View Full Version : Glamour
Hey you guys,
Listen, my husband and I have a website business and our client said he wanted a "glamorous theme" for his cosmetology school website. Now my husband and I have two different definitions of this, so I thought I would throw it out. How would you define glamour, what colors would you use, what images???
Thanks for the input.

Since I happen to be in an Advanced web design class as well as a future Graphic Design major, I can help out with this.
Glamorous - I would see mostly bright colors used for the website, purples, reds, maybe some creams or some yellows. I would suggest some black or darker colors for contrast, but not many.
As for images, I would use stars, or anything else that usually symbolizes anything fancy or of first class origin. As for designs, I think easy flowing graphics (curves, arcs, etc.) would give the site easy usability without the site being too busy.
I wasn't quite sure on how to explain what I think would be a "glamorous" website, but hopefully this does help you in what you are looking for.
Thanks....it's funny that men seem to go for bright colors with glamour. You are saying the same as my husband. I was thinking more champagne and light pink with gold....or then I thought, totally black and white, like old movies. It is hard to define huh!

it is weird that guys think of bright colors. hmm....your version seems better. when I think gloamour I think pink, black, and white, and satiny gowns with loads of pearls. but that;s juts me. and I have no vclue how that translates into a website.

Generally when people think of glamour, they think of bright sparkly things and bright vivid colors and other shiny objects. brightness get's you production....brightness gets you popularity.......and black, well, where does black get you?? Who likes black anyway (besides goths)??
I do agree that it is tough to define such a vague term as glamour. Some people may see glamour as tight leather pants and a torn T-shirt...but that's them and only them.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask...and good luck on your client's website.
LEATHER PANTS AND A TORN SHIRT!!!??? That's a stretch for me. But I definitely think it's hard to define. I saw an old black and white photo of Marilyn Monroe today coming out of a cafe, and I thought....that's glamour.

It's a stretch for me too, but it's true that there are people out there who do think this way.
If we're talking glamour in ways of people, I don't think it's totally based on what they wear or their appearance. Sometimes it takes brains and talent to be truly glamorous.

isnt "Glamour" the magazine George Costanza was looking at when he got "caught" by his mother, who said he was "treating his body like an amusement park"

I gave you my options and got one of you in your family to agree on it, what more do you want?

I'm more confused on what it is you're looking for. I gave you my opinion on what to do for a glamorous website....then all of a sudden we're agreeing on something and god knows what....:@@:

Well this is what we have to redesign.....so I'm thinking anything we come up with will help this client. And they agree.

Wow, this website needs rehab. I still agree with the options I mentioned earlier...especially with the stars now that I know what it's called.
And please, of all things, replace that top banner advertising the name, that thing made my eyes hurt. Good luck with it.

Why not ask the customer to clarify so you can be sure you give them what they want?
