylvania this
morning. Please help pass this along. At 10 am this morning I received a
prayer
request from Cathy Mitchell, who attends Spring Hills church.
Her husband, Tony, is an Air Force Commander in Afghanistan.
She received an urgent email from him this morning. It said,
"We need Christians to pray, pray, pray. We're in a Blood Bath here!"
Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Pass this on to as many as you think will respond.
PRAYER WHEEL:
Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for
the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in
the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior, Amen.

When you receive this, please stop for a
moment and say a prayer for our ground troops in Afghanistan.
There is nothing attached....
This can be very powerful.... Just send this to all the people in your
address book. Do not stop the wheel, please.... Of all the gifts you could
give a U.S. soldier, prayer is the very best one....
P.S. The Afghans need prayers too!.

I know you all are praying and thinking of all of us here, I am more fortunate than most, given my job, but I wanted to thank you for the support, anyways.

Love,
DEMI

Are we posting on both threads? I just posted on the fitness one, I think - Is this the weight one??? SO confused.

Hey, Kim, how come on my computer I couldn't see the picture of you and the cute guys? Wahhhh. I saw the other one of your sister and mom - very pretty....

Oh well, I really have to get ready for this party - it's getting quite cloudy out there, tho.

Ok, I'm in the Army, and used to changes. LOTS of them, so this is an easy fix. change 1 to buddy list which will now start MONDAY instead of today, bc lots of folks are kinda quiet on the weekends (that's ok, though, this is a holiday, after all)

revised list is:
Amy and Cara
Dana and Demi
Kara and Kathryn
KIM and MOLLY
MARIA and STACEY
Patty and Tom

CHANGES ARE IN CAPS.

If anyone else wants to stay with the same buddy longer, just let me know, a week does seem to FLY by, so I think we all understand.

Have a great rest of the weekend, and remember, the new buddies will start MONDAY, NOT TODAY.

It's been fun catching up with all the posts on Ediets and this thread! I'll go find the fitness thread once I'm finished here.

Dana - your daughter is adorable. She looks just like you!

Cara - I loved your chicken salad story. Funny how it worked out that you got the healthly salad!

Amy - so sorry about Amanda the cat.

Melisa - I love your photos. Your kids are so cute!

April - wannawear6 - now that's cool!

Kari - Again, I'm so sorry about your mom. Once you are back home, I'm going to email you about your quilts. I might be interested in one.

Tom - Glad to be your buddy for the week. I guess we offically start on Monday which is great for me! I need to recoup from all this vacation eating!

Kathryn- [size=24:822d65f77d]HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!![/size:822d65f77d]

Hey Jimmy,

I posted that a few weeks back, when I went into the "fitness" area of the forum, our thread wasn't there. Then the next day it was back again. So . . . you can ignore my question!!!

Thanks!!

Here I am, overweight (but not that much) and still trying to keep it that way! (and to reduce the overweight ofcourse).

I started jogging months ago and it helps, I do not gain, and step by step I am losing weight. As soon as I have a healthy condition, I can start a bit more serious diet (instead of stopping to eat candy)

Feeling better today already!
So I am going to get up, take a hot shower and hav a nice long walk, then take a shower again, rest in bed and do the same tonight again.
Tomorrow I will jog instead of walk.

I weighted myself yesterday and I wasn't as heavy as expected, so it is going ok so far. At least I didn't gain.

Maybe you people can tell me. Does walking a mile everyday help you lose weight? I started in Sept. I know I'm stronger but I don't think I'm thinner. I think its healthy even if I'm not loosing. I stopped smoking almost 2 years ago the the pounds have been gradual. I don't mind some weight but I'm trying to keep a close eye. I feel so much better since I stopped smoking.:)
