According to the Simpsons, the soul is a piece of paper that says "soul" on it.

I have a spin on the soul.....
I kinda look at it as similar to the four elements....
If you took a cup of water from the river you have two separate parts...the water in the cup and the water in the river. Dump it back in and they are one again......same goes for fire.....a campfire and a lit torch....throw the torch into the fire and the flames are indistinguishable from one another becoming one fire......air is the same and so's the earth......scoop soil into your hands....drop it on the ground.......back to one body again........
This is something along the lines of what I believe happens when something or someone dies.......the spirit entity is returned to the source again (the river, the Web, call it what suits you).......which is one
the mysterious source of life.....
I have that same concept creetwins. When someone asks me to describe the Holy Spirit, it has a lot to do with what you just mentioned. The Holy Spirit is God's grace away from being one with him. It runs through us and around us in different elements but with same particles. To take your theory a step further, their is oxygen throughout the water, and maybe some water throughout the soil.. the Holy Spirit is a different element we can't see, but adds to whatever is there. I think our souls are energy created with and by the energy of God, or how you said "the mysterious source of life."

If you have a soul which is seperate from your mind which is seperate from your body then which one are you? Does your personality die with your mind? Does the body die by itself and the mind and soul keep hanging out?
Whatever the answer is I am sure it equals One. The mind is the body is the soul. Also, we are not actually seperated from one another or the One (not Neo).

The soul is who you are, individual. Now if you die, and as some have said, go back into the river are you still an individual or do you become one with everyhting? Even if you do become one with everything do you still get to keep your individualism?

So the question still remains are we all one, or are we separate? The fire can be returned to the fire, but it can't be with the water? So does the human soul go back to a certain place or is it separated out among different things? The human just like the fire needs many things to survive fuel, air etc... So when the human dies does each part go its own way?
The soul is an individual energy particle. You see in color. You are aware. You are somewhat neutral in feelings as we know them.
You are knowledge without desires as we know them.
In this life we have the busy thinking mind, the sub-concious mind, and what we call the soul. Each is linked in a stepdown process.
The soul is a part of what I call the River of Knowledge. Compare the soul in the River of Knowledge to the individual drops of water in a river. Each is individual yet together make up the river.
I try not to say too much each time because these long messages are so hard to read. I attempt to share the knowledge of over half-a-century of learning in hopes some can know the wonderful things I have been fortunate enough to have personally experienced in this life. The mysteries you wonder about are simple yet complex. I hope some will benefit as I have.
Each of you seem to have a basic idea that something exists within you that will continue , thats good.
Maddog you are not as Mad as your name would imply.
