The U.S. State Department report on human rights has cited concerns about repression of suspected Uighur separatists in China. ...hold people, hooded and chained, in cages two metres square for over two years without charge, and for most of that time without any contact with their family or legal counsel including two Australians, fellow members of The Coalition Of The Conned, and the US State Dept "'cites concerns about repression""...?
If this self-serving bullshit were not so sad, it would be comedy material.
What goes around comes around, and while Australia may be a country of only 20 million, it holds an important place in the South-East Asian region, and has had long-standing trade in military interaction with the US.
This disregard by the US of basic legal process has united Left and Right in Australia in collective revulsion, and while the Australian PM visits Bush tomorrow for yet another round of arse-kissing, it will not be forgotten by Australian electors in a hurry.

Even when faced with another story of abuse you can only condemn the US. Maybe your Australians held in Gitmo where terrorist.
I read just yesterday that soldiers were being accused of making prisoners stand for 50 minutes out of an hour for up to 10 hours! Thats called a job here. I didnt get to sit for 10 minutes an hour in any job I have had except for one and that was driving a truck.
Maybe we can get all of the abuses in perspective. Abu Ghraib was abuse, but this last one isnt even close.

...must be scary..driving a truck chained and with a hood over your head...?
I think the shit has yet to hit the fan on this one, and when it does, it will fly everywhere.
I don't condemn the US for one minute..without the US, I would be typing this in Japanese.
What I condemn is bullshit.and to hold two persons without charge for over two years in conditions in which you would not hold a dog and then trumpert to the world that you are engaged in instilling Democracy is just that.
Check http://www.aldaily.com and read the reports on non-domestic US News sources.

One word for you Woomera.
I posted the article to prove a point. And I think it was proven.
It's ok for anyone else to commit these atrocities but not the US.
Mission Accomplished.
By the way I read news from all different sources, such as Aljazeera and BBC. So I wouldnt say I was being mislead by the US media.
Terrorist took all my dreams and aspirations from me, I have no compassion for anyone who is or support a terrorist. But worse than that, they have taken the lives of tens of thousands of innocent people.

Was I talking about the Abu Ghraib incidents? No , I was talking about the Iraqis who said that they had been forced to stand for 50 minutes an hour for up to 10 hours. That is in no way toture.

Beirut, just because a person complains about abuse perpetrated by Americans more than they complain about abuse perpetrated by others does not mean that they are condoning abuse by those other people.
Personally, I was more appalled by the prisoner abuse scandal because it was unexpected, and because, as an American, I know that if I were to travel abroad, a little bit of that scandal will be sticking to me wherever I go.
Also, I complain about the scandal because I CAN complain about it, and have some hope that my complaints and others, might have a chance to change our governments policies.
If I don't complain about the sufferings of the Uighirs or the Congolese or the North Koreans, it's because I know my complaints will have little or no effect, not because I'm indifferent to their plight.
I feel that if we want to help people in foreign countries, our military shouldn't neccessarily be the intrument of our aid, and abusing some of them is probably not the best way to impress the world with our benevolent intentions.

Vile it is not you or any of us complaining about the problem, it is the US and world media that makes me mad. I am angered by it as well.

They say abusing them only makes them “say what they think you want to hear” so the it’s not reliable.
