"It's Been Awhile"
And it's been awhile
Since I could hold my head up high
And it's been awhile
Since I first saw you
And it's been awhile
Since I could stand on my own two feet again
And it's been awhile
Since I could call you
And everything I can't remember
As fucked up as it all may seem
The consequences that I've rendered
I've stretched myself beyond my means
And it's been awhile
Since I can say that I wasn't addicted
And it's been awhile
Since I can say I love myself as well
And it's been awhile
Since I've gone and fucked things up just like I always do
And it's been awhile
But all that shit seems to disappear when I'm with you
And everything I can't remember
As fucked up as it all may seem
The consequences that I've rendered
I've gone and fucked things up again
Why must I feel this way?
Just make this go away
Just one more peaceful day!
And it's been awhile
Since I could look at myself straight
And it's been awhile
Since I said I'm sorry
And it's been awhile
Since I've seen the way the candle lights your face
And it's been awhile
But I can still remember just the way you taste
And everything I can't remember
As fucked up as it all may seem to be I know it's me
I cannot blame this on my father
He did the best he could for me
And it's been awhile
Since I could hold my head up high
And it's been awhile
Since I said I'm sorry

Epiphany - Bad Religion
A new age of reason
Brain treason to trick the mind
What good is searching
if nothing's there to find
We arrive at this place
of no return my brothers
Only to discover that our minds have led us away
so far from the painful truth
of who we are
What's right is wrong
what's come has gone
what's clear and pure is not so sure
It came to me
All promises become a lie
all that's benign corrupts in time
The fallacy
of Epiphany
Come forth bear witness
see the profit from your loss
Beg for forgiveness
only after you tally the cost
We arrive at this place
of no return my sisters
Only to discover that our values ran us aground
on the shoal in the sea of what
we could be
What's right is wrong
what's come has gone
what's clear and pure is not so sure
It came to me
All promises become a lie
all that's benign corrupts in time
The fallacy
of Epiphany
If it's real for me do I have to prove it to you
Why do revelations fade to cold blue untruths
It's oh so relative
Subservient in total to one's perspective
What's right is wrong
what's come has gone
what's clear and pure is not so sure
It came to me
All promises become a lie
all that's benign corrupts in time
The fallacy
of Epiphany

Yesterday's Headlines - Good Riddance
Running short on imagination
Still we waste it all on words
Spoken without the benefit of our minds
The candle burns, the edges framed
Our best intentions waste away
And everybody loves the things we've done and on, and on, and on
Life appears weightless
For everyone but me
This world grows heavier everyday
Deterioration
Growin' old before my time
Nobody cares, never mind
We all prey on a vain condition and the hoplessness of it all
These days there's nothing we can trust
The dreams we made, we've seen them fade
Trampled by our sad parade
Yet we're so pleased with what we've done, and on, and on, and I'm done
Life appears weightless
For everyone but me
This world grows heavier everyday
Deterioration
Growin' old before my time
Nobody cares
The mind breaks down when it dies
Our machine's doubled in size
To orchestrate the grand collapse
I see us all trapped in its path
There was a time we were unbound
As if we'd never hit the ground
But just like rain we can't keep from fallin'

Imagine - John Lennon
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

the Postal Service have some greta lyrics, emoish as they may be
I am thinking it's a sign
that the freckles in our eyes
are mirror images
and when we kiss they're perfectly aligned.
(from Such Great Heights)
We'll Become Sillhouettes
I've got a cupboard with cans of food
Filtered water and pictures of you
and I'm not coming out until this is all over
and I'm looking through the glass
where the light bends at the cracks
And I'm screaming at the top of my lungs
pretending the echoes belong to someone
Someone I used to know
And we become silhouettes when our bodies finally go
I wanted to walk through the empty streets
and feel something constant under my feet
but all the news reports recommended that I stay indoors
because the air outside will make
our cells divide at an alarming rate
until our shells simply cannot hold
all our insides in
and that's when we'll explode
and it won't be a pretty sight
And we'll become silhouettes when our bodies finally go (repeat until fade)

i wouldn't call it my favorite ever but I like this song....
I don't mind stealing bread
From the mouths of decadence
But I can't feed on the powerless
When my cup's already overfilled
But it's on the table
The fire is cooking
And they're farming babies
While the slaves are working
The blood is on the table
And their mouths are choking
But I'm growing hungry

this song always moves me too....
Until the philosophy which hold one race superior
And another
Inferior
Is finally
And permanently
Discredited
And abandoned -
Everywhere is war -
Me say war.
That until there no longer
First class and second class citizens of any nation
Until the colour of a man's skin
Is of no more significance than the colour of his eyes -
Me say war.
That until the basic human rights
Are equally guaranteed to all,
Without regard to race -
Dis a war.
That until that day
The dream of lasting peace,
World citizenship
Rule of international morality
Will remain in but a fleeting illusion to be pursued,
But never attained -
Now everywhere is war - war.

Go 'way from my window,
Leave at your own chosen speed.
I'm not the one you want, babe,
I'm not the one you need.
You say you're lookin' for someone
Never weak but always strong,
To protect you an' defend you
Whether you are right or wrong,
Someone to open each and every door,
But it ain't me, babe,
No, no, no, it ain't me, babe,
It ain't me you're lookin' for, babe.
Go lightly from the ledge, babe,
Go lightly on the ground.
I'm not the one you want, babe,
I will only let you down.
You say you're lookin' for someone
Who will promise never to part,
Someone to close his eyes for you,
Someone to close his heart,
Someone who will die for you an' more,
But it ain't me, babe,
No, no, no, it ain't me, babe,
It ain't me you're lookin' for, babe.
Go melt back into the night, babe,
Everything inside is made of stone.
There's nothing in here moving
An' anyway i'm not alone.
You say you're looking for someone
Who'll pick you up each time you fall,
To gather flowers constantly
An' to come each time you call,
A lover for your life an' nothing more,
But it ain't me, babe,
No, no, no, it ain't me, babe,
It ain't me you're lookin' for, babe

Eddie Vedder did an unforgetable rendition at Madison Square Garden's for Bob Dylan's 30th aniversary concert...............
Come you masters of war
You that build all the guns
You that build the death planes
You that build the big bombs
You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks
You that never done nothin'
But build to destroy
You play with my world
Like it's your little toy
You put a gun in my hand
And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run farther
When the fast bullets fly
Like judas of old
You lie and deceive
A world war can be won
You want me to believe
But i see through your eyes
And i see through your brain
Like i see through the water
That runs down my drain
You fasten the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you set back and watch
When the death count gets higher
You hide in your mansion
As young people's blood
Flows out of their bodies
And is buried in the mud
You've thrown the worst fear
That can ever be hurled
Fear to bring children
Into the world
For threatening my baby
Unborn and unnamed
You ain't worth the blood
That runs in your veins
How much do i know
To talk out of turn
You might say that i'm young
You might say i'm unlearned
But there's one thing i know
Though i'm younger than you
Even jesus would never
Forgive what you do
Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul
And i hope that you die
And your death'll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And i'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And i'll stand o'er your grave
'til i'm sure that you're dead

Smashed To Bits(In the Peace of the Night) - Death In June
smashed to bits
in the peace of the night

he'd change his spots
or, shed his skin
(he craved power)
smashed to bits
in the peace of the night
the power in the hour
the art of the few
original and best
perpetuate nature
unending largesse

your weakness - your ideology

I really have to coax it into uploading files onto my ipod. and still crashes randomly every one in awhile. way back in the day when we had a mac in my house it never ever crashed. do you realy like the postal service?

*Jaw drops* AH! *GASPS!*
YOU KNOW NOTHING!!! MacOSX is wonderful, after seeing it, my jaw dropped, I drooled and started really really really wanting it. It's soooo pretty... Press button and the windows fly to the sides, click one and it goes to the middle and expands. It has multiple desktops, and when changing between one, it goes like a cube and turns... Soooo sexy... Uh, I mean... uh... Anyways, there is no match, it is is like KDE, but STABLE!
OH! Anybody hear about Sun's 3D desktop? After Microsoft proposed having something like that in Longhorn, plans started. And after Mac released OSX, it was pushed faster. The video of it is so very very nice, 3D desktop!
LOOKIE!!! Uh, I'm not a nerdy, I sware!
Oh, and the one-button mouse... MacOS supports up to six button mouses, I blieve, some big number like that. You just have to buy it seperate. The only sucky thing about Apple is that they use special parts, they really need to adopt the PC architecture.
Oh, and one thing about Microsoft, and how the EU's decision isn't going to hurt them, but that they've already won, and that by not complying they will make more money than if they did.

Well sure it looks cool, but that's not how I pick my OSs. Besides, I haven't had XP crash on me yet. And I shouldn't have to go buy a new mouse because Steve Jobs is obsessed with making cool looking mouses, it should come with two or three buttons!

How do you pick your OS? I go for functionality first, which is why I'm currently running windows, then prettiness. Even though I'm faster using the shell in Linux than the desktop, windows is still easier, it's click the button and you're done. Windows just sucks in the realm of stability, safety and prettiness. I have heard that XP doesn't crash as much as the others, but it does have other problems. Many things are incompatable with it, and certain things the system does messes it up for future use. I heard the Blue Screen of Death is all nice looking under XP, it's no longer just plain blue.
Mice aren't expensive. Plus, there isn't much to do with the right click under a mac.

"Attics of My Life"
Words by Robert Hunter; music by Jerry Garcia
In the attics of my life
Full of cloudy dreams unreal
Full of tastes no tongue can know
And lights no eye can see
When there was no ear to hear
You sang to me
I have spent my life
Seeking all that's still unsung
Bent my ear to hear the tune
And closed my eyes to see
When there were no strings to play
You played to me
In the book of love's own dream
Where all the print is blood
Where all the pages are my days
And all my lights grow old
When I had no wings to fly
You flew to me
You
flew
to me
In the secret space of dreams
Where I dreaming lay amazed
When the secrets all are told
And the petals all unfold
When there was no dream of mine
You dreamed of me

imp tha's a beautiful song....
this one's pretty too.......but sad
It ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
It don't matter, anyhow
An' it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
If you don't know by now
When your rooster crows at the break of dawn
Look out your window and i'll be gone
You're the reason i'm trav'lin' on
Don't think twice, it's all right
It ain't no use in turnin' on your light, babe
That light i never knowed
An' it ain't no use in turnin' on your light, babe
I'm on the dark side of the road
Still i wish there was somethin' you would do or say
To try and make me change my mind and stay
We never did too much talkin' anyway
So don't think twice, it's all right
It ain't no use in callin' out my name, gal
Like you never did before
It ain't no use in callin' out my name, gal
I can't hear you any more
I'm a-thinkin' and a-wond'rin' all the way down the road
I once loved a woman, a child i'm told
I give her my heart but she wanted my soul
But don't think twice, it's all right
I'm walkin' down that long, lonesome road, babe
Where i'm bound, i can't tell
But goodbye's too good a word, gal
So i'll just say fare thee well
I ain't sayin' you treated me unkind
You could have done better but i don't mind
You just kinda wasted my precious time
But don't think twice, it's all right
i know...lots of bob dylan.....been listening to him my whole life was raised on him.....and i'm always rediscovering him
I do like Bob Dylan...I know what you mean...
Every day I feel so in demand and all I
wish I could find is a place I can land
One day I'll feel comfort inside cause I'll
know who I am
I can hold the line if I know in the end
that I won't be left behind I don't regret
what I've done I don't think you can blame me
Now I'm standin' all alone out here on my own
I'm not thinking 'bout leavin' home
But I need to be on my own
Doesn't mean I have a heart of stone
I won't even ask them why
I can't ever let them see me cry
Here I'm standing all alone out here on my own...
out here on my own
Feeling lost in a world full of lies
I can't help thinkin' that love is just
passin' me by Hold on to what I believe
and keep an open hand
Can I have it all if there's no one to
turn to when I stumble and fall
Is there a secret I need because no one
has told me-all alone
It may take some time cause I know
how it feels to have a lot on your mind
I'll never feel all alone cause!
Know that I have me
Now I can make it all alone out here on my own

"Evert One Pipkin", by Man... or Astro-man?
Microphone
Take this sound
Push it through
Your ear canals
I can hear it now
It's coming in... loud
It's the hum I hear
When the circuit is near
60 cycles of sound
I could blow a fuse
It cut me to lose
My force-field down
Stereo speaker
Take this voice
Transform it into
Background... noise
Just for one instant
I can show you the distance
It's the hum I hear
When the circuit is near
60 cycles of sound
I could blow a fuse
It cut me to lose
My force-field down
How long can I wait...
for your hesitations?
And how long can I sit still
In suspended animation?
Seen this one before
Seen this one before
Didn't want to see it...
Before
It's the hum I hear
When the circuit is near
60 cycles of sound
I could blow a fuse
It cut me to lose
My force-field down

Lyrics for Ozzy Osbourne - Crazy Train
Crazy, but that's how it goes
Millions of people living as foes
Maybe it's not to late
To learn how to love
And forget how to hate
Mental wounds not healing
Life's a bitter shame
I'm going off the rails on a crazy train
I've listened to preachers
I've listened to fools
I've watched all the dropouts
Who make their own rules
One person conditioned to rule and control
The media sells it and you live the role
Mental wounds still screaming
Driving me insane
I'm going off the rails on a crazy train
I know that things are going wrong for me
You gotta listen to my words
Yeh-h!
Heirs of a cold war
That's what we've become
Inheriting troubles I'm mentally numb
Crazy, I just cannot bear
I'm living with something that just isn't fair
Mental wounds not healing
Who and what's to blame
I'm going off the rails on a crazy train

Fake Plastic Trees
The green plastic watering can
For a fake chinese rubberplant
In the fake plastic earth
That she bought from a rubber man
In a town full of rubber plans
To get rid of itself
It wears her out
It wears her out
It wears her out
It wears her out
She lives with a broken man
A cracked polystyrene man
Who just crumbles and burns
He used to do surgery for girls in the eighties
But gravity always wins
And it wears him out
And it wears him out
And it wears him out
She looks like the real thing
She tastes like the real thing
My fake plastic love
But I can't help the feeling
I could blow through the ceiling
if I just turned and ran
And it wears me out
It wears me out
It wears me out
If I could be who you wanted
if I could be who you wanted all the time

'SATURDAY SAVIOUR' -- Failure
I'm never gonna say the words
that you want
I'm never gonna feel the shame
like you do
I'm never gonna stretch my shape
to be with you
I only need you for a day
'cause I only wanna be your
Saturday saviour
I can be that
Saturday saviour
I will be your
Saturday Saviour
I can be that imposter in your bed
Wake him up please
I'm never gonna make you feel
that you're satisfied
I'm never gonna feel your pain
like you wish I would
I'm never gonna open up
more than this
I just wanna be your
I just wanna be your
I'm never gonna break apart
quite like you
I'm never gonna long for life
the way you do
I'm never gonna push you out
'cause you're not in
This will only take a while
'Cause I only want to be your

I really love weak become heroes by the Streets. actually, I love the Streets in general, but this is my favorite part of that song
then the girl in the cafe' taps me on the shoulder
i realise 5yrs went by and i'm older
memories smoulder winters colder
but that same piano loops over and over and over
the road shines and the rain washes away
same chinese takeaway
selling shit in a tray
it's dark all round
i walk down
same sights same sounds
new beats though
solid concrete under my feat
no surprises no treats
the world stands still as my mind sloshes round
the washing up bowl in my crown
my life's been up and down since i walked from that crowd
that basically sums up life for me. everything can stay exactly the same but music keeps me going, no matter what. I'm such a nerd :D
Early in the morning risin' to the street
Light me up that cigarette and I strap shoes on my feet
Got to find a reason a reason things went wrong
Got to find a reason why my money's all gone
But I got a dalmatian and I can still get high
I can play the guitar like a mother fuckin riot
Life is too short so love the one you got cause you might get
runover or you might get shot
Never start no static
I just get it off my chest
Never had to battle with no bulletproof vest
Take a small example
A tip from me take all of your money and give it up to charity
Lovin's what I got
It's within my reach
And the sublime style's still straight from long beach
It all comes back to you you're gonna get what you deserve
Try and test that you're bound to get served
Love's what I got
Don't start a riot
You feel it when the dance gets hot
That's why I don't cry when my dog runs away
I don't get angry at the bills I have to pay
I don't get angry when my Mom smokes pot, hits
the bottle and goes back to the rock
Fuckin and fighting it's all the same
Livin' with Louie dog's the only way to stay sane
Let the lovin come back to me

'Eternal Life' -- Jeff Buckley
Eternal Life is now on my trail
Got my red glitter coffin, man, just need one last nail
While all these ugly gentlemen play out their foolish games
there's a flaming red horizon that screams our names
And as your fantasies are broken in two
Did you really think this bloody road
would pave the way for you?
You better turn around
and blow your kiss hello to life eternal, angel
Racist everyman, what have you done?
Man, you've made a killer of your unborn son...
Crown my fear your king at the point of a gun
All I want to do is love everyone...
And as your fantasies are broken in two
did you really think this bloody road
would pave the way for you?
You better turn around
and blow your kiss hello to life eternal
Oh...
There's no time for hatred, only questions
Where is love, where is happiness, what is Life,
where is peace?
When will I find the strength to bring me release?
And tell me where is the love in what your prophet has said?
Man, It sounds to me just like a prison for the walking dead
And I've got a message for you and your twisted hell
You better turn around and blow your kiss goodbye
to life eternal angel...
Angel...

Punk Is Dead - Crass
Yes that's right, punk is dead,
It's just another cheap product for the consumers head.
Bubblegum rock on plastic transistors,
Schoolboy sedition backed by big time promoters.
CBS promote the Clash,
But it ain't for revolution, it's just for cash.
Punk became a fashion just like hippy used to be
And it ain't got a thing to do with you or me.
Movements are systems and systems kill.
Movements are expressions of the public will.
Punk became a movement cos we all felt lost,
But the leaders sold out and now we all pay the cost.
Punk narcissism was social napalm,
Steve Jones started doing real harm.
Preaching revolution, anarchy and change
As he sucked from the system that had given him his name.
Well I'm tired of staring through shit stained glass,
Tired of staring up a superstars arse,
I've got an arse and crap and a name,
I'm just waiting for my fifteen minutes fame.
Steve Jones you're napalm,
If you're so pretty (vacant) why do you swarm?
Patti Smith you're napalm,
You write with your hand but it's Rimbaud's arm.
And me, yes I, do I want to burn?
Is there something I can learn?
Do I need a business man to promote my angle?
Can I resist the carrots that fame and fortune dangle?
I see the velvet zippies in their bondage gear,
The social elite with safety-pins in their ear,
I watch and understand that it don't mean a thing,
The scorpions might attack, but the systems stole the sting.
PUNK IS DEAD. PUNK IS DEAD. PUNK IS DEAD.
PUNK IS DEAD. PUNK IS DEAD. PUNK IS DEAD.
PUNK IS DEAD. PUNK IS DEAD. PUNK IS DEAD.

'God Thinks' -- Voltaire
God thinks all blacks are obsolete farm eqipment
God thinks the Jews killed his son and must be punished
God thinks the white man is Satan
God, they know what God thinks
God thinks we should all convert to Judaism
God thinks we must all be Christians
God thinks we should all embrace Islam
God thinks the only true religion is Hinduism
I know what God thinks
God thinks you're a waste of flesh
God prefers an Atheist
God thinks all people like you are evil
God thinks all people like you are an embarassment to creation
self-righteous, judgemental, first to throw the stone
and use His name for your own protection
God thinks the sun revolves around the Earth
God thinks there was something very wrong with Copernicus
God thinks abortion is murder
God thinks everything that science gave us is wrong
God thinks women deserve it
God thinks AIDS is a form of punishment
I hate people who blame the Devil for their own shortcomings
I hate people who thank God when things go right
I know what God thinks
God thinks you're an idiot
God prefers a heretic
God thinks all people like you are evil
God thinks all people like you are an embarassment to creation
self-righteous, judgemental, first to throw the stone
and use His name for your own protection
God is a liberal God is a democrat
God wants you to vote republican
never trust a man who puts his words in the mouth of god
and says that it's absolute truth
its lies and it smells like death
its all in a day's work taking money from the poor
Why do you think that God would need your money
if he wanted to start a holy war?
self-righteous, judgemental, first to throw the stone
and use His name for your own protection
God thinks puppies need to die
God thinks babies need to drown
'cause God is neither good nor bad
God is you and me

The Man Upstairs - (More) Voltaire
The guy upstairs is such a freak,
for five years now I've had a leak.
What does he do up there?
All day long he "sleeps all day"
then he goes out and comes home
in the most intoxicated way.
As far as I can tell, he juggles bowling balls
but he's not good at it.
He moves his furniture then at six am
he pulls out the vacuum cleaner
to suck his room.
The guy downstairs is also crazy,
he spent some time in an institute.
It did him not much good.
He's off his medication
and he starts screaming,
"Virgin Mary, you fucking alien!"
According to him Jesus Christ smokes crack
and other sundry things.
But it's the man upstairs who pulls the strings.
Won't let me sleep.
Please, kill that man upstairs.
If you ever loved me, you'll do this one thing,
won't you sweetheart?
Please, murder that man upstairs.
If you want to be my friend
you'll have to prove you mean it.
I used to think that rent control was a good idea
until I moved in here. Now I'm the only sucker
paying more than a hundred bucks a room.
And I'm surrounded by lunatics who don't
even need a moon.
But it's the man upstairs who pulls the strings
won't let me sleep.
Then there's the lady across the hall
who always knows what's going on
and Machu Pichu down the stairs
who is selling crack from to door.
14B are refugees and 14A transvestite whores.
But you know who is coming home
he's falling up his drunken stairs......
...If you want to be my friend
you''ll help me get a good night sleep.

'Sick' - Sneaker Pimps
I'll play your games with your sex, with electric shocks
Learn to let myself loose and be the dummy in your snapshots
I'll play your games learn to get on with your backward fans
Stick my body in the sun and help to get rid of the white tan
And maybe then you wouldn't get so sick of me
And maybe then you wouldn't get so sick of me
And maybe then you wouldn't get so sick of me
And maybe then you wouldn't get so sick of me
I'll play your games, mark the names with the blackest spots
If you're building me up to be the target for your cheap shots
I'll play your games keep a blind eye on the main chance
Strip my body of its skin and try to cancel out the white trash
And maybe then you wouldn't get so sick of me
And maybe then you wouldn't get so sick of me
And maybe then you wouldn't get so sick of me
And maybe then you wouldn't get so sick of me
I'll play your games if your aim is for the quick fix
Cos I know what you wanted and i know how you got it
I'll play your games if you play out in the fast lane
Learn to jump into the road and hope to save a little lost face
And maybe then you wouldn't get so sick of me
And maybe then you wouldn't get so sick of me
And maybe then you wouldn't get so sick of me
And maybe then you wouldn't get so sick of me

American Pie - Don McLean
A long, long time ago...
I can still remember
How that music used to make me smile.
And I knew if I had my chance
That I could make those people dance
And maybe they'd be happy for a while.
But February made me shiver
With every paper I'd deliver.
Bad news on the doorstep;
I couldn't take one more step.
I can't remember if I cried
When I read about his widowed bride,
But something touched me deep inside
The day the music died.
So bye-bye, Miss American Pie.
Drove my Chevy to the levee,
But the levee was dry.
And them good ol' boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin', this'll be the day that I die.
This'll be the day that I die.
Did you write the book of love,
And do you have faith in God above,
If the Bible tells you so?
Do you believe in rock'n roll,
Can music save your mortal soul,
And can you teach me how to dance real slow?
Well, I know that you're in love with him
'cause I saw you dancin' in the gym.
You both kicked off your shoes.
Man, I dig those rhythm and blues.
I was a lonely teenage broncin' buck
With a pink carnation and a pickup truck,
But I knew I was out of luck
The day the music died.
I started singin',
Bye-bye, Miss American Pie.
Drove my Chevy to the levee,
But the levee was dry.
Them good ol' boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
And singin', this'll be the day that I die.
This'll be the day that I die.
Now for ten years we've been on our own
And moss grows fat on a rollin' stone,
But that's not how it used to be.
When the Jester sang for the King and Queen,
In a coat he borrowed from James Dean
And a voice that came from you and me,
Oh, and while the King was looking down,
The Jester stole his thorny crown.
The courtroom was adjourned;
No verdict was returned.
And while Lennon read a book on Marx,
The quartet practiced in the park,
And we sang dirges in the dark
The day the music died.
We were singing,
Bye-bye, Miss American Pie.
Drove my Chevy to the levee,
But the levee was dry.
Them good ol' boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
And singin', this'll be the day that I die.
This'll be the day that I die.
Helter Skelter in a summer swelter.
The birds flew off with a fallout shelter,
Eight miles high and falling fast.
It landed foul on the grass.
The players tried for a forward pass,
With the Jester on the sidelines in a cast.
Now the halftime air was sweet perfume
While the sergeants played a marching tune.
We all got up to dance,
Oh, but we never got the chance!
'cause the players tried to take the field;
The marching band refused to yield.
Do you recall what was revealed
The day the music died?
We started singing,
Bye-bye, Miss American Pie.
Drove my Chevy to the levee,
But the levee was dry.
Them good ol' boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
And singin', this'll be the day that I die.
This'll be the day that I die.
Oh, and there we were all in one place,
A generation lost in space
With no time left to start again.
So come on: Jack be nimble, Jack be quick!
Jack flash sat on a candlestick
Cause fire is the devil's only friend.
Oh, and as I watched him on the stage
My hands were clenched in fists of rage.
No angel born in Hell
Could break that Satan's spell.
And as the flames climbed high into the night
To light the sacrificial rite,
I saw satan laughing with delight
The day the music died
He was singing,
Bye-bye, Miss American Pie.
Drove my Chevy to the levee,
But the levee was dry.
Them good ol' boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
And singin', this'll be the day that I die.
This'll be the day that I die.
I met a girl who sang the blues
And I asked her for some happy news,
But she just smiled and turned away.
I went down to the sacred store
Where I'd heard the music years before,
But the man there said the music wouldn't play.
And in the streets: the children screamed,
The lovers cried, and the poets dreamed.
But not a word was spoken;
The church bells all were broken.
And the three men I admire most:
The Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost,
They caught the last train for the coast
The day the music died.
And they were singing,
Bye-bye, Miss American Pie.
Drove my Chevy to the levee,
But the levee was dry.
And them good ol' boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin', this'll be the day that I die.
This'll be the day that I die.
They were singing,
Bye-bye, Miss American Pie.
Drove my Chevy to the levee,
But the levee was dry.
Them good ol' boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin', this'll be the day that I die.

Maria går på vägen

[English Translation by Mathias Blad]
Maria walks down the road to the village,
She sings and laughs at the larks in the sky.
She's on her way to the marketplace to sell some bread,
And the sun is rising, warm and big, and colours the sky red.
Then she meets a nobleman on a horse with a bushy mane.
He say's: I'm the king's man so I take what I want
And you are far too beautiful not to have a man,
Come with me into the woods and I'll show you what I can!
She's forced down in the grass and he touches her body.
She tries to get away and asks him for the love of god to stop
But the knight just laughs, intoxicated by his own glow.
So she grabs his knife and gives it a push and the knight is dead.
They put Maria in prison, and she was stoned to death for manslaughter
But the memory of the knight was celebrated each year.
Yes, the noblemen become heroes but ordinary people is being condemned
And we who see how it all really is learns that we've been dreaming!
Björn Afzelius was first with it. Dia Psalma, Falconer and Imperiet have done very good covers. At least DP and Imperiet. Havent heard Falconers yet. (lol)
Nobody Told Me
Looking back at my childhood
wasn’t to bad but it wasn’t that great
I carry the luggage like a bag of bricks
feels like it’s holding me down again
staring down a pitch black road
painted lines show me the direction
the sun is burning on my face
the sun is setting me on fire
nobody told me where to go
nobody told me when to run
I can’t find my way back home
lost my head down there some where
could we just be gone alone
lived in doubt and fear I’ve shown
gazing down a long grey road
I see the stop sign way up ahead
sun is burning on my face
the sun is setting me on fire
no body told me where to go
nobody told me when to run
nobody told me where to go
nobody told me nobody told me
same old shit different day
gotta get up, gotta get up
x5
I can’t find my way back home
lost my head down there some where
could we just be gone alone
lived in doubt and fear I’ve shown
gazing down a long grey road
I see the stop sign way up ahead
sun is burning on my face
the sun is setting me on fire
no body told me where to go
nobody told me when to run

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way
Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking
And racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death
Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone the song is over, thought I'd something more to say.
work your way out
lying on the floor
four stories high
in the corridor
between the asphalt and the sky
i am caught like bottled water
the light daughter
i wonder what you look like
under your t-shirt
i wonder what you sound like
when you're not wearing words
i wonder what we have
when we're not pretending
it's never-ending, haven't you heard?
i don't need to tell you
what this is about
you just start on the inside
and work your way out
we are all polylingual
but some of us pretend
there's virtue in relying
on not trying to understand
we're all citizens of the womb
before we subdivide
into sexes and shades
this side
that side
and i don't need to tell you
what this is about
you just start on the inside
and work your way out
undressing for the fan
like it was a man
wondering about all the things
that i'll never understand
there are some things that you can't know
unless you've been there
but oh how far we could go
if we started to share
i don't need to tell you
what it is about
you just start on the inside
you just start on the inside
and work your way out

The Wanton Song
(Page/Plant)
Silent woman in the night, you came, Took my seed from my shaking frame.
Same old fire, another flame, And the wheel rolls on.
Silent woman through the flames, you come, From the deep behind the sun
Seems my nightmares, have just begun
Left me barely holding on.
With blazing eyes you see my trembling hand.
When we know the time has come
Lose my senses, lose command
Feel your healing rivers run
Is it every time I fall, That I think this is the one
In the darkness can you hear me call
Another day has just begun.
Silent woman, my face is changed
Some know in ways to come.
Feel my fire needs a brand new flame
And the wheels rolls on.... rolls on.

Wonderful Tonight - Eric Clapton
It's late in the evening; she's wondering what clothes to wear.
She puts on her make-up and brushes her long blonde hair.
And then she asks me, "Do I look all right?"
And I say, "Yes, you look wonderful tonight."
We go to a party and everyone turns to see
This beautiful lady that's walking around with me.
And then she asks me, "Do you feel all right?"
And I say, "Yes, I feel wonderful tonight."
I feel wonderful because I see
The love light in your eyes.
And the wonder of it all
Is that you just don't realize how much I love you.
It's time to go home now and I've got an aching head,
So I give her the car keys and she helps me to bed.
And then I tell her, as I turn out the light,
I say, "My darling, you were wonderful tonight.
Oh my darling, you were wonderful tonight."
This is my favorite song to slow dance with B_V to....so romantic!

Wake up,
Grab a brush and put a little (makeup),
Grab a brush and put a little,
Hide the scars to fade away the (shakeup)
Hide the scars to fade away the,
Why'd you leave the keys upon the table?
Here you go create another fable
You wanted to,
Grab a brush and put a little makeup,
You wanted to,
Hide the scars to fade away the shakeup,
You wanted to,
Why'd you leave the keys upon the table,
You wanted to,
I don't think you trust,
In, my, self righteous suicide,
I, cry, when angels deserve to die, Die,
Wake up,
Grab a brush and put a little (makeup),
Grab a brush and put a little,
Hide the scars to fade away the (shakeup)
Hide the scars to fade away the,
Why'd you leave the keys upon the table?
Here you go create another fable

In my, self righteous suicide,
I, cry, when angels deserve to die
Father, Father, Father, Father,
Father/ Into your hands/I/commend my spirit,
Father, into your hands,
Why have you forsaken me,
In your eyes forsaken me,
In your thoughts forsaken me,
In your heart forsaken, me oh,
Trust in my self righteous suicide,
I, cry, when angels deserve to die,
In my self righteous suicide,
I, cry, when angels deserve to die.

Minus The Bear - Absinthe Party at the Fly Honey Warehouse
Hey, let's cross the sea
and get some culture.
Red wine with every meal
and absinthe after dinner.
We'd look good side by side
walking back to the hotel
We've got to get something
to eat and to drink yeah,
and find a place too stay
that's not far off the main way-
we've got to plan our day:
Rodan and the Orsay
and find a way to cram it all in
before we drink hard again
Let's get a bottle and drink alone tonight
'This light looks good on you,'
morning came early.
Sitting on a park bench
that's older than my country
Two star hotel
near St. Germain.
Two star hotel
where the stars don't mean anything.

don't leave
and true love waits
in haunted attics
and true love lives
on lollipops and crisps
just don't leave

Modest Mouse - 3rd Planet
Everything that keeps me together is falling apart, I've got
this thing that I consider my only art of fucking people over
My boss just quit the job says he's goin' out to find blind
spots and he'll do it
The 3rd Planet is sure that they're being watched by an
eye in the sky that can't be stopped
When you get to the promise land your gonna shake that
eyes hand
Your heart felt good it was drippin' pitch and made of wood
And your hands and knees felt cold and wet on the grass to me
Outside naked, shiverin' looking blue, from the cold
sunlight that's reflected off the moon
Baby cum angels fly around you reminding you we used
to be three and not just two
And that's how the world began
And that's how the world will end
A 3rd had just been made and we were swimming in the
water, didn't know then was it a son was it a daughter
When it occurred to me that the animals are swimming
around in the water in the oceans in our bodies and
another had been found another ocean on the planet
given that our blood is just like the Atlantic
And how
The universe is shaped exactly like the earth if you go
straight long enough you'll end up where you were
That's it for now :).

Sublime- "Wrong Way" ... one of my favorite songs ever. I love Sublime!
Annie's 12 years old, in two more she'll be a whore
Nobody ever told her it's the wrong way
Don't be afraid with the quickness you'll get laid
For your family get paid
It's the wrong way
I gave her all that I had to give
I'm gonna make it hard to live
(Big) salty tears running down to her chin
And it ruins up her make-up
I never wanted
A cigarette pressed between her lips
But I'm staring at her tits
It's the wrong way
Strong if I can, but I am only a man
So I take her to the can
It's the wrong way
The only family that she's ever had
Is her seven horny brothers and a drunk-ass dad
He needed money so he put her on the street
Everything was going fine until the day she met me
Happy are you sad, wanna shoot your dad
I'll do anything I can
It's the wrong way
We talk all night, try to make it right
Believe me shit was tight
It was the wrong way
So run away if you wanna stay
Cause I ain't here to make ya, oh no
It's up to you what you really wanna do
Spend some time in America
Dub style!
She'll give you all that she got to give
But I'm gonna make it hard to live
Big salty tears rollin' down to her chin
And it smears up her make-up
I never wanted
So we ran away
And I'm sorry when I say, that straight to this very day
It was the wrong way
She took a hike it don't matter if I like it or not
Because she only wants the wrong way
I gave her all that I had to give
But she still wouldn't take it, oh no
Her two brown eyes are leaking like a sieve
But it still ruins her make-up
I never wanted
Since over a thousand soldiers have now died in Iraq, this would be my mood...
Two days past eighteen
He was waiting for the bus in his army green
Sat down in a booth in a cafe there
Gave his order to a girl with a bow in her hair
He’s a little shy so she gives him a smile
And he said would you mind sittin’ down for a while
And talking to me,
I’m feeling a little low
She said I’m off in an hour and I know where we can go
So they went down and they sat on the pier
He said I bet you got a boyfriend but I don’t care
I got no one to send a letter to
Would you mind if I sent one back here to you
I cried
Never gonna hold the hand of another guy
Too young for him they told her
Waitin’ for the love of a travelin’ soldier
Our love will never end
Waitin’ for the soldier to come back again
Never more to be alone when the letter said
A soldier’s coming home
So the letters came from an army camp
In california then vietnam
And he told her of his heart
It might be love and all of the things he was so scared of
He said when it’s getting kinda rough over here
I think of that day sittin’ down at the pier
And I close my eyes and see your pretty smile
Don’t worry but I won’t be able to write for awhile
I cried
Never gonna hold the hand of another guy
Too young for him they told her
Waitin’ for the love of a travelin’ soldier
Our love will never end
Waitin’ for the soldier to come back again
Never more to be alone when the letter said
A soldier’s coming home
One friday night at a football game
The lord’s prayer said and the anthem sang
A man said folks would you bow your heads
For a list of local vietnam dead
Crying all alone under the stands
Was a piccolo player in the marching band
And one name read and nobody really cared
But a pretty little girl with a bow in her hair
I cried
Never gonna hold the hand of another guy
Too young for him they told her
Waitin’ for the love of a travelin’ soldier
Our love will never end
Waitin’ for the soldier to come back again
Never more to be alone when the letter said
A soldier’s coming home

That’s great, it starts with an earthquake, birds and snakes, an aeroplane -
Lenny bruce is not afraid. eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn -
World serves it’s own needs, don’t misserve your own needs. feed it up a knock,
Speed, grunt no, strength no. ladder structure clatter with fear of height,
Down height. wire in a fire, represent the seven games in a government for
Hire and a combat site. left her, wasn’t coming in a hurry with the furies
Breathing down your neck. team by team reporters baffled, trump, tethered
Crop. look at that low plane! fine then. uh oh, overflow, population,
Common group, but it’ll do. save yourself, serve yourself. world serves its
Own needs, listen to your heart bleed. tell me with the rapture and the
Reverent in the right - right. you vitriolic, patriotic, slam, fight, bright
Light, feeling pretty psyched.
It’s the end of the world as we know it.
It’s the end of the world as we know it.
It’s the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.
Six o’clock - tv hour. don’t get caught in foreign tower. slash and burn,
Return, listen to yourself churn. lock him in uniform and book burning,
Blood letting. every motive escalate. automotive incinerate. light a candle,
Light a motive. step down, step down. watch a heel crush, crush. uh oh,
This means no fear - cavalier. renegade and steer clear! a tournament,
A tournament, a tournament of lies. offer me solutions, offer me alternatives
And I decline.
It’s the end of the world as we know it.
It’s the end of the world as we know it.
It’s the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.
The other night I tripped a nice continental drift divide. mount st. edelite.
Leonard bernstein. leonid breshnev, lenny bruce and lester bangs.
Birthday party, cheesecake, jelly bean, boom! you symbiotic, patriotic,
Slam, but neck, right? right.
It’s the end of the world as we know it.
It’s the end of the world as we know it.
It’s the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine...fine...

Oh man! Day after election, on the school's video morning show, they played that song first. I wish I knew who picked it... And my research teacher was singing that song for the rest of the day. Yay REM! A decade too early, but that's okay!

Yeah, I wish I knew too. I was meaning to ask someone from CATCOM about it, but I never remembered. I don't suppose they would now...

When they played that in concert I missed the Leonard Bernstein queue. I was quite disappointed.

Just thought that since Christmas time is coming up...
Leftover Crack - Atheist Anthem
From high up on yer crucifix
You preach about my triple 6
You spit about my this and that
And yank away yer welcome mat
With a coupon jesus christ will save
So don't you christians misbehave
'cuz santa makes the list himself
And he's rotting on the warehouse shelf
And all the boys in the straight-edge scene
are in the basement huffing gasoline
Dead, dead, dead, dead
Yer god is dead to me!
And when the laws of God just make ya pissed
You better become an atheist
Dead, dead, dead, dead
Yer god is dead to me!
When the greed of man is not appeased
All will rot sick and diseased
Once again the fallen towers
The Tortured death of every hour
And at the toll of the final bell
You lead the righteous down to hell
When all the world is dead by dawn
All I ask is bring me along!
And all the boys in the straight-edge scene
are in the basement huffing gasoline
Dead, dead, dead, dead
Yer god is dead to me!
And when the laws of God just make ya pissed
You better become an atheist
Dead, dead, dead, dead
Yer god is dead to me!
Nuclear Apox spells your doom
like the t.v. in yer living room
each bomb kills a million dead
it melts your skin and implodes yer head
And now you get yer judgement day
You think you'll float up then away
But yer guilty just like everyone
You turn to ash when the burning's done
And all the boys in the straight-edge scene
are in the basement huffing gasoline
Dead, dead, dead, dead
Yer god is dead to me!
And when the laws of God just make ya pissed
You better become an atheist
Dead, dead, dead, dead
Yer god is dead to me!
There's a hunger within you
a tapeworm deep inside
or maybe it's just cancer
the doctors can't decide
but yer stomach keeps on growing
as yer body wastes away
and yer getting ill & weaker
every single fucking day
we are alone
we are alone

I Am The Ride
by Chris Smither
Forms are loosely fitting, juries still are sitting,
A sense of duty keeps us all in motion.
Prison sirens wailing that security is failing
Do not inspire a lifetime of devotion.
No one will sympathize, no one really tries,
They need a faith that leads them like a drum,
I can hear it pounding down among the ruins,
Sad to say, I don't think I'm the only one.
I awoke, someone spoke and asked me in a whisper
If all my dreams and visions had been answered.
I don't know what to say, I never even pray,
I just feel the pulse of universal dancers.
They'll waltz me till I die and never tell me why,
I never stop to ask them where we're going.
The holy, the profane are all helplessly the same,
Wishful, hopeful, never really knowin'.
They asked if I believe, and if the angels really grieve,
Or is it all a comforting invention.
It's like gravity, I said, it's not a product of my head
It doesn't speak but nonetheless commands attention
I don't care what it means or who decorates the scenes
The problem is more with my sense of pride,
That keeps me thinking me instead of what it is to be.
I'm not a passenger, I am the ride.

No more love-shinedown
It's cold outside I'm sensing fear
My self control has disappeared
I'm spinning out at each end
Could you be kind and let me in
Despite the writing on the wall
My future's bleak and rather small
That's all you could ever take from me
I've got nothing to lose so let me be
Well I sized you up your not that strong
You're weak inside I knew all along
This made up army you fight in your head
Destroyed your worth and pronounced you dead
[CHORUS]
There's no more love
There's no more love
There' no more love for me and you (Listen to me)
No more love
There's no more love
There' no more love for me and you (Listen to me)
The cruelest joke that has played on me
Is all planned out so I can't leave
Now quietly I will walk away
There is no bad blood but I can't stay
There is no more love because there is no more love
[CHORUS (2)]
There's no more love
There's no more love
There' no more love for me and you (Listen to me)
No more love
There's no more love
There' no more love for me and you (Listen to me):hitout: :hitout: :hitout:
Spero...'Hold On' (http://iacmusic.com/songs.aspx?SongID=3461&ArtistID=14211)
It's a real pretty song.
When I can’t see at all
And life has its hold on
I’ll throw my cares into the sea
And hope you’ll find them on the shore
And you’ll hold on
To everything I have
I’ve got nothing left to lose
When the tide is changing
This earth is shaking
And the wind is raging
I know you’ll hold on
When my heart is breaking
My soul is shaking
And I’ve got nowhere to turn
I know you’ll hold on
When my backs against the wall
And fears have their hold on
I’ll cry out through the night
And hope you’ll hear on the other side
And you’ll hold on
To everything I have
When I feel so small
And have no one to hold on
I know your right by my side
In your shoulder I’ll cry
And you’ll hold on
To everything I have
I’ve got nothing left to lose
When the tide is changing
This earth is shaking
And the wind is raging
I know you’ll hold on
When my heart is breaking
My soul is shaking
And I’ve got nowhere to turn
I know you’ll hold on
Just fly me away...
When the tide is changing
This earth is shaking
And the wind is raging
I know you’ll hold on
When my heart is breaking
My soul is shaking
And I’ve got nowhere to turn
I know you’ll hold on
Never The Same (http://www.gavindegraw.us/media/neverthesame.mp3)
by Gavin DeGraw
I wake up, in the middle of the night, from a dream, that is troubling me
The affair has been a mission of two, and if it doesn't hurt me, it'll have to hurt you.
So I sweat, and I toss and turn, I can't relax, is this a heart-attack?
What is true, that only two things exist, and I have difficulties, getting mad over this.
You know why! You know why!
Chorus:
What you want, what you need, ain't ever the same
All's fair when you're out there playing the game
You gonna hear, there are better places under the sun
Someone told me that gold, is knowing love
So I drive, down a line on the road with a heart that's been torn from the socket
There you were, the bottle you did bring, I only needed a sip, but I drank the whole thing
You know why! Because!
Chorus:
What you want, what you need, ain't ever the same
All's fair when you're out there playing the game
You gonna hear, there are better places under the sun
Someone told me that gold, is knowing love
ooh you can do what you want to and you will see
You will feel, love is real
Time will tell, it always does.
Out-chorus: What you want, what you need, ain't ever the same
All's fair when you're out there playing the game
You gonna hear that there are better places under the sun
Someone told me that gold, is knowing love
What you want, what you need, ain't ever the same
All's fair when you're out there playing the game
You gonna hear that there are better places under the sun
Someone told me that gold, is knowing love...
What you want, what you need, baby...
What you want, baby, what you need...

"World Inside My Head"
On the road to safe
I kinda tripped along the way
It just seemed like a nasty hassle
The path was greener on the one less traveled
That's where I remained
People so high they think
I can't hear the whispers
I can see it falling off their face
Their trying to shoot down my plane of grace
It seems like it's already hard enough
But the paint on me is beginning to dry
And it's not what I wanted to be
The weight on me
Is Hanging on to a weary angel
So tell me what it is about me
Where did everybody go without me
So, I like to fantasize
And watch the sunrise like it's a big surprise
Life moves and I stopped to taste it
I drank it up till it left me wasted
But my rains have bled
A softer red
Oh you should see the world inside my head
You can shackle me away
And try to wrap around my dreamer
I feel better when I paint my days
With purple seas
And left out grays
Strange is just a different point of view
But the paint on me is starting to dry
And it's not what I wanted to be
The weight on me
Is holding onto a weary angel
[Chorus]
I feel better when I paint my days
With purple seas
And left out grays
Strange is just a different point of view
But the pain on me is beginning to dry
And it's not what I want it to be
So wait on me
Wait on me
[Chorus]

The saddest song ever written by the best country singer to ever have lived.
Hear the lonesome whiperwill
He sounds too blue to fly
The midnight train is whining low
I’m so lonesome I could cry
I’ve never seen a night so long
When time goes crawling by
The moon just went behind a cloud
To hide it’s face and cry
Did you ever see a robin weep
When leaves begin to die
That means he’s lost the will to live
I’m so lonesome I could cry
The silence of a falling star
Lights up a purple sky
And as I wonder where you are
I’m so lonesome I could cry

the Postal Service have some greta lyrics, emoish as they may be
This is an affront to all that is respectable in the music world. First of all, you'd be hard-pressed to find a music style that was not "emotional" in some way, and The Postal Service does not fall into the genre that is considered "emo." Anyway, same writer as PS, but different band:
The atlantic was born today and i'll tell you how...
The clouds above opened up and let it out.
I was standing on the surface of a perforated sphere
When the water filled every hole.
And thousands upon thousands made an ocean,
Making islands where no island should go.
Oh no.
Those people were overjoyed; they took to their boats.
I thought it less like a lake and more like a moat.
The rhythm of my footsteps crossing flood lands to your door have been silenced forever more.
The distance is quite simply much too far for me to row
It seems farther than ever before
Oh no.
I need you so much closer

The saddest song ever written by the best country singer to ever have lived. That's a bit like saying Bob Dylan is the best rock singer ever. :)
Speaking of great writers who can't sing, here's the Randy Newman classic Rednecks:
Last night I saw Lester Maddox on a TV show
With some smart ass New York Jew
And the Jew laughed at Lester Maddox
And the audience laughed at Lester Maddox too
Well he may be a fool but he's our fool
If they think they're better than him they're wrong
So I went to the park and I took some paper along
And that's where I made this song
We talk real funny down here
We drink too much and we laugh too loud
We're too dumb to make it in no Northern town
And we're keepin' the niggers down
We got no-necked oilmen from Texas
And good ol' boys from Tennessee
And colleges men from LSU
Went in dumb. Come out dumb too
Hustlin' 'round Atlanta in their alligator shoes
Gettin' drunk every weekend at the barbecues
And they're keepin' the niggers down
We're rednecks, rednecks
And we don't know our ass from a hole in the ground
We're rednecks, we're rednecks
And we're keeping the niggers down
Now your northern nigger's a Negro
You see he's got his dignity
Down here we're too ignorant to realize
That the North has set the nigger free
Yes he's free to be put in a cage
In Harlem in New York City
And he's free to be put in a cage on the South-Side of Chicago
And the West-Side
And he's free to be put in a cage in Hough in Cleveland
And he's free to be put in a cage in East St. Louis
And he's free to be put in a cage in Fillmore in San Francisco
And he's free to be put in a cage in Roxbury in Boston
They're gatherin' 'em up from miles around
Keepin' the niggers down
We're rednecks, rednecks
And we don't know our ass from a hole in the ground
We're rednecks, we're rednecks
And we're keeping the niggers down

Does anyone remember this obscure song from the '70's?
I only heard it a few times but never forgot it.
**************************************************
As I rode into Tombstone on my horse whose name was Mac
I saw what I relate to you goin' on behind my back
It seems the folks were up in arms, a man now had to die
For believin' things that didn't fit the laws they'd set aside
The man's name was "I'm a Freak" the best that I could see
He was an executioner, a hangman just like me
I guess that he'd seen loopholes from workin' with his rope
He'd hung the wrong man many times so now he turned to hope
He'd talk to all the people from his scaffold in the square
He told them of the things he found;
But they didn't seem to care
He said the laws were obsolete, a change they should demand
But the people only walked away, he couldn't understand
The Marshall's name was Uncle Sam, he said he'd right this wrong
He'd make the hangman shut his mouth if it took him all year long
He finally arrested Freak and then he sent for me
To hang a fellow hangman from a fellow hangman's tree
It didn't take them long to try him in their court of law
He was guilty then of thinking, a crime much worse than all
They sentenced him to die so his seed of thought can't spread
And infect the little children; that's what the law had said
So the hangin' day came 'round and he walked up to the noose
I pulled the lever but before he fell I cut him loose
They called it all conspiracy and that I had to die
So to close our mouths and kill our minds they hung us side by side
And now there's two hangmen hangin' from a tree
That don't bother me at all
Two hangmen hangin' from a tree
That don't bother me at all.
