Turnoff tv week 2004

April 19- 25 is the 10th anniversary of this yearly event.

I really don't watch much television anymore, too damn depressing, usually I'm watching dvd's or videos from the library.

Lotta reasons to stop watching tv. Anyone here willing to try just one week?

But honestly, there's all sorts of intelligent programming on TV. PBS, Biography, the History Channel, AMC, TMC, CSPAN, etc. TV's what you make of it.

its been more than a week since i watched any TV. but i will be watching a lot of it when NBA playoffs starts.

I like cspan, but I don't like Comcast, so I don't get any of that stuff.

There is not much on 7 channels.

Are you concerned that tv might be an addiction?

Have you ever tried just one week with no tv? (you can always record what your going to miss). You might be surprised with how you feel.

An addition? Maybe. But by the same standard so is this forum, the newspaper I read every day, and that damn book I can't put down. Besides, I'll just end up spending all of the following week watching everything that I TiVo'd while I wasn't watching TV. :)

I don't know, it can be pretty bad. I don't watch that much, becasue I have better things to do, but it's nice when I'm really bored and out of things to read. my sister wtaches it waayyy too much. when we were in florida last week she brought our portable dvd player down to the pool and sat and watched a movie in the shade instead of swimming or istting in the sun. it's really terible how much tv she watches. I wouldn't do it, cus then I'd miss Queer Eye, and we don't have tivo in my house. otherwise, it wouldn't be such a bug deal. I cna get my news elswhere.

i'll be turning off the tv... but not by choice!!

it's finals week, and ive got tooo much studying to do! :(

I know. I have a World History Ap in a few weeks, and then I have a huge math exam in June, and a bio SATII around the same time. I hate standardized tests soooo much.

I love exams. I love watching my 2.5 cummulative GPA during the six weeks jump to a 3.0. :D. And watch my teachers faces when I was getting an F in the class and an A on the exam. Oh, that was great last year, english, my teacher was so confused. My Chem teacher hated me for it. The little corner of the class that she called the failures, all got As on her exam. Alright, I'm done bragging.

TV sucks ass. What the hell can you people watch?

I tell you what - as stressful as work can be, I don't miss taking tests one tiny little bit. Or homework either.

I thought Queer Eye was scary... Although funny. All the guys who had long hair, they cut it! Nobody touch my bloody hair... Maxwell.. sounds familiar... my mother probably watches it. And it depends on what VH1 is doing, they've done lots of idiotic things. I love the 80s!

After the removal of Underdog, Invader Zim, Dilbert, Gundam, and the degrading of Simpsons I have no reason to watch TV. Except for Fairly Odd Parents...

how long is your hair? I have to say, some guys just don't look good with it, although I think most guys do look good with shaggy hair (not quite ponytail length, but not very short) this is coming from the girl who looks at a guys hair first to see how attractive he is.

Usually in a ponytail. I tend not to have it down because it's sholder length and does the little flippy thingy when it hits the sholder. Currently it's rather weird, the bottom inch or so is really light blonde, and father up it gets a little bit darker, but somehow it blends in rather well...

Two years ago I did.

I had a streak bleached and it took forever to grow it out. eventually I just cut my hair shorter for the last half inch or so cus I got so impatient. and I might have the remnants of grown out highlights somewhere under my black hair dye. should I bleach my tips and dye them electric blue? I'm trying to decide what to do with my hair next.

As long as you don't get a mohawk, I can't stand those things... I think girls with spiked hair is hot. What colour are your eyes? If blue than blue tips would probably look quite good. Purple's a pretty colour... A friend of mine had wonderful red hair(I have a thing for red heads), and it looked really good long, and she cut it. Now I think it looks terrible... Point for that, I don't know.

Me, of all people. A complete fashion disaster. Wearing a cloak in spring in Florida. And that Ren shirt, holy shit... And my holey jacket, finger my shoulder! I frankly like my pants with the glow in the dark stuff I put on it. I need a design though.

I have olive colored skin and brown hair and eyes. but my hair is black now. I was thinking more lectric blue. I think it might clash with my natural coloring, and I should stick to the cool eggplantish color my hair got streaked with accidentally last time I dyed it. I'm liking it a lot, and the sun this usmmer might make it look cool. I'm way too wimpy to have a mohawk, and I'm not at all punk, so it wouldn't work on me anyways. and I can't spike my hair becasue it's almost shoulder length, and I'm probably going to keep it this length so I can tye it up during the summer. I've had my hair red, both auburn and fire engine. I like dying my hair. a lot.

People with darker skin... mine is white beyond white, I glow kind of in bright lights, actually, black lights make my skin glow almost like my socks. And right now BOO! is written on my arm in purple... why? I don't know.
Brown and blue... hmm... I'm lost now. I'm not a fashion person. And now I really need to write an essay, stupid essays, stupid online classes, stupid having to do work...

Well, assuming you have a picture on your hard drive already, use the Attach file box in the Reply page. That's under the reply box, just above the Rate the thread field.

It glows only a little... I'm Irish. And Polish. I'm an Irish Pollock. I'm gaelic and part of the Polish scandinavians. There is no pigment in my skin. I walk in the sun, and it goes "BURN BURN BURN!". Tanning is impossible, the only tan I have is the little bit of brown marker that I got on my skin. Sun is bad...

I've found that, too. People who think they're ugly always turn out to be the exact opposite. Except me. :D (Hooray for low self-esteem!)

I don't think I'm ugly, I actually think I'm pretty, but I never look good in pictures. can't explain it, just not a very photogenic person. the only picutre I can find on my hardrive of myself at the moment is from camp, and it is not pretty, so nobody gets to see it. it has sputnik in it too, and she might also object.
