I think that it's a disgrace that the U.S. military would be involved in mistreating and harrassing the Iraqi prisoners in the way that they have. I've seen the nude pictures on TV and I think it's sick and perverted of our soldiers. I know that other countries mistreat their prisoners, the U.S.A. is supposed to uphold higher standards than that. More than likely the U.S. military knew what was happening, and decided to overlook the abuses. I also was listening to a man on the News they were asking if Saddam was being cooperative, and if he had been telling them what they wanted. The man said No, but we'll keep on working on Him. He didn't say they were torturing or mistreating Saddam, but I got the impression that they would torture Him if they thought it was necessary. I see that George W Bush went on Arab TV to discuss this situation, all He did was make excuses. I think since Bush makes such a big deal about being commander and chief that he should accept responsibility and apologize to the Arabs. I don't think this abuse of their people will make them hate the U.S.A. any more than they already do. It just seems to validate their view that America is a sick, perverted, immoral country, and in this case rightly so. :o

I agree, the feedback is Arabs were less than impressed with Bush's arrogance and the fact that he did not apologise was highly noticed.
He should have apologised. He is speaking on behalf of the American public and I am sure the general sentiment is that an apology is certainly in order.
Showing some humility would show strength. I'm personally dissapointed that Bush wasted this golden opportunity to speak for America. I got the impression that his interviews were intended for American public consumption and he didn't give a rats ass about how the message would be perceived in the Arab world.
Why is he so incompetant? It's critical for America that this guy is booted from the white house.

If bush even hints at apologizing to the Iraquis, his base will pull the carpet out from underneath him. The 1/3rd of americas voters that are sticking with him through thick and thin have already issued that warning to him. If he apologizes he can start packing for Crawford.
He's painted himself into a corner.

He apologised today. It's a good thing.

That's all bull. He did not apologize to the Iraqui people for the prison abuse and torture. If anyone says he did -- I'm calling them on it. Show me, cause it didn't happen.

Jeez - what more would satisfy you - him personally meeting all 26 million Iraqi's one by one, or riding piggy back on rummy in the streets shouting I'm sorry.
The guy apologised

Nope -- that had to happen after my post. Correct?

On Edit: I'll take the deal where he rides rummy piggy back ...

He apologized to Jordan, why? I have no clue. At least he did it, some of you will say. Well he should say it to the right people, thank you...it dose not count.
New reports show that Colin Powell warned Rumsfield that these documents should be released (Iraq abuse), and that he should take special notice to them. Rumsfield denied it, and ignored these warnings since December. Proving they have more reports, pictures, and incidents that we don't know about. What else is the Bush administration hiding from us?
But good job, I’m glad the Bush administration is so educated, smart, and takes what each other says seriously.

It seems that G W Bush did indirectly say he was sorry for the mistreatment of Iraqi prisoners yeseterday, during a joint news conference with King Abdullah of Jordan. Bush said "He did tell King Abdullah during their discussion together, that He was sorry for the abuse of Iraqi prisoners". Instead of apologizing directly to the Arabs, Bush took the chicken way out. He should still apologize directly to the Arab people, that's the only adequate approach. :o
