This kidnapping stuff has got to go. First there was that girl who was swiped out of her home while her parents were flying on marijuanna, then there was another girl swiped on her way to school who is still missing after 7 weeks, and now this Elizabeth Smart girl. The streets are totally corrupt. It is a shame that in this great nation we are not even safe in our own homes. Folks, that is SAD. What are we doing wrong?

You know if you dont raise your children right they grow up to be thuggs.All these things that are happening are the results of bad children growing up.Parents should teach their children to respect others and to stay in school and learn something.The parents are the blame.They are doing crazy things smokeing pot and haveing sex with God knows who right in front of the kids.Letting all kinds of trashy people in their homes and these people later come back to harm them.These trashy people have trashy kids and it goes on and on.The only way its going to stop is someone is going to have to take a stand for the right thing. But with people makeing laws so that WRONG is RIGHT & RIGHT is WRONG you are going to have a hard job.I had good parents and sometimes I wanted to do things I knew was wrong.What do you think of a kid who has bad parents?GOD HELP THEM.

You can't place all the blame for such things on the parents. Remember kids spend 7 hours a day at school where parents have no, or very little influence over what happens during this time. Good kids who have been brought up well by their parents, who know right from wrong can still end up with 'the wrong crowd'. Why? Because peer pressure is a very powerful influencer - kids want to 'fit in' and will behave badly to do so even though they know what they are doing is wrong - some come through it and realise their errors, some don't.

Of course there are bad parents who neglect their kids and fail to teach them right from wrong. That is not just a recent phenomenon - it's been happening ever since pro-creation began. Kids nowadays have easy access to far more things that can do themsleves and others harm and therefore the consequences of their actions become far more serious.

On the issue in question - kidnapping - of course it has to stop. Dave Tooner mentions a few recent cases that may suggest such crime is on the increase. Is this the case I wonder?

parenting is getting progressivly worse
most kids these days are being brought up by tv and violent computer games. i am not saying these things should be stopped but used in moderation parents are out workin a 9-5 job and their poor kids are thrown in school where they are fucked(not literally i hope) kids need to play and they need to get dirty the life they are provided with is not that. children are forced to sit in a classroom most of the day and when they get breaks they cannot do anything "dangerous" no climbing trees no running no fucking fun! by trying to keep kids "safe" they are getting screwed

a few years ago i used to ride my bike round town, nobody watching me or anything i'd climb the tallest trees my parent's actually let me do that stuff. most kids these days don't get that
(i am only 17) my dad lived in PNG when he was young. jesus some of the shit they used to get upto lol. swimming with crocs, trecking thru jungle all day shooting birds and shit with homemade bows and assorted other catapults
they had a great childhood
u should let ur kids enjoy it while they can
before they have to go get some boring job so they can put food in their mouths and deal with all the boring adult shit

Most people believe that more children are being kidnapped daily.. which isn't true... the media has just now focused alot more on it than before..
Reasons for the abductions have absolutely nothing to do with the parents. Todays world is slowly getting worse day by day.. no matter how hard we try to perfect our world.. it will not happen.. There will always be serial killers, murders, kidnappings, etc.. to happen.. It's sad that this is what the world has come to.. but I only fear the worst. We need to focus more on the safety of the kids than anything at this point.. They are our future. (Did I just make any sense?)

So you say the parents cant be blamed For their kids actions.Who than is to blame?You say presser from other kids?Well these kids had parents.You say the system.Well the system is made up of kids grown up.You might say it is cause by what they eat and see.Who makes this stuff and who put these things on tv.It is time we take responsibity for our own actions and not try to pass the buck.We all are at fault and unlest we do something about it we are all on our way to a complete down fall.

Parents do no ask for kidnappers, murders, etc.. to come and take their children.. and do this stuff to them.. Don't say it's because the parents didn't raise them right either.. that has NOTHING to do with it.. the kids nor the parents ask for this.. It's the twisted sick minded kidnapper (person) who does this.. some children are targeted some aren't.. It's not like the parents don't try and look for the best for their child.. sometimes looks are decieving.. Even though all procautions are taken sometimes that doesn't matter.. Things happen whether you're in "caution" or not..
How can you even say that it's the parents fault. I blame it on society still.. murders get away DAILY with several sexual offenses.. and just walk away with no charge.. it's bullshit.
As for the parenting getting worse.. I agree.. to an extent.. kids are getting pregnant at such young ages.. those who have kids in their teens I find to be more negelected than the others... The world will progressively get worse.. no matter what we do.. we will never find peace.. there will always be some sort of madness out there.

But yes the kidnappers and murders are the result of bad parenting and something lacking if it be mental or just being a sorry person. Either way,give me power to change the punishment system and we would have capital punishment and the death penalty on TV, we would reopen hangings, electric chairs, gas chambers. New laws would be set, if you could be proven guilty 99% with DNA within 1 week, you will say bye to this world.

The thread was supposed to be primarily about kiddnappings (and child rape -- they seem to go hand in hand), but the parenting is relevant too. Something must be going seriously wrong for people to want to molest kids and then kill them. SICK!
