Surprised no one has mentioned it.

Just got mine in the mail box....it's a time honored tradition of mine to always wait until the last minute. Me and the majority of US citizens.

Anyone still working on them?, tick tock goes the clock.

my local paper listed all the post offices around here that are open late. one or two are open until midnight. some people really procrastinate.

when I was single I would make it apoint to wait until the last day, now my wife makes me go with her and get em done as soon as we get our W-2's. If it wasnt for her I would be the biggest procrastinator on earth.

I had mine done in early February - mostly because I had a refund coming. I would've waiting longer if I owed money.

I will never ever do the whole thing myself. the accountantans of this earth are far smarter than me when it comes to stuff like that. just looking at some of the forms my parents have to fill out makes my head spin. :@@:

I can do my state taxes on a website. Federal taxes can be transmitted over the internet if you have the correct software, but it's not on a website.

What are tax forms like in France? In the U.S. they're absurdly complicated.

I owed, so this year I waited until the very end. Then to our surprise, the nearest P.O. open was nearly an hour's drive, thanks to living in a place where over 4 million other folks also decided to live.

Not to worry Whammy, there are plenty of folks willing to do your taxes for you as long as you share your money with them. You're most likely a very long time from having very complicated numbers to play with, so as TravH mentioned, the EZ form works for a great many people.

Nice.

My dad did it over the internet, and waited until the last minute. I woke up at 11 and he was working on it. My mom was wandering around the house yelling about taxes due by midnight, it took loud music and a closed door to shut her up. "Your father's going to get us arrested for tax evasion!"

I've got more...

"Would you look at those morons... I paid my taxes over a year ago!" --Homer

Kent Brockman: "Tardy tax payers are scrambling to mail their returns by midnight! Sir, why did you wait until the last minute to pay your taxes?"
Otto: "Taxes?! Isn't this the line for Metallica?"

Homer: "Marge! How many kids do we have? Oh, no time to count, I'll just estimate! Uh... nine!"
Marge: "Homer, you know we don't h--"
Homer: "Shut up, shut up! If I don't hear you it's not illegal! OK, I need some deductions, deductions... ah!! Business gifts!" [Homer grabs the boat painting from above the couch and hands it to Marge.] "Here you go, keep using nuclear power!"
Marge: "Homer! I painted that for you!"
Homer: "OK, Marge, if anyone asks, you require twenty four hour nursing care, Lisa's a clergyman, Maggie is seven people, and Bart was wounded in Vietnam!"
Bart: "Cool!"
[Homer shoves in some quick gifts and tapes the envelope up in a ball.]

(at IRS Burger, formerly Krusty Burger)
Homer: Lesse, I'll have four tax burgers, one IRS-wich, withhold the lettuce, four dependent-sized sodas, and a FICA-ccino.
Puberty Boy: Fill out schedule B. You should receive your burgers in six to eight weeks.

Only income taxes can be complicated, it depends on your kind of income. If you're just earning a salary, it is not very difficult. It is possible transmit your income declaration by internet and you get a few days more to do it than by mail - and a 10 euros discount ! More than 1 million people did it this year.

This was the 1st year I did most of my taxes on my own. (no turbo tax this year!) Granted I don't own anything but college debt, but I found the experience to be a lot easier then I thought.

Now I have 355 days til next year's taxes.
