How many posts is required?:smash:

We have not set a title system up yet, expect one soon!

I don't know if we will allow users to choose their own status or just used asigned statuses; Custom user titles are nice, but they confuse some people.. Since we are using the color hack it may be alright though....

Taken from personal experience--I know how it works with custom statuses. If you set a limit to where people can obtain a custom status, they will SPAM(meaning Stupid Pointless Annoying Message/s) until they reach the pre-mentioned limit. I know this because at a board I mod, the minimum is 10,000 posts(so far 5 people have reached it) and people keep on spaming to get to it, it doesn't work out right in the end. I'm just forwarning you;)

custom Statuses sound cool.

That is a good point, if we do allow custom titles it wouldn't be that high, just enough to keep people who are only here for 5 minutes to get that status...

yeah, but they've been around since Dec. 2000, so a lot of people are closing in on it(I think it used to be lower than that, but changed because the site was getting older and more people kept spaming for titles...

Well I mean Custom User Titles are really nothing, I have been on dozens of forums, I mean dozens from UBB and when vB was just starting out and people just want to seem important, and a user title just makes them seem important.


I bet I get emails asking can someone be a mod, not only at this forum but all the others....I tell them not at the moment, we are in need, yet they leave, because they just wanted a status of power, and it sickens me

The same with me.I administrate 4 forums and I am always asked for the power.

One thing that also sickens me, is the way I already see ppl abusing the karma hack, and just give people karma for no reason, as in "I will give you karma, if you give me some"

Well Admins give a total of 10 points of karma per click, when a normal person gives only 7. WOW big difference. But I am looking at the logs and its not really bad abuse, but I am going to think of better way it can be used. I really like this hack, and I think we can all use it for the good and the actual fun it was meant to beused for, thats why I put it in the forum :)

Unless you SPAM, 10,000 posts is a really high bar to leap over. I'm here a lot, am an active participant, yet I'm not even close.

People, this post is two years old. Number one, how the hell didi you find it? Secondly, the info is out-of-date. You can do custom titles whenever you want, I think.

click User CP/Edit Profile....then scroll down to "Custom User Text"

I believe this is what you are looking for.

I looked and there is no custom user text button.. I think someone is out to get me...
