It was once mentioned to me that if one were to read the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelations, upon completion there is a Moral to the entire book. If this is true, does anyone here know what it is?

"Be good."

Too bad no one pays attention to the moral.

The main story that runs through the bible is that morality is a force of life. But also the Bible doesnt stay with this line and preaches slaughter of your enemies. But when it was written the morality of the time was to smite evil and be rewarded.
In my opinion the Bible which is a reference book, is a collection of stories designed to uplift and to teach morality. I believe in God but am not aligned with any formal religion. As a matter of fact I usually argue with those that are about this very topic. Why is it that the keeper of God, the Vatican says what we can and can not see? If we are to make a learned choice then dont we need to see all that was written or uncovered?

The moral is that it is impossible for us to be good.

God requires us to be perfectly good to avoid His punishment, however we cannot do that, so we are doomed to this punishment.

Thankfully, God has provided a means for us to avoid this punishment, become His adopted children, and be welcomed into His family.

This is through the sacrifice made through His son Jesus Christ. We must hang our whole lives and future on Him to be saved from God's wrath.

Basically, that is the moral of the Bible.

I would say that there is no one moral to the Bible. I would say, rather, that there are many morals given by many different people - Jesus, Moses, Paul, etcetera.

Though I suspect the most important moral in the entire bible would be Jesus' ever-present admonition to love thy fellow man.

The Bible is a collection of many texts from many origins, which have been first told then written during several centuries. And then adapted, translated and altered. It often contradicts itself and this very complexity makes it fascinating and a source for personal meditation rather than for one simple moral.

The vindication of God's sovereignty is what the Bible is written about if you look deep.

be good and be faithful or god shall smite thee.
